I don’t know how many videos I’ve watch on fixing paint scratches. They all look to easy to be true. This is the first technique that really make sense. Nothing worthwhile is easy. Thank for sharing your skill.
Can you try this trick with other colors? Black is the best color to match. I will like to see this in trick for example on a two stage color when you need pearl.
@@mikeb1039 its more of a 2 parter. So first it protrects the paint outside of the scratch. As youre sanding youre going to be sanding down clear around the scratch along with flattening the newly added paint on the chip. Second as you said it acts as a guide coat which will allow you to see if the paint is leveled or ot.
The reason you mix clear and base is because it helps with hiding the scratch? Just trying to figure out why. Youre the only one that ive seen that does this but also only one to actually make a deep scratch disappear
On the channel you have a few more videos with explanations of why and how, and on my channel there is nothing that is set up, everything is shown as real as it is
before it took 24 hours due to drying, now it takes 2 to 3 hours because I use a UV coating that dries in 5 minutes with a lamp, and you have a video about it on my channel

the base, the coating and the hardener are fine, you also have similar problems on my channel that we solved by filling, so you can watch each video with an explanation
@@nullnoob Any body filler will do. By adding it when you block the area down you're less likely to go low on the surrounding areas. As long as you make sure you use a flat block and take the whole area as level as you can, you should be allright. Also it's a good visible indicator as quite you're progressing. You could shave of the excess paint with for example Mirka shark blade or Mirka mini file, then polish it. If you are lucky you don't need any wet sanding.
I’d agree. The process in the video is fine, but a nib blade would have cut off the primary high spots, cutting sanding time down. I use putty in a similar way. Thank you for sharing.

if you follow, you would see that the place where it is rough has been enlarged for polishing, which means that the red color is above that place, and you can see it at the end of the video 😉
there is another , easier way, with the polish machine and 1000 sand paper, you remove the scratch, (using water of course )Then you use a 2000 sand paper, then you use a compound cream with the polish machine, then a polish cream, then you use a wax and it s like new!

I have 5 to 6 deep scratches on my drivers side door. Some douche in a white Ford F-150 pickup with big ass tires was parked next to me at the golf course parking lot today. I deliberately parked in a corner. I came back and the white truck was gone. And I saw gouges on my drivers side door. The gouges went straight into the metal. It looked like he used a flathead screwdriver too. Karma is a Biotch. Thank God we have auto insurance.
to be honest, i have done the same but i ended up fucking up my paint next to scratch because of sanding. should i just put paint there also and start the job over? i dont understand how u guys can keep sratching on same spot so long and not going tru the orginal paint job. at the end its not all this hard guys the biggest mistake (i and mostly all of us make at the start) is we dont really put enough layers of paint. infact we put to few so the paint we retouched is below the orginal paint job. if you manage to put paint above the orginal paint job u can lvl it down to the orginal one and have a quite decent fix (im not saying u gonna get it perfect like the video :) ) if u fuck up like me where i put paint not above the orginal paint all over u end up fucking up the orginal paint job cus i kept sanding something that was actually lower then the orginal paint.

Instead of sanding endlessly to level the filled scratch I would recommend using a mirka mini file to level it down fast. Then sand it lightly :)
I bought the mirka mini file and Mirka S-BLADE Shark Blade Denibbing Tool, the later might even be easier to use than the mini file.

For sanding a shim-mask for example the Devilbiss Shim-Mask could be useful for protection.

Pearl is a tri-coat. You can't match tri-coats that way, you have to paint the entire panel. Basecolor, Pearl, then the clear coating.

It's enough just to mix some hardener in basecoat.. Like 4:1 is plenty

since it is only polished and without sanding and thinning the varnish on pure black color and very hard varnish, this is more than 10
