I love the cheater fabric one also! I am thinking of making it Amish with a dark navy background!
I like how even though you played around and did a lot of freestyle work, it all came together beautifully because you took the time to cut and apply the binding carefully, with good technique. The devil is in the details! I just finished a jacket using fusible cotton batting, it made the quilting so much easier. But on my next one i will use your idea and try using cotton fleece but i will spray on temporary adhesive to make it easier to control the stretchy fleece when i quilt. The cotton will make the jacket more drapey and soft than when using batting. Thank you for your good demonstration!
Thank you, this will be an enjoyable project! 😊
Hello, I like the way you teach. I am a beginner. I am amused by things you can make yourself. You have no problem repeating and explaining.
Gorgeous jacket and thanks for sharing - I have put this on my list. Thank you
You bring a lot of happiness to the quilting world! Your jacket instructions are perfect. Wishing you much good health, and a very happy summer!
What an amazing teacher you are! I loved the video. Making a quilted jacket is my sewing dream so I will definitely make this one. Thank you :)
If you reverse the sweatshirt so that the fuzzy side is against the back of the blicks, you will have a warmer jacjet plus you don't need to line it.
That’s a really good idea. I’m just placing my blocks so perfect timing.
@@adoptedscot you'll love the effect ...I'm getting ready to construct another jacket...it's a wonderful way to use a sweatshirt that no longer is nice to wear but recycling it into a quilted garment is a win/win situation.
@@dorothydishman4664 Thank you Dorothy. As you’ve done this jacket before did you have a lot of blocks left over. I’ve made them as per instructions but have a lot of the smaller blocks left I.e. only need one large block to almost cover a sleeve. Wondering if I’ve done something totally wrong?
@@adoptedscot I've made several real, all different ways including one piece of fabric from Australia that I just couldn't bear to cut into smaller pieces. Also, one was of 1" pieces resulting in the postage stamp look...no two pieces were the same & I blocked them into color waves somewhat like an ombre effect. My best advice is to fit the sweatshirt to you before adding blocks. After fitting, I cut into separate pieces like sleeves, backing, fronts. If matching design from piece to piece, lie them next to each other with notches to help match. After placing blocks , then I quilt each piece before assembling the garment. Usually I serge or overcast seams...sometimes I sew bias tape on seams to make a smooth inside. Tske your time and think it thru..."measure twice, cut once" ..always saves time and frustration. No rules as to left over blocks...partials are always effective. Good luck.
@@dorothydishman4664 Thank you so much. Funnily enough I bought a small piece of fabric in Australia when I was there earlier this year and have used it as the main squares of the big blocks. It was based on an aboriginal design so has plenty of different colours in it. I’m very much a novice when it comes to things like this - hence me following the pattern ( or at least trying to) - so all your tips are very much appreciated.
Dear Edyta, THANK YOU for sharing this beautiful jacket construction and designs! So very, very inspirational. I must make this jacket! You are a really powerful inspiration!
Your tip about using 1.75" binding is brilliant! Can't wait to try it.
Glad it was helpful!
18 months after you posted this video, this jacket still is in perfect style! It's going to the top of my list for this year, though for me, living in Florida, it will be a winter jacket! Love love love it!
Oh my gosh!! So cute & a great idea for orphan blocks 😊 The cheater fabric-love it!! I have a shower curtain I got years ago at a thrift sale that is pieced & has a lining. I used it a few times, but decided to maybe cut it up for pillows, etc. Now I know what I'm going to use it for!!!
I was listening to your channel and wow!!! This is exactly what my friend is in need of. I just called her. I recommended she look at how wonderfully you have made this jacket. Thank you.
Amazing video. Thank you. My daughter just asked for a quilted jacket and I honestly did not know where to start!
Absolutely love your beautiful jackets. What a wonderful idea using the sweatshirt! Thank you for all your delightful quilting ideas.
I made one of these years ago with all neutral uneven log cabins and flying geese. It was so much fun! Will have to make another!
Oh, I can hardly say how excited I am to get making a new jacket! This is beautiful. Thank you so much! Love, love, love your designs!
I made this quilted jacket this fall. It still hasn’t gotten cold enough to wear yet. I suggest 2 sizes larger. I had to add side panels. From the bottom of the sleeves all the way to the bottom of the jacket. But it works. No one can tell my alterations. I’m about to make another soon
This is one of the best videos you've ever made! Great job! I love all of your videos and enjoyed meeting you in Paducah Kentucky about seven years ago. You are so inspirational! Thank you for taking the time to share how to make this jacket I look forward to ordering your pattern.
Your excitement joy and enthusiasm are contagious 😀 a quilted jacket has been my dream and your video will really help me get there 😀 thank you xx
I love your personality. 😊 I love this project too!
This is a fun idea! I haven't done one yet, but I will.

