As a person who regularly watched Sunday Morning as a kid, it's possibly THE most perfect impression I've ever heard. And the writing is insanely good.
I’m surprised how so many people have not heard of Norm. His timing was the best in the industry and he could ad lib with the best. I miss you Norm. You’re making heaven laugh now - hope many years from now I get to be in the audience.
What made this so ironic is that when he died that woman came out who revealed he had a shadow family with her. Actually I think it would make a great movie
@@andyoushouldfeelbad Well, I can't think of anything less marketable than a roly-poly, vagabond journalist having sex with middle America. But, a satirical adaption might work, and, of course, Sam Rockwell(who else?) would have to gain weight to play Kuralt.
im here because in law school there is a case about this guy's will leaving things to his girlfriend and his wife and the judge mentions this skit.......... lolololololol thumbs up Norm
I've never seen this before. The dude was fully committed to the art of the joke. It sounds contradictory, but comedy wasn't a joke to him. He took comedy very seriously, and that's why he was so good at it.
Haven't laughed this hard in a long time. The video's here (S19 E17) for anyone wanting to see it: archive.org/details/NormMacDonaldSNL/Norm+SNL/S19+E17.mp4
Didn't that turn out to be true? Didn't Charles Kuralt turn out to be a hound dawg and have at least one child out there from all his trips? I can't find any other YT about it, but I'm pretty sure this turned out to be more or less true.
Yes he was. He had 6 8 women that he was visiting when in the next state. I think that he had been a reporter that was CBS guy that was on call to cover anything around the country with him having to pack and catch a flight cross country in 90 minutes. He was always on Tv. Reporting from DC on Monday. California on wedsday then in Texas Saturday morning. He was in limbo at times and was in touch with small town America when things were slow. He started to get 2 3 minute clips on Morning and other CBS affiliates about this small town middle America person or company. He then was on 60 minutes and was a hit in his couple of stories. It took a couple of years then he was given info about all these places and people from rockies to Ohio Valley. He finally got a idea to let CBS let him create his own show. They balked at it saying we can't fly you all over the middle if America. He said just buy a motor home and if I find a good story you can send a camera guy and sound guy from closest place. So what guy wouldn't like to cruise around the country in a RV. With Company paying most of the bill. You meet interesting folk and find a lady that you can have sex with. Not only 1!!! 6 or 8!!!. I woke up on Sunday mornings to watch his show in early 80s. That's how I learned about polotics in the Raygun years. Meet the press and face the nation were after his show. That's also when I saw the phoney lying Trump. He would be on Shows morning noon and night. He would be asked 7 10 days later why he made this comment. It was from Sunday shows that he blurted out. He never would answer them. It's too complicated for you. Only a few people can understand. The host new he was a liar and tried to get him to explain. He never would answer, just change the subject. Just like last 8 years. Is just a mimic. SO SAD!!!.
@@shawnyoung8752 Wow! did you minor in Charles Kuralt in college? LOL just kidding. I'm 60 so I remember all that too. I just found him to be folksy and was surprised to find out how much he was "hittn." LOL It would be like going to bed with Bob Sheiffer or something. LOL Dan Rather was kinda rock'n but Charles Kuralt? Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
I have watched this at least 8 times. the rhythmic cadence of his impression is dazzling....My OCD kicks in so that I can enjoy this over and over

@@ceegee9064 "none of the ladies was attractive.. even by Backwoods standards"
As a kid I assumed that this was just a joke, but Kuralt really did have a second family in Montana that his main family in NY didn't know about.
This is such gold!

I like a newscaster who knows his way around a funnel cake.
The crackling on the audio makes it that much better.
The most obscure Norm skit next to him on the Bible game show
I saw this live, and I've been trying to find it for years. Thanks for sharing!
Norm nailed it.And so did Charles.
"Many, many times....."
Norm was a comedic scientist

Agreed. To me, that makes this sketch even funnier and gives it legendary status.
@@arobsz Exactly.
Definitely a great movie.

Farley was watching offstage and you can hear his laugh. :)

I loved this. So much better than the shit they pump out on SNL now.

Same. If a casebook references Norm, you can't pass that up. LOL!
Do you have a cite by any chance? That sounds like a great judge & decision!

Goodbye, Norm! We'll miss you.
Best SNL Norm sketch ever !
This is so ridiculously funny! Thanks law school casebook for referencing Norm MacDonald! LOL!
I wonder if Norm knows that! Someone should pay him to read it on Cameo!
Never seen nor heard of this sketch before; absolute fucking gold!
Captured pompous Kuralt perfectly.
Kurault led a double life. He shacked-up with a girlfriend and her kids behind his wife’s back.
This may be my favourite norm impression. I probably listen to this once a week and never fails to crack me up.
Such an insanely simple sketch. But one that nobody but Norm could’ve done.
This is pure gold
Eric Sevareid. He went there? Good writing and research.
By far my favorite sketch he did on snl. Rip.

I wonder if Norm wrote this himself, or maybe Jim Downey…
Norm is amazing. He had no idea just how good he is, woops🥺, was .
