This "VATSIM-compatbility" is a game changer. I'll have a look at this!
it would be good if Beyondatc could monitor the vatsim system for active frequencies and drop out and drop in automatically, and if they could set the co-pilot voice to have no radio effect so it sounds like they are sat next to you
The pilot hears the copilot through the headset. It shouldn't sound like he's sitting next to you.
The problem I imagine would be BATC understanding Vatsim traffic as it won't be under the control of BATC's traffic injection. If they could work that out, then that would be perfect!

I think getting the program to identify other traffic on VATSIM as well as ATC coverage is key really to actually have a seamless integration with Vatsim, because otherwise it seems pointless just using Beyond ATC just for en-route coverage where there isn't much radio coms anyway.
tbh, I was using vatsim, but now I’ll use just beyondatc. It does the same thing, but all stations active, the quality is good, no more shitty microphones of others, or moody annoying or speed racing ATC’s.
I dont see any point in mixing those two. I dont really need to have the feeling that there is someone alive on the other side when rhe immersion is actually better with this addon

- Will oceanic ops be simulated with HF and everything ?
- If we fly to China, will we talk in meters and not in feet ?
- Can we communticate via CPDLC ?

Yep. Both China and Russia use meters for some reason. I'm not sure why.

But they have gone to great lengths to insure accurateness with everything else even going as far as using the same ATIS voices we use in the US so I'd think they'd get that right if they're able to handle other types of procedures and different phraseologies around the world.

Many are unhappy sods. Study done on that, many younger gens are miserable.
Will definitely buy it, but for me the complete product was preferred despite 3 to 4 months later. Flying without traffic is lonely. BATC will not cooperate with FSLTL as the in-sim ATC does.
Calling the in game atc cooperative with FSLTL is a reach 😂.

How does it integrate wirh vatsim when some pilots are coordinating themselves on unicom and some are controlled by beyondatc? Sounds challenging...
During approach, all pilots on VATSIM really should be monitoring and announcing intentions on unicom. BATC Is great for cruise and descent etc, but communication on VATSIM is essential.
Where did you get information the release is IMMINENT? Everything I've read says the initial release will be available when it's ready without a time period given.
Does anyone know what traffic models he uses? Because his cockpit glasses of the traffic models are transparent and mine aren't...
A mixture of FSLTL and FSTraffic.
As a Greek, I have to say that the AI generated Greek accents are spot on. Beyond that, I want to use it to learn more about GA. I consider it very difficult to try to learn to fly visual on VATSIM and I have never done that. This software will help me master GA.

Hi Gav good info, two questions, will this work with an outdated ARAC cycle i.e. the free simbrief option? and will FSLT injected traffic be picked up by the beyond ATC controllers?
No, only traffic injected by BATC will be controlled.
Think it will be a day#1 purchase and Ill continue with FSLTL to populate the airports and skies. However, if BATC is going to come in two parts Im wondering if they will charge for the 2nd part, negating the recently announced "reduced" price for what was the complete BATC basic package !!

My only issue with BeyondATC is that I also have to use - and likely pay for annually - SimBrief in order for BeyondATC to work. I don't want to add another layer (SimBrief) just to be able to use BeyondATC.

Same here, they should or must include ingamepanel for VR users.. if not it will be missing two big features 1: ingamepanel 2: traffic so lets hope the ingamepanel will be included day1!
For myself I was a huge fan of BATC but the wait for its release gave me an opportunity to try SayIntentions and I was hooked. Real AI is another level to scripted responses of BATC. It’s like talking to a human with the interaction it provides. Now I am not sure I can go with BATC when it’s released. It’s a great product but real AI is a game changer for me. Yes Sayintensions is expensive no question about it and prices should drop in the future making it affordable to most.

Sounds good. Guessing you'd have to keep an eye on the Squawk code if switching between the two.
...and if VATSIM came back on at a later stage in the flight they would not see your original Squawk Code. Would that be a problem?

