  • This quilted jacket is so easy and QUICK! It took me 30 mins from measuring to finished and it’s so beginner sewist friendly too. All you need is four rectangles of fabric (the instructions on how to measure these are in the video) and a bit of bias binding. For anyone who is looking for a pattern free project to start off with, THIS IS IT!

Oh I love this so much 😍. I was surprised at how well it fit considering it was all rectangles! I'll definitely be copying this. Can't believe that throw was in a charity shop...what a find 😁 xx

Absolutely Incredible!! I am a beginner and this looks really approachable to me. It's getting colder now and I dream of a quilted jacket like this for this fall. But to buy one with a lovely print is actually kind of pricey. Definitely going to attempt to make one for myself as soon as I thrift a blanket. I will update the comment after I make it! Wish me luck))

I just bought a quilted throw fro a thrift shop to do exactly this type of jacket. Great idea to go cropped and 3/4 sleeves. I was brainstorming how to handle this dilemma. Glad I found your tutorial. Next time salvage some of the binding to put on the neck area to stay consistent. Looks good.

Thank you! I'm going to try this. I just ran into a website that sells heirloom quilts turned into jackets. They are gorgeous. I own a couple of heirloom hand crafted quilts and would have a hard time cutting into them, but this is a good way to try out the process.

Thank you so much for this! I've been hunting for a pattern for this shape of jacket for a couple of weeks, but all I find are jackets with fiddly bits that cost way more than I want to pay or pdfs that I would have to print on my elderly patchy printer. I'm planning on stitching together lots of denim pieces and scraps from other projects to make the fabric for my jacket. Watching this has shown me just how easy it can be. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :)
