- Chicken Tikka Dhansak at Rasoi Cottage, Redditch
August 2022
I was especially pleased to be invited to do some filming and cooking in the kitchens of Rasoi Cottage because they are listed as the no.1 top eatery in Redditch on Trip Advisor. The chef and owner Nasim Rubin Ahmed started cooking BIR style food from a very early age, and has a huge wealth of experience.
I was interested in how Nasim (Rubin) cooks a Dhansak for customers, and he happily oblliged for the video. You'll see and hear by my reaction of tasting it that it was very good!
Many thanks to Rubin and the staff at Rasoi Cottage!!!

Is there nothing Dave Grohl can't turn his hand to?!
Lol
😂😂
This place was my local greengrocers as a kid growing up in the 80s in Redditch. It was called 'Oakenstore.' The owners name was Ken and my best mate who went on to become my best man worked for him. Brings back some memories ❤
I'm watching this while in the process of making beans on toast. Pray for me.
Fuck all wrong with beans on toast it's a meal of the gods... Bit of cheese n chilli sauce aswell...
@@kevnormansell6005 Shit I forgot about that.
Start making dhals mate. Cheapest dish to do and quick
I keep coming back to this vid, the chef is an absolute artist.
Bang on that very informative cheers plus the chef looks like the foo fighters lead singer dave
Nice to see a slightly different technique 👍
I am lucky enough to eat here regularly. The food is made with absolute skill and care.
I'm sat here watching this at ten past eleven on a Monday night and by god, I have never wanted a curry more in my life than right now.
Tell me about it mate
I’m still in the kitchen guys if you’re local. I don’t mind cooking something up for you 👨🍳
@@MrRubin1977 Thanks for the offer. Sadly im in Manchester but if im ever in the area I'll come and buy a curry. 👍😁
I'm watching it at 9am and feeling the same.
Wow, I feel this is one of the best ones you have done visiting different restaurants. Felt I learnt so much from this one
Yes I agree would like to watch more of his dishes. Excellent vid
Will definitely give that restaurant a try. Food looks amazing, thank you.
thanks to the chef, seems very knowledgeable most excellent viewing thanks for uploading
Excellent video. That chef really does care. I wish it was my local is my only complaint
I love dahnsk that looks fecking amazing
Delicious looking. My compliments to the Chef. 👍
What a cool chef. Looked amazing.
That looked so nice and interesting how they cook seperately :)
ive watched shit loads of videos ..when it comes to BIR and believe me..ive never seen a skim of the pan that way..always skimming the sides with the front of the spoon..he can easily skillfully use the back also half the way around..amaaaaaaaaaazing....great video..(standard for you) Richard :) ..
Dansak is my favourite but I don’t think I’ve ever had the tikka version. Looks incredible
Really delicious looking
My favourite
Thanks for the narrating I couldn't hear his voice
audio all on right
This guy was GOOD
I can smell that thru my laptop screen. Oh my.
Surprised to see Patak’s Balti Paste going in?
I’m not convinced a 2nd ‘watery’ base is really necessary. Surely you can add some normal base and a splash of hot water to thin it out?
Need to sort the sound out Rich, lost opportunity on a good video
You hearing left channel only?
@@MistyRicardo yes, couldnI see a mic on chef? If so it's not audible on the vid...am.watching on mobile youtube
@@MistyRicardo Only one channel, like one of the other videos I commented on. The kitchen recording is hard-right, same as the other.
Chef had a mic but it wasn't workIng for this video. Next video all should be good. Thanks for the input.
In my right ear again
Instead of dumping all that sugar in, use the juice of the pineapple.
Yes but then it would taste sour. This is why he has a cooking channel and you don't mate.
@@NorthernWanderer. First of all, who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that? I cook Indian, Thai and Indonesian which blows Indian and Thai. I have been trained by actual restaurant owners. I know what I am talking about. Any time I'm in the UK and order a Dhansak, it is finished with a whole can of pineapple rings and the juice. That does not make a Dhansak taste sour. Direct use of white sugar is bad for you and is your bodies enemy. White sugar is bleached and is proven to turn directly to fat and parts absorbed into your bone marrow. Turbinado sugar is better, palm sugar even better. You don't know what you're talking about, and another thing, I'm not your mate!
Sugar is sugar, sorry mate.@@philstevens9914
all this base gravy in these BiR resturants,.. its there to make their lives easier but what it does is just make everything taste very similar, with the exception of a key ingredient here and there. not a fan of using it.
I agree in some restaurants that's true but definitely isnt the case at the Rasoi. I eat there regularly and every dish is different .