So i heard there is an option of not using your voice but answer with buttons. Did you already show that somewhere or how does it work?
I currently use fs hud. And although being able to talk to them it's a big draw to me when not on vatsim. I like having AI traffic that is controlled more so i will wait for that feature to be added i think. I might give it ago prior but dont think it will replace fshud untill that feature for me
gave me an "interesting" vector into gibraltar tonight, but it was great switching to this instead of unicom

Great news! I have noticed that the distortion they've added is a little too much now. It used to be too clean, but now it's kind of taking me out of the experience.

Still being tweaked to find best results. It's not just 1 effect, there are multiple, so it never sounds the same with every controller.
I really want this, but sadly I rarely fly IFR. So I will more than likely be waiting until it caters for VFR

@@DeadSTK1224 Many thanks for that. I'm definitely going to be a first day buyer of BATC and do all of my flying in VR. I was always expecting to have to get some form of VR-friendly note-taking addon, as lengthy clearances and my ageing memory would make them tough to readback, and that would also be useful for Vatsim, when I eventually dip my toes in. :)
It looks like FSDESKTOP might be able to provide that also, as well as allowing for the use of the BATC interface. Result. \o/
What about Unicom and all VATSIM protocols? Plus i don't think it's a good idea that swank change if it was given by a VATSIM controller at start.
Unicom can still be monitored on Com 2 and squawk code can be changed back to VATSIMs if/when ATC is online.
I am extremely excited about beyond ATC, but am not a fan of vatsim . I can't understand why it is so popular as it only covers a small percentage of the world. My main priority in choosing a good ATC is it being able to give me a full flight following from stand to my destination airport, which Beyond ATC. will , vatsim never will. Switching between 2 different ATC programs seems pointless. I realize I am probably in the minority but I will stick with Beyond ATC from start to finish.
I agree that mixing the two doesn't make a lot of sense and could get very messy. I do use Vatsim a lot and have to say it's quite common to get ATC at both the departure and arrival airports, as well as enroute. Obviously not always the case, but since joining about 12 years ago I don't think I've done a single flight without it as talking to real people just adds an extra bit of realism you can't get any other way.

Yes I will purchase on day one. I will use FSDESKTOP for VR. I also like the phased in approach to adding traffic control.
So if we buy the basic version of BeyondATC, we get the basic voices with a one and done purchase. My question is if we have the basic version and use FS traffic for injection will we have those basic voices for FS traffic or is that a premium feature?
FSTraffic is not compatible with BATC as the two are seperate programs.
This makes sense if you are switching back to VATSIM for enroute;, but it mnay cause issues in a Terminal control area using BYATC when others are using Unicom,, sure you can monitor the frequency, but BYATC will not be aware of VS traffic and may issue conflicting instructions, especially as you get near an approach with vectors, you'llneed good traffic awareness as a pilot - shameless plug for VSR :) . Also VS is encouraging people to use CTAF in. the US when in a TCA without controllers, so using BYATC would go against the principle. Yes, to dual use BYATc/VS enroute, but No in the CTA.
Definitely safer en-route.
This sounds like a great product. One thing I do think we have been missing is a good AI model matching programme which covers aircraft like Dash 8's ATR's 757's A330's. The ones we seem to have are very much A320's and 737's.
Tbh. to postpone a software release again and again can mean they put really hard work into it (grinding the diamond) or they reeeeeally struggle with traffic injection. Or its really hard to scale up the upcoming AI network traffic because they don't know how many will buy their product and want instantly to use it.

