Mark has had rourou before in Trinidad 🇹🇹. However we know it as callaloo, and we use ONLY the youngest taro leaves that sprout from the middle of the stalk for the same reason Mark mentioned (use of any other taro leaves will scratch your throat and gullet). Trinidad has exactly the same colonial history as Fiji especially with the indentured labourers so it is no surprise many of the dishes look familiar, even the preparation is mostly the same.
Most of the vegetables and fruits u see in the market are mostly organic Fiji's seafood is fresher then most you'll ever try in your life Milk is grass-fed Beef is grass-fed Water Fiji water the purest in the world Fijians are simple humble people Who don't care too much about material things. Some of the happiest peaceful content people in the world. MW if we knew you were coming the whole of Fiji would have wanted you as a guest in their homes. Please visit again.
I love this episode, A, because Mark genuinely gets into these new food experiences, as always I suppose, and B, there is plenty of content for vegetarians to appreciate, like the chestnut, and the sort-of caramel or dulce de leche type preparation with coconut and sugar... also the octopus ceviche-like dish in the beginning had me excited too, and I am REALLY not down with eating animals, but seemed sensational 🙌💚 thank you Mark for being STOKED, and sometimes dancing😂🙏
When I tell you I jumped up so fast to show my husband you were in Fiji! 😅 My parents are from Fiji and I'm going for the first time this year. So much of the foods you had are comfort foods to me and made me so happy. Totally adding these places to my need to visit list. I wish there was a way to visit the villages to try that version of Bakalolo. I've had a variation without the coconut caramel.
Mark, my compliments. This was a fascinating episode. I've never seen food like this before and I believe you may be the first or among the first to showcase the cuisine of Fiji.
Oh yeah, give it up to Mark. Walking in a market greeting everyone with a smile and looking towards the food. The guy is amazing.. hope you're having a wonderful day 😅

Yeeeaahhh Push Tailevu! (Province) is getting famous Worldwide. My Mum was born in Nakelo!

Doesn't matter where he travels he always shows much love and respect towards the people and the food of different cultures good man.
It was a real pride to see you visit our beautiful island, I left Fiji for financial prospects, but visit almost every year, and I've been to few places around the world, but I haven't encountered people as friendly and happy as my people the Fijians, God bless Fiji!

