Here’s my method: I check out 95% of the films/tv and music I want via local library. I then make a backup onto to my computer, and store it on a NAS (network attached storage). From there I basically have my own curated streaming service in the home - offline and no subscriptions. It takes a little work and effort to make such a set up (sometimes called a home media server), and the initial cost of the NAS, hdd’s, optical drive, and ripping software can be a barrier for some, but it more than pays for itself quickly, when you consider the fact that 95% of the physical media is borrowed from the library, plus no streaming subscription fees. There’s like a 5% of the stuff the library won’t have, so that stuff I buy, but then resell after making a backup. Hope this helps. Also, making personal backups is 100% legal - and it’s only when the backups are sold as bootlegs is it illegal.
same iv got a digital collection... and even then i find myself running out of space. and having to cut down. would i watch this again? just to get some more gigs on the portabil harddrive
There is a declutter/organizer I have followed for years and she always said she asks could I replace this easily? And another thing of using the thrift store to borrow things when she needs them and they can hold them when she doesn’t. Also she says the container is the limit whether it’s a drawer or cabinet once it’s full you have to remove something to put new things in there. Her name is Dana K White. She’s written books, 100’s of podcasts and has a YT channel as well. 😊
The way you reminiscence about your emo-monochrome minimalism was quite funny and frank. I think most of us have been there and are a little embarrassed about it.
I been Collecting DVDs CDs for a long time just now starting to be a minimalist I have over 400 DVDs that I watch daily basis I don’t use streaming services at all I also use VHS’s as well I’m kinda like you in the way we have things in common Spencer
