#physicalmedia #physicalmediacollecting #physicalmediacollectors
I was out for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday and the crowds proved to me that Physical Media is alive and well.
I no longer really have a store to shop in for that locally.
I've been collecting physical media since the early 80's as a kid. Even though I have almost 200tb of movies on my server, I still enjoy collecting the physical copies.
That's awesome! You're doing it right, and as long as you still enjoy it. I enjoy collecting too and just want to keep having fun with it.
I shall enjoy the collection of physical media I've gotten so far. Hopefully I'll be able to get more soon.
Same here!! 🙋♀️
Heck yeah man! I'm with you on that 🤘
The problem I’m having with physical media right now is space. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m having to pile movies over each other. The problem is I don’t have any place other than my bedroom where I can display things. I wish I had a room I could dedicate solely to my collections. I might try to free up space by boxing every DVD that I also have on Blu-ray, and if that isn’t enough, I may have to start only displaying my favorites.
That is always a major problem when collecting. Outside of getting that room, the best you can do is whatever you feel comfortable with.
U need to buy bookshelves for ur movies and cds 💿 that’s how u organize ur movies u dont keep them on the floor or if u have cabinets like me u can put them there too and get rid of movies u don’t want own
@ I have custom made bookshelves. They’re all full. The problem is I only have room for movies on one side of my room.
@ buy more bookshelves
@@RobertQuant I have little room for more. I could possibly put another by my door, but it would be positioned rather awkwardly. I’m also using my bedroom as a library, which is why the other side of my room is covered with books.
I love take me home tonight Greg I saw it in theaters owned it on Blu-ray since it’s been out
It's such a fun movie. Just something about it makes it a good watch.
My problem is the price going up. Now that the UHD 4K format is being pushed, the price of discs keeps going up! I buy less discs because of that, but then I also collect toys(mainly 3.75 inch Star Wars action figures as well).
As long as you collect what you want is all that matters. I agree the prices going up is a big problem, but I hope things will level out eventually.
That’s only 4K though buying DVDs and blue rays are more cheaper But the steelbook comes with 4K and blue ray together
Is 4K really being pushed though? I’m not seeing that.
I have about half those titles. Good stuff. Black Moon Rising was recently on Kino’s OOP page.
@@SumDumGy I didn't know it was going OOP, people better get on it before it's gone.
@ Already done! I think I picked it up during their last Spring into Summer Sale. Linda…mmmm… had to.
I like the VHS hat. I only have about 15 vhs tapes left, but I treasure them.
I was just having thoughts like this today regarding my Physical Media collection. Where it feels like I have a hard time enjoying it lately. In terms of the perspective of me watching them. Because to me, it feels like there are movies in the library that I definitely feel the need to watch on a tight deadline, or in a given specific order. Especially those of a series, that I feel the need to marathon each installment of it. Similar to that of binge-watching on a Streaming Service. Your timing has never felt so right. Maybe the "taking a breath" advice is what I need if I'm to enjoy my collection overall. Unless you have a similar piece of advice to me, in terms of how I can enjoy watching from my movie collection again.
I would say do the same with watching you collection. You shouldn't feel like you have to watch this or that. Take a breath, maybe stop watching, and then wait until you get the urge to watch something you own. Let it come back naturally.
@@FanZceneVidsYou’re absolutely right about getting the urge to watch, as it ebbs and flows like the tide. That ebb and flow also comes with the new releases😂!
"What's that smell?!"
"Dookie."
😂😂
I laugh at that every time lol
Money and time is my main problems right now. I have to severely limit what new releases I get, simply because it’s not in the budget.
Time is also a struggle because between work and taking care of all my other responsibilities there’s not a lot of time to watch. My free time is usually spent watching movies though
Uncle Buck!
Physical Media ❤❤❤❤❤
That's what I would say to everyone too, just be happy with what you have and don't be constantly afraid that you might miss out on something if you don't get the next edition. You have enough Movies in your collection that you actually enjoy but you don't watch anymore because of all the FOMO 😱
And it's logical that physical media is getting more and more expensive because It's no longer being produced for the masses but only for the Collector Community and If 40, 50 and more is too much, which in my opinion it is, then you just leave it alone, wait until it gets cheaper or you buy it used.
This hobby is not intended to be a competition where it's about who owns the most editions or if you don't prefer slipcovers you're not a real collector, which in my opinion is absolute nonsense anyway because anyone who actually claims something like that clearly doesn't understand what it's actually about.
If someone prefers DVDs then they can do it, the same goes if someone only likes 4Ks. It should be fun and remind us of the time before the BS of digitalization began.
I only buy what I love and what I am 100% sure that I will put in the player often. Ultimately, it's about the Movie you like. I don't have the space or the time for over 1000 Movies on Physical Media.
It's been a long journey for me personally, from VHS to DVD and finally Blu-ray and i wouldn't go any further and that's fine.
So people, have fun and watch films like you used to and leave your smartphone off sometimes because I think that's the biggest problem nowadays.
"The Wraith" what a cool film from the 80s, the soundtrack alone gives me goosebumps, exactly my taste and Charlie Sheen is great too 😎🤘
And that's exactly what I mean, we have such great Movies and we just don't watch them enough.
Thanks Greg and Godspeed 💿📼📀🤘🍿
Well said and you definitely got it down. Enjoying what you like is really the best way. The Wraith rules and heck yeah on that soundtrack 🤘
might be good to visit with a former physical book librarian, they had these same problems before vhs, how did they deal with hoarding vs collecting.
Personally I got ze ro ntrest for the new 4K/bluray releases. Newer movies are mainly shht and these speacial rereases are way too expensive, and way too large size wise . usually I skip almost every video where collector prags about they new 1000€ purhases 🤪👎 for me best content are videos where normal people/collectors show their basic movie releases and talk about those and why they have them. Sure, I got blurays, some steelbooks, but still today, dvd is the number1 format for me.
I completely get it. That's why I wanted to do a video like this and show some titles that are just simple and that I enjoy.
I mean, I wouldn’t exactly call myself “normal…”
I enjoy my media collection and finding a Blu Ray movie in the charity shops that Iv'e been looking for for ages
95% of my movie purchases are used but I have bought a few new titles during the Black Friday sales but I still have a cap of what I'm prepared to pay for a movie and I have never gone into debt or will ever go into debt building my collection as there is no way I could enjoy it knowing I was in the hole
Charity and thrift stores are excellent places to buy blu-rays. Yeah I just can't see going into debt over physical media, that's just not enjoyable in collecting.
Nice content Bro
hiii
I’m from India
I find it really embarrassing when the Andy Sidaris flicks get the Blu-Ray treatment before an Arnie classic like *_True Lies._* 🤦♂️
Waiting for Hidalgo on 4k❤
I like to go out and hunt for physical media…..naked 🤤
I'm old, sort of a waste to buy most the time. I do get a few so after I pass my kids can think "omg! I never knew he liked that" I'm old e-nuff to not even to be able to show them 1/2 of what I'm into.... nor do they care at this point
I get that. Hey when they find out that will be a big surprise for them lol
That’s why u only buy movies of music 🎶 ur honing to use a lot 😅don’t spend ur money on things u won’t watch
@@RobertQuant This works in most cases, but the are a few films that are a must have. I, my self, may not watch them with the time I have left, but my adult children can't pass up free stuff. Some things they may not watch now but they will when it sets on their shelves.
Not familiar with any of the titles presented in this video.
Hope some of the titles interested you. Always fun to discover something new.
