Breath of the Wild is amazing in many aspects, and its soundtrack is no exception. The town themes evoke feelings of nostalgia and represent each of the settlements extremely well. The battle themes are equal parts lively and epic, adding to the dangerous aura of this version of Hyrule. The character themes and cutscene music are melancholic and powerful, highlighting the struggles that these characters experience and the roles they play in the narrative. All of this complementing a beautiful sound design for a grand open world, adding flavor where needed without intruding on the solemn nature of a ruined Hyrule. Add in some gorgeous and clever instrumentation, and Breath of the Wild's soundtrack becomes not only a phenomenal score in-game, but also a truly wonderful experience on its own. I hope you enjoy this compilation of my favorite tracks from this incredible game :)
I recieved my copy of BotW on the same day this mix released. I played it for the first time last night and had a grand old time! I'm excited to see more as I continue playing! This mix is really helping me stay hyped while at work. Great work!
For what some might consider the most overrated Zelda game, the soundtrack truly is underrated. From it's subtle and beautiful use of themes from games past, blending them with Botw's own unique style, to all new pieces that have instantly ingrained themselves as new classics. Every village theme is beautiful in their own right, while still communicating the culture and themes of their respective people. The music in the wild is contemplative and unobtrusive, changing seamlessly when approaching a shrine or riding your horse. Not only does the soundtrack excel in moments of serenity, but also in the bombastic action sequences. Everyone for the rest of their life will remember the opening piano of the guardian theme (you call it trauma, I call it art), and the boarding sequences of each of the divine beasts (save Rudania) each stand among the best Zelda has to offer. Not to mention the dungeon themes themselves, which develop as you solve more and more puzzles. And say what you will about the Dark Beast Ganon fight, but the music just does not fail to excite me (I sometimes wish I could steal some of that pianist's energy). Overall, this is my favorite Zelda soundtrack, which says a lot considering the quality from the past games. Thanks for making this compilation!
I agree 100%! I especially love how they use musical callbacks to previous games in the series while still establishing a unique style. It really ties into the idea that BotW is something new/different for the series but still Zelda at its core

This is such a great compilation! It roughly follows the flow of a typical playthrough instead of being a random mishmash of songs from the OST
