Hey Coach, I'm from Sri Lanka. Not a lot of boxing action happening here but there are great fighters. I got into boxing 4 or 5 months back, I'm 21 now. Had my first boxing match (super middleweight) about 2 months into training (I had about 4 years of combat karate experience so my power punches & movement was there, had to learn the jab though). My first boxing match was a provincial tournament so me & my coach didn't expect much competition. Only one guy showed up & turns out he was the gold medalist at the South Asian games (I was told this after he KOd me). I threw a soft jab to bring him in. He came with a 1-2, I stepped back launched my power hand at his head, he moved and gave a body shot instantly. He put a jab to obstruct my vision & landed the power shot right on the mouth. I was pushed 2 steps back. I was still standing in guard, he was just standing thinking the fight was over, referee counted, I walked backwards to my corner(that's what we did in karate). One of the junior coaches threw in the towel. Later I asked why. He said the dude was a gold medalist & that shot was too much for my first match. I'm not happy or sad about it. I learned so much from that 1.30 minutes in there. I got a silver medal & a busted lip. I'm definitely doing that again & hoping I meet this dude next time as well. That's my story.
Got into boxing to stay outta trouble/street fights, I’ve always loved the feeling of being in a fight. What inspired me to choose boxing over MMA tho is funnily enough Punch Out and the Rocky movies, which looking back now are very far from real boxing. Real boxing is less barbaric and looks more like an artistic way of fighting. Started at 17, wasted time at some subpar gym recently joined a new one and learned so much more here than at the previous one.
My goals is to be a pro boxer and able to give people in my family that always had my back as a kid like basically if they seen me getting jumped they would jump in and fight tooth and nail for me to be abled to give them 10k at least
U should worry more about getting yaself right. Family is not something anyone should ever pay for. As u get older, most of that "family loyalty" is gonna slow down anyway. Worry about getting yourself rich, then bring ya people up
Very well expressed Coach V. !! You have definitely found your calling. You’re the perfect example of “Do what you love & it will never feel like a job…”
I got into the sport for self defense. What other sport is better than a sport which teaches you to defend against punches? I also love the fitness side of boxing, you will get into an amazing shape if you do boxing regularly.
Im looking to join Seattle Boxing Gym out here in Washington before the summer ends. Im 32 and im joining because i love the sport so much and i want to better understand it. I dont plan on performing competitively but who knows maybe if things look right. Have you met alot of ppl who have trained for the same reasons as myself?
Ill be 35 soon and I used to train and spar out of my local PAL when I was a teen. I still like to train but I don't compete so I don't think your alone. Boxing is fun and the best workout u can get. If u do want to compete your still young enough to do some amateur competitions.
Hi coach V I wanna get into boxing do you suggest I get a 1on 1 boxing trainer to start then down the line go to group classes or should I go to group classes first then get a one on one trainer if I need one great video btw and anyone who sees this comment please give me your input
Idk bout group classes, but I’d highly suggest a gym that has you working individually on your own tasks and has other people around the gym doing their own thing w the coach looking over the fighters. Much better than group classes.

Appreciated bro, your likely to be asked this again by a fan when you’ve gone through a huge subscriber boost.

I wanna see this man box 😂
Best coaches in the world didn't necessarily box. Even though he did, he has nothing to prove.
There's a reason boxing is called 4D Chess, can't wait to hire u as a coach mane u seem really level headed.
p.s great vid, big fan of books too :) Art of war is a good one heard you say Sun Tzu

How do I start my boxing Journey?
I'm actually looking for a boxing club or team to join ....I'm so much interested in boxing.
Walk through the door. Find a boxing gym not MMA if your looking for strictly boxing though.
What self help book in your library is your personal favorite?
Do you have any videos of some of your past fights?
where is your gym?

Start with group classes cause most trainers charge more for 1 on 1 training. You’ll progress more in a group setting.
@@CWThe1st thanks