One of my favourite episodes. I went to Fiji years ago but did not eat some of things Mark found and I hope you have more episodes in Fiji, one of my favourite places as the people are so genuinely nice as you can see.
Mark is the best travel presenter , for me better than those taravel chefs in the UK..
It is solely about the food and people who make it no trying to cook himself.
Wow we get to go to Fiji 🇫🇯 didn't know how many dishes they use with coconut milk. Thanks Mark Weins for another Spectacular Travel 👍🏽
Hands squeezing fresh coconut milk is both insane and amazing to watch! Love this video.
Finally someone goes to Fiji. It’s about time!
This entire Fiji trip has my heart singing. You can see the love in the people, let alone the food! Wow!
what a huge market full of fresh fruits and one of a kind varities of veggies. ...also very clean..it's so amazing to watch this video coverage in Fiji.....one of the best island destinations to go to in the world ❣full of diversity, excitement and awesome dishes.
Not the most exciting place on a Saturday morning as kids, being dragged along to carry stuff that Mum bought.
We just wanted to play.
Very true 😂😂
One of my favorite places to go and visit on my wish list loving the food and the culture 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Welcome to FIJI, the Way the World should be!
Welcome bro ❤
Amazing Mark! As a Malaysian, never I seen before coconut products is being used in all dishes and they look so delicious!!! thank you for tasting the foods for us Mark. This is the most awesome good vibes channel in RUclips! you makes me wants to travel again for food.
The legendary Mark finally visiting, seeing and tasting paradise💯🙏👍
it's so amazing how clean and organized the market is. Love it! one of my dad's favorite countries he visited when he was as a sailor/seaman
Most of the vegetables and fruits u see in the market are mostly organic
Fiji's seafood is fresher then most you'll ever try in your life
Milk is grass-fed
Beef is grass-fed
Water Fiji water the purest in the world
Fijians are simple humble people
Who don't care too much about material things.
Some of the happiest peaceful content people in the world.
MW if we knew you were coming the whole of Fiji would have wanted you as a guest in their homes.
Please visit again.
Well said 👏
🙌🙌
Wow, what an amazing, beautiful country! I want to go there!! Wow❤
If ask anybody in Fiji where you can get vakalolo. They'll be more than happy to make it for you or show you where to get it. 🙂👍
Its your home. Bless you Ronika
Welcome ❤
Mark this tour of Fiji was definitely in my top 5 favorite videos of yours. Great job.
Mark, my compliments. This was a fascinating episode. I've never seen food like this before and I believe you may be the first or among the first to showcase the cuisine of Fiji.
I can't believe how people invented that desert. Wow Yammy 😍
Wow, all of that produce at the market looked beautiful. It reminds me of the markets in Trinidad. But different at the same time of course.
It's so lovely to see some happy faces ☺ and clean food and environments. Absolutely beautiful place 😍
Oh yeah, give it up to Mark. Walking in a market greeting everyone with a smile and looking towards the food. The guy is amazing.. hope you're having a wonderful day 😅
Sarah is so beautiful. Her smile WOW! Everyone so nice and friendly. Love this!
Thank you so much Mark Wiens for visiting Fiji. I have always wondered if you would visit Fiji, you finally made it, forever greatful
Rourou looks like green slop, but it is fantastic tasting especially made with salt and coconut cream… so rich and delicious. I actually crave it sometimes like comfort food.
It's beautiful alright. I had the pleasure of living in Fiji for 13 years and this is one dish I miss the most ❤
Last on my list, as a local.
Prefer palusami between the two.
@@YumboHD Bula vinaka Yumbo, is that wrapped in the taro leaves Yumbo or layered. I’ll definitely try that if I can ever find taro leaves where I am.
Samoan origins, which we include with lovo.
Layered.
My favorite is anything will taro leaves, or boil taro leaves, mai❤
Seeing lots of vibrant colors, fresh seafood and beautiful landscape... Already excited for as many episodes as we can get in this place!!
Thank you for putting Fiji on the map! Most beautiful place on earth.
Everything that is wrapped in fresh leaves looks sooo good
Fiji food looks delicious too. I’m hungry now .
Bula Mark. Indeed Fiji has some of the tastiest food in the Pacific. Love the traditional cuisine there. Your host Andy is awesome.
Thank you Mark for being a Down to Earth HUMAN-BEING. Love you videos ever since I started watching them.🔥🤝
Thank you Mark for visit my home country Fiji 🇫🇯. Everyone was so excited to learn you were here and I couldn’t wait to watch your YT episode on your travel to Fiji. Yes we love our coconut and the delicacies you tried are what brings us back home…thank you for your visit and we hope tk see you again. Moce mada
Been drinking FiJi water but this is my 1st time seeing this country, thank you for this video 👍👏👏
Fiji water is from the wesatern side of Fiji, dry and hot side, some call it burning west. This video is taken on another side of the island. That makes Fiji Water Unique. An aquifer in the hot west.
As a local, prefer the tap water.
Well water here❤😂
I've been watching Mark Wiens videos for over 5 years now. Such a treat for someone like me to see him come to my home country. Vinaka vakalevu.
Amazing video! Fiji is for sure on my top 10 of places to visit. Beautiful fruits, Foods and people!
Sensational Mark, heading to Fiji in September and I was looking for a food day tour…..but the family and I will explore the public restaurants and markets you went to 👍🤓 Thank you
FIJI! More beautiful people, places, and food. Kudos to you, Mark! Thanks for including us on another glorious adventure. Keep 'em coming, brother!!! 😁🙏🤙
Thanks for another great video Mark. As a Polynesian I really enjoyed this one. Made me so hungry..please visit Samoa if you get the chance. We have some amazing food traditions as well. You will love our version of the lavu lavu..we call it an Umu..best pork you will ever try!!!
Thanks for showcasing Fiji, I appreciate you for sharing our culture.
So similar to the Caribbean wow. Beautiful 🤩
Same climate and atmosphere pretty much despite different location
I was just saying the same. 😂. Even the mannerisms of the people too.
Vinaka Mark! Thank you for visiting and sampling our beautiful Fijian cuisine.
Hi Mark and Family
Thank you for taking me to Fiji sharing the food and their culture.
Food is so amazing, like in Philippines we love cassava, food cooked with coconut milk, taro and taro leaves that cooked in coconut milk we called it Laing..👍
I have been to Fiji two times and each experience was unique and unforgettable. Watching this made me regret not visiting Nausori. Initially I wasn't aware the Suva Airport was actually Nausori Airport. Hope travel brochures change that because Nausori definitely looks like a place a lot of us visitors would love to make a stop at.
Anna was cute. She was very delighted that you liked her cooking. Food all over the world has many similarities. I think it proves that we're all connected to the same creator. 😁
Thanks bro ❤from Fiji
Thank you for visiting Fiji, never thought this visit would ever eventuate but it did and there's just so much to showcase in an episode. Thank you for travelling to Fiji highlighting a few of our much loved food. Love your humility and appreciation for our food. Vinaka Vakalevu!
