I love your coat. I watched an old Shirley Adam’s clip about making the big coat…where she put a kind of tuck in to give structure to the shoulders when the fabric was floppy. You may find it interesting. Was a pretty old clip so she is into shoulder pads etc but is a really nice explanation of variations too.
I think it turned out great. I know it's supposed to be 'boxy' but the fabric helps take a little bit of that away so it's got a little more curve, and doesn't look bulky. I hope I can make this work for me using a thinnner blanket.
Super cute 😊 I have made one in the same material, just grey. I did overlock all round the raw edges first and I found it prevented all the fraying. I also braved it and added a lining. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I would never have attempted this before watching 😁
I love this coat!! It is so lovely! The fabric is gorgeous! You made an Amazing outfit by pairing it with jeans and your white blouse!! Thanks so much for sharing with us!!! ♡
Lovely video. I love homemade & Kitty upped the charm of it all. Your coat turned out beautiful & you look quite elegant wearing it. Great job. Thank you for sharing.
I only wish I could do a jacket like that in one day!! Love the coat…great for a spring day where I live! Thank you for the tutorial, the naughty cat ( I have one also) and doing the hard work for us in making this jacket. I can’t wait to make mine …..hope you finally put those pockets on!
Coat looks fantastic. Well done for persevering, and thank you for sharing your woes. I might try making this from an old woollen blanket that we’re not using.
The coat looks lovely on you. That pattern could easily have pockets added to those horizontal seams at the front 😊 I like patterns that can be easily hacked!
New here. It turned out so cute. I appreciate your perseverance and showing how you had to think things through. I’m definitely a beginner at sewing so I don’t catch everything you are doing but I did learn from watching. I’ll be checking out more of your videos. You have a lovely space to work in.
Glad you worked thru it--it is lovely. Seems the drspe from the looser weave works great here, too firm a fabric & might just be a box! But want to try thus pattern myself, now! (And I often have my "supervisor" on my work table & projects 😂)
Love the cat. I have two maltese dogs who would do the same! 😅. Love this patters it is exactly what I was looking for. I also have times where I measured and planned everything and I still make little mistakes 😔
Replying to my own message because I just had a thought!! That fabric reminds me of Chanel fabric. And the doesn’t hide the seams the Chanel tailleur had the fabric down and the excess was turned in to a fringe. I hope it makes sense but check the classic Chanel tailleur. That could be a solution for this fabric. It looks super soft anyway. I love the coat I will try making it
Only just found your channel. I made the Bog Coat very recently from a quilted throw, I did find doing the template a bit of a head scratcher as hadn’t realised there were instructions 🤦♀️, also I did the bias tape slightly different again because I hadn’t seen the instructions but it turned out very satisfying and will defo do another. Sorry you lost your husband, that was a brave video. My husband is terminally ill with pulmonary fibrosis, he had a lung transplant 7 years ago but is suffering now. Sewing and creating keeps me going…
I like this coat! The color of the fabric is just beautiful. You said that you can have a belt but are you able to have some kind of other closure? I live in a very windy place in the North Atlantic and I think it might be flying open all of the time.

I love this coat! Lightweight spring coat. Beautiful. ❤
That is just lovely and has a great drape. Suits you very well ❤
Not to take away from the lovely jacket you’ve made but I envision this as an easy to make house coat…and yes, pockets would be a must

I love the coat and have been wanting to try it. Thank you.
When I was very young I remember the term duster used for light weight spring coat
Love it, color, simplicity, light weight.
Thank you! 😊

Beautiful outfit. The coat is really beautiful.

Jayne, it looks fabulous! I thought you would change the bias trim because you are a perfectionist and knew it was wrong. Love it!
Thank you so much
It´s a very pretty coat, perfect for spring 😊
Thank you! 😊
Pretty! Now I need to finish my dad's shirt so I can start making bog coats!

It’s quite pretty!
I’m thinking this might be a good pattern for a quilt coat…🧐
Wow! Your coat is beautiful Jane, Well done

Super happy to find you! Appreciate your vulnerability! I found your website and I'm proud of your venture. Beautiful spirit, such a gem ❤

Love the coat! I know you think it’s too drape like type fabric, but to me it works as a light weight coat. Super cute!
Yes! Thank you!

Really cute! I love the fabric.
Thank you! 😊
It turned out really nicely.
Gosh that turned out fab, well done you.
Thank you so much 😊
Looks fabulous on you.
Thank you 😊
Have you tried the continuous binding out of 50cm square. It’s very economical
I have yes …. I guess I wasn’t really being frugal enough but next time will be different xx
I really like the way it looks Good job!
Thank you!
LOVE! Thanks for this!
It looks so cute and fresh on you,it looks like a success to me,although you looked frustrated you got through it.❤❤❤
Thank you! 😊
It turned out very sweet!
Thank you! 😊
Hello I am arleathia.? Wow, working with plaids!? I trying my hand with a plaid wrap skirt! 😊
You can do it!
You did a great job. Looks comfy.
Thank you! 😊
Hi Jayne. It’s really lovely. I like it. 😊
Thanks so much 😊
It's beautiful
Its beautiful! Turned out fantastic 😅
Thank you! 😊
Love it
Looks good.
Looks great, if the fabric was thicker the binding would have been even more challenging. Where can I get the pattern please,
Love it!!
Thank you!!
Well done looks fabulous
It looks great on you, you can still line it as its a simple shape and the lining will help stop it stretching.
Thanks for the tip!
I really like it! Thank you for the sew along.
You’re welcome 😊
You could have ironed on something like SF101 interfacing to add body to your light fabric so it would have more body to work with. Non fraying.
This pattern has no facings, so camouflaging the fused interfacing would present an issue .....
You could put acuff on the end of the sleeve if you want the
Length
I really like it
Luv this💖
I'm 35, too late to learn but my biggest goal is to have a lovely sewing space justtttt like yours and make clothes other than dresses and tops
Too late to learn what? I'm older than you and I've been learning how to sew for the past year. It's never too late
Super cute result.. good work and well salvaged.. looks very comfy and cosy.
Thank you! 😊
I want to try this with a thrifted blanked. Wondering if you can just do a french seam instead of bias tape
Definitely worth a try if your fabrics not too thick xx
I like this coat! The color of the fabric is just beautiful. You said that you can have a belt but are you able to have some kind of
other closure? I live in a very windy place in the North Atlantic and I think it might be flying open all of the time.
You could add a zip I think x
You've created a lightweight Spring "duster"......to knock off seasonal drafts.
some people use weights .. you use a cat .. love it :D
lol yes 😂
Maybe a Chanel Finnish. Woulda worked ?
Hi, I'm new to you tube. How do I access your patterns. I am subscribed but I don't know what to do now? .

Love how it turned out. I do thinks £16.62 is priced for a pattern that you have to measure yourself, just one pattern piece for the neck
Yes I agree there 👏🏻 but I wanted to sew it so badly and also it’s supporting an indi pattern designer but I do agree it is quite pricey xxx
What's this pattern pls
That coat obviously needs pockets, otherwise very cute, pretty fabric 👍🏼
Your black and white assistant is very dear!
I really like your coat. I enjoyed watching. Infact it was quite relaxing but I guess not for you.
Lol yes it was a little frustrating at times xx
This bias thing is really tough... 🙈 why didn't you just sew the pieces right sides together? 😅
Part of the pattern features is the binding on the outside …. you know me Pami never give up 😂 xx
@@TheDressmakersCloset 😅 I know! I would have probably done the same 😆 but if I sew this coat I will not do it with bias 🤣