Super! It is one of the best detailed tutorial! It's so beautiful and it seems so easy to sew that I want to do it. Thank you, Edyta, so much! 🥰
I’m excited! Now I need to get a sweatshirt and get cutting and stitching! Thanks so very much! 🧵
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! I just got my pattern yesterday and I’m really looking forward to making my first jacket.
Beautiful jackets Edyta and so designer one off's. I love making something different from the norm and as i am never in fashion anyway, why not. Why walk around as if you are rolling off factory floors all the same, when you can make yourself be unique. I bought in Turkey two leather jackets this shape with beautiful leaves embroidered over it in applique. They were both different and it meant that my mum could have something on that wasn't too young looking as normal leather jackets are, but she looked stunning in it. Thank you flower for sharing your stunning pieces of art with us.
Thank you for sharing you tricks and tips with us .I just love the way you explain .Love you .Thanx.❤️❤️
Beautiful jackets! Must make one of those! Thank you for sharing and showing us how to do it! Big hugs from Sweden.
Wow so beautiful and what a clever idea 😍
So glad I found your tutorial! I'm planning a jacket & in my mind I was only cutting the side seams & the underarm sleeve seam but leaving the sleeve attached to the body of my sweatshirt! THANK YOU! Beautiful job on your jacket!!
Genius. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. ❤
It's so much like mine🎉. Beautiful ❤️ love the orange/red jacket.

Edyta, bardzo pięknie pokazałaś jak zrobić patchworkową kurtkę. Dziękuję. Szyję dużo patchworków, a ubrań uszyłam dopiero kilkanaście. Wykorzystam Twoją wiedzę do szycia następnych. Pozdrawiam Cię z Polski.

Love your energy and this video. The passion you have really makes feel excited/motivated to give this a try without being to worried of making mistakes being a complete newbie. Thanks so much!
Beautiful, I'm glad I took the time. Will have to start this jacket. Hope to finish it by October, we have Punkin Capital of the world here in our home Town. I'm thinking I should do one in pumpkins to honor our Pumpkin Growers. Thanks , love the jacket.
I was looking and thinking about making a quilted jacket and your steps look so nice and now I am eager of making some for myself and others. Also I love how you did the binding. I like that there isn't much bulk in the corner.
This is super fabulous! I’m gonna make 2! Two daughters both have commented that I should make them. Thank you!
Many years ago I made a log cabin jacket but gave it away. Seeing yours I want to make another jacket. Will definitely be getting your pattern!
Honestly you have given me incentive to use some blocks I made for this jacket well done!!
Such a fun jacket! Thank you for sharing. I love your enthusiasm! 💖
So pretty! Beautiful job! This will be my new bed jacket & 1 for cuddling up in my comfy chair to read a book! Thanks so much Edyta:)

Love your video Beautiful jackets Thank you for sharing this with us Blessings to Everyone ❤🙏
I think this a winner. Thanks for sharing the sweatshirt idea for a pattern. Putting this on my list of jacket makes!
Definitely making this. I want to try one that has a hoodie and pockets with a zipper. My fav kind of jackets. I hope it turns out as nice as yours.
I love how you explain things
Great video! I'd love to see this done with a hoodie sweatshirt, instead of a crew one for the quilted jacket. Thank you!
Also wondering if anyone has reused the sweatshirt cuffs at the quilt sleeve?
That jacket is beautiful 😍
You look so beautiful in your quilted jackets, I made 3 of these now, I love your inspirations
Love, love, love both jackets! Thanks for the inspiration, Edyta. Can’t wait to make one!
This is such a great idea to use up an old jumper that you no longer wear also... upcycling it!
I just bought the pattern, cant wait to make it
OOH such a fun project! Thanks for sharing! Going to look through my orphan block bin now.
If you turn the sweatshirt inside out so that the fleecy side becomes the batting, it will be warmer and nicer looking inside & therefore eliminating the lining. Nice directions, thanks.
This looks like a fun project!!😊❤ thanks!
Great idea, might have to give it a try, would probably add buttons and loops to keep out the breeze
You're so talented!! Amazing jackets 👏🏼👏🏼❤️
I just love your quilted jacket pattern. Thank you for showing us the new red jacket that you made as well. What was the pattern on the red jacket called? I can’t wait to try one for myself. Thank you for always inspiring me to try something new. 🎉😊
Those are gorgeous. I want to make some for different seasons and Christmas gifts. Thanks so much!😊
Beautiful jackets! Very nice instructions. Thank you.
Super cute, can you do a video for a robe now? I would buy this at a craft show! Thank you so much for sharing your talents.
Do the same thing: Buy a robe; cut it apart in sections, apply your patchwork & quilt it. Then put it back together! 😊
Thank you so much! You have simplified this by explaining the steps. I I’ll be making one.
Love this & plan on making two! One for autumn & one for spring ❤
I love how up beat you are. You make me smile again
