Effortless is exactly what I think of when I think of Whitney Houston. Greatest female singer I've ever heard and she didn't even have to try. Her work on The Bodyguard soundtrack is some of the best female vocals I've ever heard.
And she sang the entire song with a smile on her face. That's how easy it was for her🙌🏾
and this is in a higher key i think
Just think no studio, no auto tune, no sound mixing. Just a sound stage and 1 amazing voice
It's a TV studio.. With Network TV type money... U think they just stuck her there with a "Mr. Microphone"?? Yes she's got a unique, amazing, pure, for the ages voice, but to think they just stuck her there with a radio shack microphone and nothing else, is ridiculous
@@jckdnls9292 I don’t think they mentioned anything about a microphone. At least that’s not what they were insinuating..
@Jck Dnls Are you saying she needs a studio quality mic? You don't think her voice is good enough on its own? I'm sure the NBC studio has great mics anyway, I know they didn't have to go buy one at the store just because she was singing.
@@AngryIrishMan read my comment again. Ty.
@@pmbbmp True. I have run live sound for music performances and I perform. unless the voice to music is properly mixed, it sounds awful. Even individual instruments have to be mixed so as not to drown anyone out. Unless someone is singing alone and acapella mixing is a must
OMG she was fuckin so good.
Just look how young she is here! I was a kid when she became a star. This is just amazing!!
She never doesn’t give me chills. That’s a voice 🎙
No. THE voice
She had one amazing voice!!
People don’t know that in this performance, she sang this song in a higher key than written or recorded. She did this often. Amazing!!! Bravissimo!!! 🌹🌹🌹💐
Her Mother was a backup singer for Elvis. Her Mother's name is Cissy Houston
What an amazing talent. What a tragic loss.
80s vintage Whitney is the best. Back when she was performing her songs in a higher key because it was so effortless.
My mom bought that album. I would stare at the cover admiring her beauty and wishing I looked like her. Whitney was stunning and a model before going into a music career.
She was amazing.
Whitney was only 48 when she Died, her Death was in Feb 2012.
Whitney's performance of "All The Man I Need" during HBO's "Welcome Home Heroes" is perhaps her greatest, and certainly aside from her Super Bowl appearance, her most emotional performance ever recorded. Give that a watch.
I agree! It's top 3 for me!
That performance isn't even one of her top 30 greatest. That's how much of a virtuoso Whitney was; she's simply the GOAT.
I’m getting goosebumps just reading the comments. It just shows what a power house she was; simply amazing! Whitney was/is the GOAT. I know of singers who came before but Whitney, and no disrespect to those singers b/c they are legends, but Whitney is my top female vocalist of all time hands down.
TRUTH! I heard Whitney's vocals live and untouched at David Foster's house in Malibu. She sounds just like the record, live. It's astounding. Greatest voice ever to have lived.
@@TrevorPalmatiershow wow I read his autobiography so I would imagine how it must've been with her in the studio. He said she would always do her own rendition and sometimes he had to fight her to sing it the way he wanted her to but she's an emotional singer and sings how her soul tells her to! Do u remember anything about her recording session u saw??
Totally remember the hype when she burst on the scene. She didn't waver or disappoint into becoming the legend she was with the highs, lows, nuttiness, and untimely death. 🤙
This is such a side chick anthem lol but I've never took it in as a child when my parents were playing it her voice was so just majestic
This is so true!
I'm listening to the words right now like "holdup🤔🤔🤔" 😂😂😂 funny how we hear songs younger and just like the good singing, melody, beat or whatever then you listen as an adult and go wow I get a whole new meaning.
Idk when I would've learned Rick James was talking about weed in Mary Jane if my mom didn't already tell me as a youngin 😂 probably as a full grown adult because no one was calling it Mary Jane when I was coming up so idk where I would've found out that's what it was.
If you Blokes didn't think I was going to show up for this Whitney Houston reaction Whammy!! What a legend #chuntNATION
"Whitney's voice is a human treasure ****That gift will not be passed out for a very long time...especially in that magnitude!***!!"
Her mother sang backup for Elvis. They'll never be another Whitney!!
Elvis Reactions would be cool too
and Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan!
Her dad is Elvis
@@DWQJVB No….
@@AxelFoleyDetroitLions yes
she was 19 on the David Letterman show then. Destin for greatness.
Born 9 augusti 1963... and this was September 12, 1985. 22?
She was 21 or 22.
@@freedomm 21 or 22
Going to have me crying . I was not alive when this show aired but I’ve never heard anyone sing as well as Whitney Houston ❤
The late great Whitney Houston ❤️
We miss her 🤘🤘
she was 22 here. (born in 1963)
Yes... Born 9 augusti 1963... and this was September 12, 1985.
My beautiful voice ever.
