If I want to make a quilt for this jacket what size quilt should I strive for? Would a throw be large enough

I saw this in one of my sewing groups that does upcycling so thought gee I have tons of sheets or duvet covers lets give this a go. Saw on the your video and went went the heck click and watch. I have made well dungarees for children a slightly different pattern but none the less in knit. So who says I can't make some for myself. I loved it no big stress or what I call technical gabbing just straight up here is the fabric and a few hints and suggestions and off you went. I am baffled by the UK sizing as I live in Canada and I wear like a size 4 to 6 which when I see the UK patterns it is like a double digit I want to say I thought the size you choose for yourself was perfect. Yes they should be well comfy and sort of fitted but now I am a tad confused. I find some Medium just very large and then small a tad tight in many ready to wear items. Again depending where they are made or designed. Nonetheless video brilliant, fabric choice wonderful and sorry your nails being blue were fine not distracting at all, blue is the new pink.

I just saw one very similar to this in a shop the other day and it cost a bomb! Very well done. I want to have a go but will make the fronts a bit wider and the sleeves a bit more shaped and longer, then it should help me now they've taken away the Winter Fuel Allowance for people like me. tried this, failed miserably, but I know why. The measurement for the front panel WILL NOT WORK if you have more than a B or maybe C cup, it won't be wide enough. measure with a flexible tape from the middle of your armpit AROUND the breast to the center of the chest, then add the seam allowance. Otherwise, the pieces won't come anywhere close to meeting near the middle. Fortunately, I had an old quilt, so I only lost time and not money. Fortunately, I have enough left to make a few tote bags.

You set the pattern size through adobe and you can choose what layers to print. I just print size I need with markings makes it a lot easier

Could you soak the little squares in hot water them press them with a hot iron to maybe shrink?

i really love the jumpsuit..nice and baggy and cool for if we ever have a summer. i suppose you could put a long sleeve top under it for autumn ...i loved the crochet top too..what pattern is it please..i have to have written instructions these days . im still plodding my way thru my sophie number 2...ive been busy also i did my nieces buffet for her wedding.. i did my own 8 years ago so knew i could ..but i didnt take into account that i am not the same person healthwise so it took a while to do and although i had help i still suffered for 3 days after..today im nearly back to my new normal. i felt useful though something i havent for a very long time...i did a little bit of sewing last week just puttting a new waist elastic on a layered net skirt for my dd . oh and ive been watching bridgerton lol. looking forward to next weeks video. take care xxx

New here, hi! The Nina doesn't have such good instructions. I did a review last year which has a few tips! I love peppermint magazine patterns but have been a bit wary of random Etsy patterns which looks like they might have heavily borrowed from indie ones! Thanks for the round up!I've got the Helens closet Orchard(free) on my list and am just finishing making the pattern scout Joni with our 14 year old (mine want stuff made again now !!) 😂

Either look works for me, and your pattern placement is great. I quite like it without the belt, like a floaty dress, but I do see that it then gives you no shape. The structure of the fabric makes the wide belt quite chunky but maybe tied to the side would look good? Great make

Oh get the £3.44 pattern i blooming love that dress..i have loads of patterns i still need to do but have no enthusiasm for anything just lately. i made the queens gambit pinafore from mood and i love wearing it think its the best one ive made. i did mine in a thick fabric for wearing in winter but if you did that in a light cotton it would be lovely. Thanks for finding all those free or inexpensive patterns. Im finding PDF patterns are getting sooo expensive. Especially when you add in the price of printing them out.

A lovely selection, I look forward to seeing what you make. Like you I love a free pattern, I've converted the Avid Seamstress Drop Sleeve top pattern into a dress by lengthening it. I gave it shaping with fisheye darts in the back (thanks LiftingPinsandNeedles - RUclips) and left it sleeveless but I love it - it's the only think I've ever hacked! I'm hoping to make Tiana's closet top, I've a couple of patterns in mind :) And definitely keep up the ad lib style, makes it more like a chat with a sewing friend

I made a lot of free patterns from the peppermint magazine or fabric store. Unfettered patterns is also a great source of free patterns. You have to be a standard figure to be able to wear them or you make a muslin. After a while you know which problems occur with them and learn to make the changes. I use some non-expensive German pattern site like pattydoo (nowadays you can translate all of it) that also has videos (also in German but I guess you can activate a translator or something like this) and all patterns are 2,99€ (I don’t know how much that is in real money). Expensive - the Barcelona from maven patterns and dress Hemera from Methode Mathilde (a cute French Designer) that also has an English pattern. Both over 15€. Worth every penny. Say hi to the puppy! Came here for sewing inspiration, stayed for the pretty puppy.

Thank you! I'm going to try this. I just ran into a website that sells heirloom quilts turned into jackets. They are gorgeous. I own a couple of heirloom hand crafted quilts and would have a hard time cutting into them, but this is a good way to try out the process.

Love the dress. Know what you mean about The Child Called It (but I was interested enough to read his others and they are a bit more positive) and Iots of people love The Secret History, I did like it but wasn't blown away. I'd suggest reading something you know you'll love at the moment as part of self care - you can always come back to TSH at a later date
