Whitney is the greatest vocalist of all time but she’s not the best selling. Whitney has the best selling female album and the best selling female single. World wide Whitney has sold about 222 million albums/singles. But Madonna is the best selling female artist of all time with over 335 million albums/singles. But nobody can come close to Whitney’s voice. Whitney is the most awarded female artist of all time with far fewer albums released than the 4 other ladies ahead of her in sales. That’s why she’s the very definition of quality over quantity. Whitney is THE VOICE.

@@samsmith1875 I don’t know if that’s very accurate but my original comment is for the person who falsely claimed Whitney is the best selling female artist of all time. He didn’t say anything about up until 1994 but specifically said “of all time”. By 1994 Whitney had only released 3 studio albums and one soundtrack album, while Madonna had released almost 20 by 1994. So it’s a pretty sure bet that by 1994 Madonna _still_ had more than Whitney in album sales. Now don’t get me wrong, do I think Madonna is a better vocalist than Whitney? Well we all know Madonna isn’t a vocalist but an entertainer with limited singing abilities. I will also add this, in the 80’s Madonna sold 70+million copies world wide with 4 albums..Whitney sold over 50 million copies with just 2 albums in the 80’s. And finally, even with the top 5 best selling female artist of all time, Whitney with far fewer albums is on that top 5 list. Whitney didn’t have to release album after album to remain relevant..just saying. But I won’t discredit that Madonna is still the best selling female artist of all time when you look at world wide sales.

Whitney will always remain my favorite singer of all times, her discography is fantastic, and that voice is incomparable to anyone else’s, her nickname “The Voice” is descriptive but somehow doesn’t even do her justice. You need to watch the HBO Heroes concert she did for the troops who returned from the Persian Gulf, it just shows how amazing and talented she was…R.I.P Queen!

If you want to truly hear her at her peak listen to her singing I Am Changing (San Francisco 1986-there’s no video it’s just audio) it will blow your mind. There’s an audio of her singing He,I Believe in Japan 1990 it will amaze you. There’s so many amazing LIVE performances of her that I can give you like: Porgy/And I Am Telling You/I Have Nothing, My Man/Lover Man/All The Man I Need, One Moment In Time, A Quiet Place, Didn’t We Almost Have It All…so many different versions of her singing All The Man I Need…and one the first recordings of her at 16 years old singing Eternal Love…there’s a reason why she’s called the gold standard….there’s a reason why she’s the most influential female vocalist, there’s a reason she’s the most awarded female artist of all time, there’s a reason why with far fewer albums Whitney is in the top 5 of best selling female artist of all time…simply put there’s a reason why she is called THE VOICE.

There is one more singer I love, and she is Sohyang, a Korean national treasure singer. Whitney Houston producer David Foster listened to her cover song (I Have NotThing) and performed together at a concert in Japan after a long plea. Even the original songwriter was impressed, she loves Whitney very much, and her other song 'I Will Always Love You', has also been covered in a TV program called Begin Again. If you have time, I highly recommend that you meet this wonderful and beautiful singer.
You will never regret it.