A lot of the comments are saying Bobby Brown was the one that introduced Whitney to drugs when that’s actually not true. Her older brother Michael was the one to introduced her to drugs back in the 80s long before she met Bobby. Regardless of this, it’s such a tragedy all the demons Whitney had to face throughout her life. A true gem and one of the best to ever do it.
As a Brit I never knew that. Because she was so popular across the pond as well we all hated Bobby
There's still enough reason to hate Bobby.
He beat her. Abused her. Felt jealous of her success. Cheated on her. Spat on her face. Didn't help her as a partner when she spiraled down.
He may not have introduced her but definitely contributed to her eventual downfall.
@@karant1378 definitely not saying Bobby was a victim, just clearing up the misconception that he is the one that started her on drugs.
@@karant1378they were both bad influences on each other. It wasn’t just Bobby. He had his issues too but Whitney made some choices of her own.
It is ridiculous and insulting to blame it all on an externality. She made her own choices and unfortunately paid the ultimate price. Such a shame. What a beautiful and talented woman.
such an amazing talent!!! wow!!!
Imagine randomly going to Letterman, there's a musical guest you've never heard of, and you get to see that. Wow.
Her 'Star Spangled Banner' at the Super Bowl is still the most amazing performance I've ever heard. Everyone struggles with that song, everyone. She was the only one to make it sound like honey poured in your ears. It's stunning.
At the time of this performance, she had two songs already hit the various Billboard charts in 1984/1985. The last song on her debut album, "Hold Me," a duet with Teddy Pendergrass only reached #48 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. The second single, "You Give Good Love" was her first top ten, peaking at #3 ...
Interesting fact about this song, "Saving All My Love For You" was the first of SEVEN consecutive number one songs she would have (and broke the record The Beatles had with six & her record still stands). She would follow this with "How Will I Know." "The Greatest Love Of All," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)," "Didn't We Almost Have It All," "So Emotional" & the song the broke the record, "Where Do Broken Hearts Go."
She was a generational talent. Absolutely heartbreaking that she got brought down by drugs . She was thrilling to hear
Oh you have no idea what she was actually capable of. Check out more of her stuff live in concert. She went OFF!!
True!!
Baby face said no one really knows how good of a singer she was
It doesn't hurt when your mother sang backup for your godmother, Aretha Franklin, and your aunt is Dionne Warwick.
Pretty good company there I think 👍🏻
Her mother also was a backup singer for “the king of rock & roll” Elvis Presley.
Whitney looks like Dionne. You look @ Dionne, you’re seeing Whitney🖤💛
@@pmbbmp Amen💯
Dionne and Whitney were cousins
Please more Whitney 🙏🏾
You almost forget that this is a side chick song because of how well she sung
She sang the whole song in a higher key!!
I used to joke that Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin had so much vocal power, that small children shouldn't sit in the front row unless they be blown backwards a few seats
Best ever!!!! More Whitney ❤
The greatest female singer ever
For me she is the best female voice
Love her💕
she also was a very spontaneous singer in that she never sang a song the same way. stemming from her gospel roots. this performance was actually a half step higher than the album version
I miss Whitney so so much!❤❤❤❤❤
To think she only 22 here wow! ❤
She didn’t have to F this performance in the ass like this🥺🥺 Dave didn’t wanna let her hand go🖤💛🖤💛
Sadly most of my memories of her are much later in her life when she had that reality show with Bobby Brown.
Don't do drugs kids.
I still remember last years Christmas song chosen by Mike, Kelly Clarkson's Underneath the 🎄 tree and now it's became my all time favorite Christmas song. Great song selection Mike. Hope you guys do another this year
Thanks Shannon, glad you approved 👊🏻😁
Whitney Houston was 21 years old in 1985 and she passed away in 2012 at the age of 48 😢
Born 9 augusti 1963... and this was September 12, 1985. 22?
i remember that..i was a sophomore in high school..she was amazing..miss her
You need to watch her performance of the song “Home” on the Merv Griffin Show in 1983!! She was only 19 and it was her debut television performance… that put her on the map to producers and what have you to prepare for her debut album
Whitney was just 22 years old doing this amazing performance. This was before she met Bobby, but unfortunately mental health problems created from early childhood on had an impact on her for many years before this.
People often forget that artists like Whitney are human and don't have the perfect happy lives they seem to have. Whitney put up a lifelong unfair fight against her demons and people who treated her badly from childhood on. Her Life store once again shows how important it is to love, guide and treat people well from birth. Just like Whitney, many others have struggled with addiction, depression, insecurity and died an early death because they were bullied, abused and betrayed.
Whitney showed in several interviews that her life was no walk in the park many times and that the media picking on her all the time was hard on her.
