    This past September I sparred a Golden Gloves fighter from another gym, dude’s had a ton of fights already and this dude Fr exposed my ass and made me realize how open I leave my face and body to shots even if my hands are up, it made me realize I gotta have my hands more to my face. Made me leak and almost made me take a knee cause of a sternum shot he threw. Gave me a taste of how real boxing felt like. Biggest learning experience of my life. It also made me realize the sport is absolutely for me. I didn’t care I got my ass whooped, it just made me wanna keep training and work on my weak points, the sport may hurt but I love to do it.

    Coach V love your content! My experience hard sparing was awesome lol Me being a rookie having to spar with someone in fight champ the coach made me go hard at him and he wasn't allowed to go anything more than 50% against me. The more I train the more I see how serious boxing and martials arts are and getting knocked out is no joke.

    Hi coach. i really appreciate your blunt way of putting it out there. Im not an aggressive fighter at all. i do have a significant amount of fear when i spar. When i first began to spar i thought this isnt what i thought it would be at all. The way the coach put it was we need to treat each other like a birthday present. So i never go hard at all and that's a huge mental block that im trying to overcome. i would love to get over that and flip that switch you know? Lots of respect

    My first spar was ok i was exchanging trying to move but at the end of the second round he caught me flush with a right on the cheek i was ok but my coach stopped it, I’ve been training for about 3 months now im scared every day i go to the gym that i might have to spar but i know it’s necessary to be able to defend myself

    My University had a boxing club. We'd get 30+ guys showing up at the beginning. After 3 weeks of technique then we'd heave sparring and I'd see guys leave. It is what it is. But nobody should get hurt.

    My first sparring session was good. Had good work. But after a year of boxing, I thought I improved so much from where I began. Then one day, my last sparring session, I got the shit beat out of me. I do worry about brain damage of course. I'm seeing a doctor soon just to make sure im okay. But yea, I do question myself whether I'm cut out for this...it all happend 2 days ago...right now I'm just resting my body and mind from the rigorous training and sparring. Hopefully I do make a good recovery from this beating that I took and continue to box. I dont wanna be out of shape. I know this mistakes I made that day. My goal is to be as healthy as possible when I fight. These are my values. Any thoughts on this? Is there a better recovery process? Was quitting boxing ever on your mind? It was for me but I dont think ill ever give up on this sport. I love this sport too much, it bought life into me. Without it I probably would have been a fat looser. This is just my story after a year of boxing.

    Yooo lmao I know this video is because I said in the comments on your sparring video I do appreciate your advice and you making a video on it I was just saying it because that's actually how I feel and it does have truth behind it you should only spar if your competitive and if your trying to train for a while before actually hoping in the ring you should not be regularly sparring

    Hey coach, is boxing for me? I love boxing so much and im always shadowboxing everywhere i am like at work or at the living room etc.. i joined a boxing gym and the coach has professional fighters whove won world titles also. I joimed a 1 hour fitness class in that gym and the main coach pulled me out of it and he said he sees something in me and that ive got talent. He asked me for my age and he said he wants to work with me. The only problem is, im afraid to fight. Im afraid of the long term damage, and im especially scared to spar for some reason. But i love boxing so much and am passionate about it. What do you suggest? Get over my fears of boxing or just do it for fitness? The coach is very legit and i was really happy when he said ive got talent and he wanted to work with me. I just feel like im not built for boxing mentally.. physically im in the best shape ive ever been in. Im 20 years old and run 4.2 miles everyday from tuesday-sunday, and i do boxing afterwards. The training is not a problem at all, its just the wjole fighting part but id love to fight at the same time, its just fear holding me back from success. What do you suggest or do you have any advice for me?

      Bro u sound just like me except the sparring part (that’s the best part of training) but I feel for you the best thing to do is let your passion fight your fears (of sparring) so you can really see how passionate you are and how far we are really ready to go

    • @dan_4531
      @dan_4531 2 года назад +4

      @@slideman4689 for sure bro, its cuz everytime i join a gym they just throw me into the fire in sparring with an agressive fighter and that really makes me you know, fearful or discouraged afterwards. Although i do see why they woukd throe me into the fire, ill have to see if im meant for it not... but thanks for your advice!
