    The fact that this has such low views is a travesty. I have such fond childhood memories of this game! Such a lovely documentary!

    Fantastic video.
    Brilliant idea to go in depth into the development of games that aren't that well documented online. Would love to see more like this.

      @@starfoxlover400 Marcus should carry on the Star Fox legacy, and we could play as him leading his team. How does that ruin the point of Star Fox? Fox McCloud himself is literally carrying on the legacy of his father, James. If we got to play as Marcus someday, that would be insanely cool and bring the story of the franchise full-circle as three generations of McClouds fighting to save the universe. Or we could just retread the Lylat Wars for the fifth time lol.

    With the quirky gameplay and strategy elements, I would have enjoyed trying to get all the endings in this installment if it weren't for the fact most of them felt like either a slap in the face or a gut-punch for anyone that cared about the characters established in the games leading up. No-one escaped with their integrity or dignity intact.
    Now it could be argued that expecting good storytelling from a Star Fox game from the mid-noughties is too much, but if replayability is largely based on that story, you'd think it would have at least had some more thought gone into it than whatever goofy concept tickled Imamura's fancy at the time. Interesting ideas can't always make up for a contrived execution.
    A crying shame, then, that this muddle was how the Star Fox 64 continuity came to a close with so much potential for character, story and gameplay evolution squandered in the name of repeating past glories for ever-diminishing returns years later.
    Less an anniversary than a moritorium for those who actually liked where the series was taking them a decade and a half ago.

    This is great video. Good to see NWR digging deep in a series. I really hope Q-games can make another star fox game. Command was great but it really feels like it was pushing the ds limits. I wonder what could be made on the switch with this style of star fox

    I recently started to play star fox command properly in my 3ds thanks to emulation (R4), because it was so difficult to me to find & buy a cartdrige on this days, and i Honestly started to love that game so much...
    After loving Star Fox Zero because the gyroscope controls... Basically Because i can only Aim Well if the game doesn't force the 2nd analog stick or mouse WASD...
    After loving Star Fox Zero's Fully Gyroscope Aim, i Decide to try Command this year with my fully open mind, and i really love the idea of the Stylus Aim... And it's kinda Curious how the only Nintendo Franchise i could love, Star Fox, is the only one who actually tries to bring unique experiences for people like me who can't aim with standar controls doesn't matter how much i try...
    -------
    And know all that story about Command, makes me get more appretiation and care about what they could do with Star Fox...
    Maybe i had to finish all the routes the soon as i can
    Thanks for the video nwn

      The alternate control schemes though, I just can't see the reason to force the player into using them, offer them sure, but unless there is a good practical reason why convetional controls can't work, let people chose them. D-pad might not work as well as a stick, but with digital controls like a d-pad you can use acceleration ie the longer you hold down the button the more it moves or decelleration to make them feel smoother for the player.
      Star Fox Zero, why was the R-stick not an option to aim? / Why the barrel rolls stuck to the r-stick, did they forget the gamepad has bumpers?

    While I think this game's gameplay style had potential and isn't really the worst in the series, wow it's character story was an epic disaster.
    It's a shame since I'd have loved a good character-heavy emotional story revolving around Fox and Krystal

    Personally I like the idea of a star Fox game taking advantage of the branching level paths and making it actually change the story itself! While I like this game both gameplay and plot wise…it’s honestly a mediocre garbage fire.
    Fun fact, I never got the Fox x Krystal ending with Marcus and the new Star Fox team, which used to anger me as an avid shipper back then lol
    But yeah, I think the concept can work for Star Fox since it involves your actions changing things, something I personally like in games. Star Fox thrives on branching, so given actual polish, I think it could work :)
    Just wish the one time they did this in this particular way it wasn’t in a narrative hellfire.

  • @biggallcaps
    @biggallcaps 2 года назад

    Well that explains it pretty good. You sacrificed ease of gameplay because you wanted to force the use of the technical capabilities of the device and therefore made it more annoying to play. I find that sad really, it was the same problem with Starfox Zero, so if they'd just make a game that controls *NORMALLY* it would become a well loved classic for all time

  • @TheJadeFist
    @TheJadeFist 2 года назад

    That whole thing "Miyamoto wanted Star Fox to be an experimental game series and not be pigeon holed into a type" And that's why we can't have nice things. Why not just accept that what may have been done for reasons of limitations, actually produced a fun style of play. 2d Platformers were like they were mostly because polygons were hard, and people still like those types of games and some are being made even today.
    Star Fox Zero was a "F You customer, I'm Miyomoto and I want experiment with an aiming gimmick that could easily have been mapped to the right stick" ...."Why people no buy these Star Fox games?, Star Fox must just not be worth making, better go copy paste another New Super Mario Bros game, those make money"
    God forbid he lower himself to the level of producing games people want.

    • @TheJadeFist

      @@Austinator0630 Maybe it would have more appeal, if they actually felt like making more games.

    • @Austinator0630

      @@TheJadeFist Let be real here, Nintendo had no idea what they wanted to do with the franchise after 64. Why else do you think Dinosaur Planet became Star Fox Adventures? Ironically, Dylan Cuthbert himself couldn't give the franchise a good direction thanks in part to command's multiple endings.

  • @Wildboyz6913
    @Wildboyz6913 2 года назад +6

    But let’s also not forget it’s the same game that butchered Fox’s personality and have him and the other characters horrible futures. Dylan Cuthbert claimed the next game would start in the middle of Command. Personally, he’s just giving us false hope. But if, God Willing, it’s real, they should make a scene in the game where Fox realizes all those endings which are not canon, Thank God (as well as Krystal turning to Andross’s side because she believed he wasn’t evil or was misunderstood and unappreciated, despite what he did to her in Adventures, like trapping her on Sauria, caused the destruction of her homeworld or using Scales to remove the spellstones and tricking Fox to use all 6 Krazoa spirits to resurrect himself) is all just a bad dream he’s having and decides to got to Krystal’s homeworld to look for clues of what happened. After he solves the mystery, he’s filled with so much remorse he looks for Krystal first and he finds her along with StarWolf and he sees an Anglar try to shoot her so he runs in fro t of her and uses himself as a shield sacrificing himself for Krystal to protect her and to take back his mistake of forcing her off the team. Krystal sees what’s happened, and ditches Star Wolf for good after she sees the visions that Fox has and vows not to let it become real. The two rekindle their relationship, the team is united and the Anglars are defeated. That’s how a franchise should end. Or continue.
