As a Bahá’í I can totally relate to this. My parents (mom really) pushed Christmas on us for years. She was determined to show my children that Christmas was better. It didn’t work. I had zero interest in the holiday, celebrating Ayyám-i-Há as our primary celebration. So even now in their late teens, that’s what my kids look forward to.
The thing is I get that speech from her. She is gorgeous strong and smart But the thing is she’s also in couple with Paul who’s whole personality is rejecting his father so I kind of feel the correct message was given but to the wrong child