I want to cry 😢 😭 😞 I miss her Huff
Man she sounds so young
Goosebumps!!!
😌..Whitney❤
At the time of this performance she had just released her debut album she was only about 22 or 23 years old. She didn’t marry Bobby Brown until seven years later in 1992. So this is at a point in her career before she had been introduced to the destructive forces that Bobby Brown brought to her life.
React to all the man that I need by Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston was born August 9, 1963, Newark, New Jersey, U.S.-died February 11, 2012, Beverly Hills, California. She reportedly accidentally drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, with heart disease and cocaine use as contributing factors.
Office Blokes should react to "The Bodyguard • I Have Nothing • Whitney Houston" by HD Film Tributes. One of her best songs, second to only "I Will Always Love You", imho. This song gets me every time I watch it. So moving. Such a beautiful, talented woman, gone way too soon. She remains the Queen.
Pls react to her “How Will I Know” live at the AMAs😊
She is perfect.
The crazy thing Daz about Whitney Houston is she did not believe she was pretty or that special. She never really knew how special she was. She doubted herself the entire time.
Meanwhile, she looked like a super model.
Amazing.
She's 21 here. She was 49 when she passed a little over 10 years ago.
I think she was 22 here and 48 when she died😢 (not too far off tho😅)
22 since she was born in August. This is after
You blokes are very empathetic, understanding how things could be difficult for people who have so much going for them.
I actually think Dua Lipa has a very nice voice. Obviously not like Whitney, but she has a nice tone.
Love seeing this channel grow the way it is!!
Amazing and tragic at the same time with a big loss.. with like the Office Blokes said Whitney's life at the top of her talent collapsed on itself with spiraling down with her early death and then her daughter died in the same manner as her Mother :(
This is early early in her popularity. I loved her so much, she was my favorite.
She was 22 years old.... in 1985 ....
Valerie Burris Whitney Houston came from a family of singer, her mother sissy is a singer and her cousin Dionne Warwick is a singer . please play Stephanie Mills song ( Home) you guy will be surprised!
Love your channel, awesome reaction. You guys should react to more videos of whitney houston songs; i will always love you, run to you, i have nothing, all the man i need and i am every woman. Greatest singer of our lifetime ❤️
That celebrity comedown and depression from reaching huge heights of fame is similar to athletes when they retire. They go from doing what they love and being admired for it, to sitting at home and often not knowing what to do going forward.
Her introduction to the world was actually 1983 Merv Griffin show where she sang “Home” from the The Wiz
Loved your reaction. Please react more to Whitney Houston!❤
Watch and react Welcome Home Heroes ..her live performance singing all the man I need..Beautiful performance and Talent..Thanku
A once in a generation gift! She was born in 63 like me. I am about to turn sixty next year. She went away too early!!!
She was 22 & 48 when she died in 2012
Whitney was 21 or 22 when this came out, remarkable.
22
I miss these late night shows where every night you'd have a great singer or band to close things out.
I looked it up and when this album came out, Whitney was 21 and I was 2.
Today even auto tune can’t make them sound like this and she is singing live 😂😂😂😂
Whitney wanted to just sing. She didn't didn't do it for the fame. And her dad spent all her money she earned before 99. She was an angel and gone to soon
MadTV has several great sketches with Whitney (alone, with Bobby Brown, with Mariah).
Can't wait to watch this movie!
It was not all of a sudden, it was there the entire time. The public just didn't know.
Whitney didn't have everything. She was molested as a kid and she could not be with the person she loved the most, her "BFF" Robyn. Trauma festers and it has to be dealt with or it can tear people apart.
Some of the side chick classics are so beautiful lol NO ONE and I Mean NO ONE can pull this song off like Whitney, not even the original Ms. Marilyn herself. RIP Nip. 😢
My sister went to HS with her in NJ
We miss this kind of singer… the prime Whitney, prime Mariah, prime Celine
Though Whitney started out hitting the charts in 1985, the major "diva" era wasn't the 80's but the 90's when Celine Dion and Mariah Carey both started charting in 1990.
Her mother was a backup singer for Elvis Presley.
Her mom was a backup singer for Elvis!
That level of fame is very isolating. It does feel a bit strange hearing her called an up and comer.
I didn't know Anthony Hopkins did RUclips!
Tom Petty said he wouldn’t be able to sleep for almost 2 days after a show….his wife said he’d literally pace around the hotel room until the sun was up and then later than day he might sleep
She was 22 at that time.
👏💐
This was the Original version but Clive said it was too R&B so the version you hear on the album was watered down.
Can we have Aiden back for a few reactions.
Edit: she had a flawless voice. The timbre tone control musicality enunciation everything. Never will be another.
Whitney Houston mom was one of the background singers for Elvis, and Whitney is cousin to Dion Warwick.
