PORT ANTONIO, JAMAICA - So the idea of the day was to go to Moore Town - which is a Maroon town, and to find some food. There wasn't too much happening in Moore Town, so we headed down to Port Antonio, and went to the market, at some Jamaican street food in Port Antonio, and then continued on to have a lovely dinner on the waterfront.

Moore Town - Moore Town is one of the Maroon towns in the mountains of Jamaica. Maroons are formerly enslaved African descendents who went into the mountains and forests. I was interested to learn more about the Maroons, their culture, and see if it was possible to find any local food. It was a little quiet, but it still was a good experience to walk around the town a little bit, and Matt, Ras Mokko, and I had a good little walk to the waterfall.
Port Antonio - After visiting the waterfall, we continued back driving to Port Antonio, to the nearest main city on the coast. Ras Mokko directed us first to the outdoor open air market where we sampled some fruits. My favorite was a star apple - a fruit I tried for the first time.
Country Style Restaurant - Port Antonio - We had a quick lunch of some beef stew and rice at a small restaurant on the outskirts of the market. Price - about 600 JMB ($4.35)
We then explored Port Antonio, Jamaica, for a few minutes, and came across a man selling jerk pan pork, a huge and temping grill full. There was no way we could resist. So we got some of his jerk.
Tee's Events & Catering - Then for dinner we headed to a small and friendly restaurant on the coast called Tee’s Events and Catering. The owner was really nice. We ordered some Jamaican steamed fish and escovitch fish, both of which were delicious.
Another great day in Jamaica, Jamaican food, and a fantastic time to hang out with Ras Mokko and Matt from Ras Kitchen.

Yes, and he is able to do that via very good contacts and without fear of being ripped off by so-called 'Tour Guides'. The sad fact of things is the very high % of tourists to Jamaica who will never see enough of the 'real' country. Every visitor should have the opportunity to experience what we see in Mark's vid.

Actually we shouldn't be excited that tourists is visiting those towns we should try to make sure they stay exactly as they are pristine natural tourism only destroy the natural culture tranquility of places and people change them from what they originally were most Jamaicans don't benefit from tourism. a tourism economy is a beggar economy a good economy is a production economy not a service based economy because you're always at the mercy of foreign influence and dictates soon as you don't do what they tell you to do they will just starve you to death by telling tourists not to visit it never works out in your favor in the long run only generate prostitution and lots of negative things like that most of the people giving thumbs up on this comment don't understand anything about economics or culture I am not referring to Mark giving the place exposure I'm grateful for that showing the real Jamaica I've been watching him for a very very long time he is a great guy the same area that he was @ in sent Thomas is my abode stomping grounds absolutely the most wonderful place one of the best place in Jamaica to ever live so I'm not referring to the fact that he give Jamaica good exposure at least we could keep the tourism in those few designated spots that keep most of the corruption in those areas so I don't want to be misunderstood about what I'm saying Mark and others like him showing people the real Jamaica not the synthetic Fairy Tail Jamaica they put on TV I'm sure lots of sheeple will jump on my comment thinking and saying something bad about Jamaica but i no most of them don't even know the real Jamaica are even the real culture of Jamaica matchless the history of Jamaica so great video I hope you come again you and your 👪 ☺☺wonderful great video I love all the videos you did on the stanz Pakistan ozbekiston Turkmenistan Iran I love those videos keep up the great work

The media have much to answer for, as does the Jamaican Tourist Board who I think could do more to promote our most beautiful island. The good news though is - prior to COVID-19 - tourism numbers were up by some considerable numbers so that bodes well for the future and I really hope to see the trend continuing once life returns to some normality

Been watching Mark for years now, these videos in Jamaica seem different from the others, he's always excited and enjoys where he goes and what he eats, but these Jamaican ones seem different, he seems even happier and more excited than usual as if he reached the absolute pinnacle plateau of all travels, spiritual in some way. Great to see him so happy there. Jamaica is truly an amazing country.

Not that small actually, at least relative to other islands around the area, plus there’s the added fact that with most map cartography the closer you get to the equator the smaller everything gets.... for instance Africa is massive in reality.

Great video Mark! There is such lovely food to be had in our beautiful island Jamaica. By the seaside at 23:13, Moko was trying to explain that you can use the shrimp to make a dish called 'run down', which is a fish stew made with coconut milk and fresh herbs and spices. The coconut is boiled until it turns into a curd. It's delicious! I've never had it with shrimp though. Anyway, keep up the good work!
