This is by far my favorite Final Fantasy! I loved everything about it - the characters, the story, the world, etc. While it wasn't my first step into the franchise, it nevertheless remains my favorite! It's sad this game gets so little recognition. It may have been different, but that does not make it bad by any means.

I really loved this time cause you could spend a lot of time getting secret GFs and items (Without paying for dlc!!!!) and really just have fun grinding and leveling up your characters. This is definitely my favorite structure for a game.
No It Is Simple!..In Final Fantasy Terms! :P Because of those guys I had great unforgetable moments with my first RPG & FF game ever...FFVIII will always remain my fav...cause of it I started following the Final Fantasy games one by one, even digging up the old ones...getting open up to every world and sink in it, never rejecting any of them for mere limited personal views cause I know it'll only sadden its fans...so, Big Cheers for Those Awesome Peeps

Je ne savais pas qu'ils avaient déjà utilisé le motion capture à partir de celui-ci. Incroyable n'empêche le travail mis dans ce jeu, malheureusement les millions sortent mais on à plus le plaisir d'antan c'est frustrant.
I was a huge ff7 fan and hated this game when it came out. Having played this numerous times now I think it may be the best. If you play it 100% you'll see each disc is completely loaded with content. It gives you the option to have some of the best weapons and magic from the beginning which makes it incredibly easy but you can avoid those to make it a challenge. Gil is kinda pointless tho because they practically shower you with it and the draw system keeps you from having to stock up on anything. All in all quite possibly the best final fantasy ever.

Even though the storyline is a bit weak, I still love this game. VII was the first FF game I played, but for some reason I really loved VIII when it came out, the character designs, the music, the animated cut scenes blew me away. I also loved the pacing of the game an the world that they designed. I actually find Squall and Rinoa to be pretty annoying characters, but because everything else was done so well it didn't even matter. Maybe I'll play the game again and see if I can warm up to their love story :D

Although I agree a bit with +miap that throughout my gameplay Squall and Rinoa hit a few annoying bits throughout the game, but given their backgrounds it is not entirely impossible that they would develop such traits. Especially the part where the two of them are at the ball. I agree that this is what "as you said made them realistic and believable". But overall FFVIII still remains as one of the best FF I have played in the entire series. With the exception of FFX (never did get to play that).
When I heard the French speaker at the beginning, I was like "uh-oh"! My mom is the French speaker in my household, though I can sometimes translate while reading French. FF8 is probably my fave FF game ever, though all the others are fun, too (not FF13's gameplay, though). It's awesome how FF8 had its own version of the Arc de Triomphe. Nobuo said they hadn't used songs with words before, but what about One-Winged Angel from FF7?
reminds me of old times watching game network or m6 in paris on tv, you could get a "soluce" game trick showing how to solvea crash bandicoot or super mario 64 level... good times and they kept saying game cube would be ultra realistic even though we got wind waker... things have gotten so far sibce then... likely there are even android emulators for gamecube ps1 and n64 for the mobile hardware...

How much did the animators charge for that? Nowadays a teenager can animate like that or better without the need to hire real people to map the movement though i bet you the people who animated this still charges a fortune while those teenagers will have a hard time getting a job.
motion capture is expensive even today. and software such as blender did not exist in the way it does today. you needed powerful computers and outside college it was very hard (if at all) to learn 3d art and animation