VATSIM compatibility would be great, however I'm not sure how it would work if you're flying on vatsim outside of an ATC controlled airspace as you're supposed to monitor and communicate on the Unicom frequency, so I can't see how interacting with unicom and Beyond ATC at the same time would work. Also I noticed when you reconnected to Beyond ATC the controller issued you with a potentially different squawk code to the one VATSIM may have given you.
I guess the only sqwak code you need to write down is the VATSIM one. And 122.800 can always be monitored on unicom.
@@Easyjetsimpilotno but I mean let’s say you’re on approach to an airport that isn’t covered by vatsim ATC, you’re going to have to be interacting with beyond ATC, whilst at the same time having to make announcements on Unicom. This is where I see the conflict.
@@007markymark007 I think common sense will need to prevail here. BATC will be great for en-route coverage. But when entering the approach to an airport, unicom calls are essential.
Hello, I'm really looking forward to use beyondATC soon, my question is: in case of beyondatc is fetching data from simbrief, and I'm using a free version of in can I modify SID/STAR to correspond correct one and not the outdated airac 2203 which simbrief uses by default?

I used to love vatsim. But I mean, I got so sick of it not being covered properly I probably will swap entirely to BeyondATC. I'm even a vatsim controller, but, I no longer have the motivation unfortunately.

How does it work with SID alt restrictions, for example i live under one of the sids at egph and practically none of the aircraft stick to the 6000ft restriction. I'm assuming atc clears them higher, will beyond atc do something similar?
Does it work with time accellaration without turning off BATC? We can turn it off for accelerated part anyway... I think it will be the day one buy... It looks so promising!

Wooow I am so happy now 🎉! Did not expect that this is possible (close and re-start BATC midflight) now. The developers never gave a clear answer to that… mostly they just ignored questions regarding to that.
I like it, although recycling the squawk would be a problem if you were to flip back to Vatsim, depending on which station you tune to. They'll be expecting you on the old squawk.

Haven't flown offline since the early FSX days. This is seriously impressive especially the voice quality. Getting away from that robotic style and more human side, and the fact that I'm sometimes constrained to flying on 'quieter' vatsim days this seems incredibly enticing. Great review Gavin, really insightful.
What was not covered in this video is, that the real voices will be the by far most expensive pack.
@@shollie Yeah looks like for $9.99 (15-20 flights) you get premium so I imagine that's the voices.

Looking good thanks Gav. Would like to see what happened if you had requested direct to PEVAL. Would it have cleared you direct. Also how about requesting a flight level change. It is it strictly sticking to your sim brief plan. And how will taxi instructions at default airports work as they don’t have the correct taxiway names. All things still to be discussed I guess.

On all the videos I've seen showcasing BATC there seems to be an echo or a small amount of reverb on the voices which obviously isn't realistic. I wonder if they are aware.
Responses are a little too fast for my liking? Good for experienced, but tricky for us numpties! 🙂
A little like real life at some airports. But everything a controller says is written out for you - so you can see it and learn it.

Don't fully understand this though. Few issues:
- Isn't it against VATSIM rules to fly on the network without being tuned into UNICOM in an uncontrolled area? And don't you kind of need to be on UNICOM when coming into approach or taking off both for the rules and practicality? I know you could still monitor UNICOM on COM2, but bit of an immersion killer.
- Wouldn't changing your squak cause some confusion for controllers when you re-enter a controlled airspace? Not fully sure how squak assignment works, so sorry if it is normal for squaks to change. But not been asked to do this when flying in VATSIM.
- Controllers coming online while you are being controlled by BeyondATC would mean calling up the same frequency again to be identified... Would also be an immersion killer imo.
Kinda feel like BeyondATC would need to reach out to VATSIM and work out a way it can operate alongside VPilot for me to be interested. They could use their traffic injection alongside VPilot so it fills empty gates and then switches to the real pilots when they log in and populate that gate on the network (something I would buy as a standalone software btw).
With regards to control, BeyondATC would need to be able to view which airspaces are controlled and remain silent when you are in them, and then turn back on when you are in UNICOM areas and request you call the center via CPDLC. Even with all of this, there would need to be a free VATSIM version for good control, as it would rely on everyone having BeyondATC for vectoring and shortcuts and so on to work in UNICOM areas. It sounds far too complicated/impossible to be done , but only with that kind of integration would I be interested unfortunately.
I know I am asking for the world with the above, but it is the only level of integration I would feel is not a cheap hack and is worth spending money on. I am happy enough with VATSIM, especially as it is extremely busy most weekends now. When BeyondATC was announced, I felt VATSIM was dead, but it's really picked up and I would only want it to fill in VATSIM gaps now. But this kind of hack seems clunky and not practical.
It goes without saying that if you're approaching an airport with other traffic on VATSIM, you must announce your intentions. Easy enough to do and can monitor 122.800 on Com 2 with ease.
Recycling your sqwak code to the VATSIM one when in controlled airspace isn't a difficult task either (as long as you wrote it down somewhere). 👍
Day 1 for me. Can't wait. This is going to provide another level of realism that has long been on my wish list for decades! BATC team have already shown that they are focused and serious about providing a first class product with supporting customer service too.

