Chronic pancreatitis is a long-standing inflammation, atrophy, or calcification of the pancreas that alters the organ's normal structure and functions. Major causes include alcohol abuse and cystic fibrosis; however, it can be idiopathic. The symptoms consistent with chronic pancreatitis usually present with persistent abdominal pain or steatorrhea resulting from malabsorption of the fats in food. Significant weight loss often occurs due to malabsorption. This video covers key aspects of presentation, diagnosis, and treatment.

Can the opening of Ducts or removing of the blockade through ERCP or MRCP reverse the damage ?
damage can't be reversed (only in in moderate/light acute pancreatitis at best , ercp is dangerous procedure and should only be used in treatment when it is the only way, if there is blockade , to avoid further damage ERCP is likely needed , some alternative study suggest using citric acid or malic acid injection to remove the stone if it is made of calcium(chelation)
is surgery the right treatment for chronic pancreatitis?
only if it is required for complication(absess/pseudocyst ...) that require it , or ERCP for blockade
Treatment for chronic pancreatitis focuses on reducing your pain and improving your digestive function. The damage to your pancreas can't be undone, but with the proper care, you should be able to manage many of your symptoms. Treatment for pancreatitis can include medication, endoscopic therapies, or surgery.
