It’s time for me to quit. Smoking I have smoked since I was 18 and I’m 64 years old now. Today I struggle with a car. I have no one to blame but myself but right now I use an asthma inhaler I think it’s albuterol and so the best thing I can do is quit. It’s gonna be hard but I can do this.
Yes U CAN!!! I'm 68 and started smoking at 15. I was diagnosed with emphysema in July this year .... self inflicted because I smoked 40+ per day. After an exacerbation I got such a fright that I'm too scared to touch a cigarette
I’m happy you made it to 64 , I wish good health for you . ❤
My mother got that at 36 and died at 46.
@@all4paws508your comment is almost exactly what happened to me 3 months ago. Ended up in the hospital on oxygen for 3 days. I quit cold turkey. Scared the 💩 out of me and my family. smoked 40 yrs, pack a day some days more. (I'm 64) plan on hanging around for a bit longer, God willing. Smoking is a nasty habit, and a tough addiction to break.
@@pam164so sorry😢 I have many people in my family who have died from COPD. I’m getting symptoms now
I will never be able to find a word to say how thankful I am..
🥰❤️🙏🏼
Im in my final year of medical school and i must say these videos make everything so much more understandable. Always watch a video before reading a book.
Thanks so much !

I noticed that Medical Students are tuned in. I hope my personal testimony gives credit to the producer's of this Channel. I was Diagnosed with Emphysema after taking my CT Lung Scan for the six month follow up after my first CT Lung Scan at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. I quit smoking cigarettes 2 weeks before my second Lung Scan, unfortunately I waited too long because I have Dyspnea and It's very scary gasping for air. I'm worried that my Lungs may take a long time to recover. There's varying reports from no change to healthy cell regeneration.
I had lung volume reduction surgery in 2014 removing the upper damaged, huge improvement.
Excellent! I learned 5x as much in 10mins than I did in a 90 minute lecture!!!! Thank you :D
Woohoo! Delighted to help, Amanda! 🙌🏼 💕 ✨
I have been diagnosed with emphysema. It's a sad truth that emphysema is irreversible.
The cure for this disease comes from natural Chinese medicine rather than modern medicine。
The only thing I hate about this disease more than the disease itself is the inevitable phone call from a doctor regarding a loved one in ICU. Part of which was about the lengthy discussion between them in regard to how things don't always have a habit of turning themselves around with
Watching this for my licensing exam in Physical Therapy Assisting and it's helping so much. Thank you!
Most welcome, Adrian! We wish you the best! 🙏🏼 ❤️ 😊
I don't know how I can thank you for this wonderful effort. Thank you with all my heart. You make studying medicine a lot easier for me
Wow, thank you Aya! We're glad to make your medical studies easier! 💙
It seems there are a lot of medical students commenting. So attention to all future clinicians! It’s important to know about Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. I inherited the mutation of this which caused me to develop genetic emphysema. I never smoked my whole life. My parents were carriers - heterozygous piMZ and I received the Z mutated allele from each patent (25%chance) making me homozygous piZZ. They never knew. I only discovered I had this condition after my own children had children….and discovered it by chance when I had my genome analyzed by 23andme. Since I contribute one of my ZZs to my children, they are piMZ (carriers). Alpha1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AATD) is considered rare BUT in actuality it is only rarely tested for, and therefore could more commonly occur than known. Only a fraction of the population is tested! It should become standard to test all newborns because its effects can be mistaken for life long conditions such as asthma, chronic bronchitis or other lung conditions, and even liver failure. Sometimes never discovered from one generation to the next…
thanks
I just read in one of my books that in a patient of COPD, alpha 1 AT deficiency should be tested ....... medical knowledge is constantly evolving
Thankyou so much for both your videos copd. My grandfather has copd (never smoked) and I (ex smoker) have just been diagnosed copd these videos are very informative showing the difference between the types and why.

Does emphysema patients also have cyanosis? Kindly answer
very good!
Thanks! 💖
In regard to 3:54. I thought elastin recoils and essentially wants to collapse the lung? Then how is it keeping it open during exhalation here?
The elastic recoil of the lung tissue, specifically the elastin fibers, helps keep the lungs open during exhalation by exerting an inward force that counteracts the tendency of the lungs to collapse.
Thank u ❤
You're welcome! 😊
how do you prepare such presentations for study purpose, i liked the video presentation very much, can you tell me .
Hi, thanks for asking! Here’s how Osmosis videos are made: www.osmosis.org/blog/2020/11/27/how-osmosis-videos-are-made# 👍🏼
I’m 51 and just diagnosed with copd yesterday. I gave up smoking a few weeks ago so I dunno if the breathlessness n dry cough is the detox or if it’s really copd. Either way I’m petrified 😔

Red rebel in america, EVERYONE gets an MD. its the same as MBBS. Are you even a doctor?
Lol, MBBS is equivalent to MD.

I love this so much! It is so easy to understand! The illustrations are clear, pretty, and understandable, and the voice is clear and loud enough for my poor speakers so I don't strain when I'm listening. You also expand on a lot of related topics which I would have researched if not defined. I'm so grateful, thank you!
Such amazing videos and very few views. I dont understand why. Buddy you might wanna advertise your stuff. These videos are gold for students
they have become pretty well known now with many videos over 100k. I first watched when their videos had a few 100 views and had no doubt this was going to be a huge channel.
AMAZING, you guys deserve way more subscribers and likes then this. These are perfect overviews for med students, very clearly explained! I lift my hat for you sir!

(If you have a problem with Bernoulli' s principle)
One has to breathe out through pursed lips as -
whenever there is a resistor the pressure proximal to it increases and the pressure keeps the bronchioles patent.
hopefully it was helpful.
Thank you so much for these amazing videos. ❤