Hey Gavin hope you’re well. Were those AI generated copilot voices or recordings you made for the video? If Ai generated, what training to get system to speak in your voice (like on ground at LGAV) and reconnect to Brindisi ATC?
They were AI generated. The BATC guys asked if they could use my voice as one of the co-pilot voices and I said yes. Just for fun.
I didnt have to do anything at all. Their tech created the voice just from the RUclips videos. Amazing really.
So that was just for you, or can any user have this AI feature to generate their own AI gen copilot responses? Thanks.
I think this is just something the guys at BATC have done (with my permission) and some other content creators as well.

I do enjoy your streams and videos gavin, but i think your being very shortsighted here. Do you not think that you are encouraging people not to monitor unicom and make calls to aid other traffic? Inevitably, we will ge clueless people who will come onto the approach at heathrow using beyond atc, neglecting to make calls on unicom and crippling SA for others while causing chaos in the process. And of course, your not meant to change your transponder code on Vatsim without ATC permission so i'm not sure where your coming form there.
All in all, I just feel that you, and many other people on RUclips, are shilling for Beyond ATC; without a good excuse to do so. I have a sour taste in my mouth from when they tried to get away with their original price structure and I dont find their voices very impressive.

I am a very old (80 years) real life pilot ( no longer flying but summing here in Kona Hawaii almost every day) I have been a flight simmer since 1983 (then on a Mac Classic).
I have been elated since discovering the Beyond ATC project. Just tell me where and when to pay---i am in with and down with the program and the Premium voices!

If you can afford premium voices I would take a look at SayIntensions as it has real Ai and not scripted responses. Interaction is like you conversing with a human on the other end. We are fortunate to have two wonderful products from 2 different developers bringing us ATC!!
The crossover with VATSIM is great but what about the squawk? Will VATSIM not have an issue with you choosing the squawk
I might be being overly hopeful, but I'd guess that BATC might be adding a settings option, for Vatsim, or other online ATC network users, to allow BATC to retain a Vatsim-assigned squawk code. BATC could perhaps easily shuffle around squawk codes, if an AI aircraft had already had it assigned.
Day one purchase for me, no doubt. Question, though, I don't do VATSIM, and I'm happy to just let it auto-respond and control the radios for me. I just would like to know if/how it will play with FSTL until the traffic injection is added?

Without ai injection, will beyond atc be able to manage traffic separation, correct descent time/range and give me expected runway, airpressure in decent time etc? Now i use ms default atc and have to request altitude decrease to stay on descend profile and just hope i get the rest of the instruction in time to rush in the parameters in the pmdg fmc. Just to discover air traffic infront of me on short final and then go around instruction 200ft above ground.😊
No. BATC can only control it's own traffic.
After having a whinge after watching one of Gav's videos as I thought it was a subscription service (I'd had a bad day at work), I have to admit that I can't wait for it to be released.
I think its going to be a great aid to actually getting onto Vatsim.
Question though. I take it you would still file your flight on the Vatsim network. Surely they wouldn't want you just popping up mid flight?
