She shouldn’t be pressured to be like Marsai because they are in the same young age bracket. Comparing them was unfair and slightly inappropriate. She’s young, gifted and black (or mixed) - and her whole mantra is “be yourself” - don’t bring up someone else and ask “do you plan to be like xyz???”

I am mixed race and have always been viewed as black to other races outside of African Americans... I look similar to this girl, hair and skin complexion, and not one white person (or other races for that matter), not one, has said to me "you have to choose, are you white or black?" They may know I'm of mixed race but they have always viewed me as black because that's what I am and that's how I look!
People keep talking about the one-drop rule lol! That only matters if you look black there are people who are 1/8, or even 1/4 black and don't look it all! Not saying they can't claim Black but the one-drop rule does not apply to them cause they do not look black...The one-drop rule was created because of racism and that's it! if you look black, you're black, and you're going to be treated as such. If you don't, who is to know unless you tell them. sorry but that is the sad truth! our world judges you on your appearance and that is that!!!
