- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view from Bari Centrale to Taranto in 4K/60 frames per second.
The Bari-Taranto railway is an Italian 104-kilometre (65-mile) long railway line, that connects Bari with Gioia del Colle and Taranto, a double track line and electrified at 3000 V DC. The line was opened in two stages between 1865 and 1868. On 1 June 1865 the section from Bari to Gioia del Colle opened; the line was further extended on 15 September 1868 to Taranto.
Work has been carried out to upgrade and double the line since 1994. The first section opened on 31 May 1994 between Acquaviva delle Fonti and Bitetto. On 14 September 1997 the double track between Gioia del Colle and Palagianello opened. The line was rerouted which saw the closure of stations in Caratini, San Basilio and in Castellaneta town centre. On 20 December 2004 the line was doubled between Acquaviva delle Fonti and Gioia del Colle, and on 27 May 2007 between Palagiano and Bellavista. On 22 June 2008 the line was doubled between Grottalupara and Palagiano, which included a new alignment avoiding the centre of Palagianello and the opening of a new station. On 31 May 2009 the line was doubled between Bari Centrale and Bari Sant'Andrea, which led to the closure of Bari Policlinico station. The southern section of the line was also doubled in 2010. The final section, between Modugno and Bitetto will be realigned and doubled in 2014.

La stazione di Massafra prima del raddoppio era al km 97+090 adesso al km 90+100. In pratica si è accorciata di 7 km. Inoltre, nella tratta Taranto-Gioia del Colle è stata soppressa la stazione di Castellaneta Campagna, San Basilio e Coratini.

Beautiful cab ride from Puglia, was there by car for a 10-days holiday in 2018, enjoyed it a lot! The railway climbs to almost 400m altitude from the sea level, before descending back to sea level in Taranto, offering nice views around. Thanks for sharing, greetings from a traveller from Germany!

Ricordo la vecchia linea a binario singolo, era una pena, soprattutto la doppia ansa di Castellaneta, che limitava, sagoma, carico e velocità !! ora è una linea moderna. Quello che oggi è stato superato come pendenza, con le 2 gallerie e il viadotto dopo Castellaneta, prima era un percorso tortuoso in salita e poi discesa al limite !!

Ottimo video, peccato che una linea dalla planimetria così favorevole, preveda una velocità massima di soli 150 Km/h. Con il dovuto attrezzaggio tecnologico, potrebbe tranquillamente avere velocità max anche superiori ai 200 Km/h. Il treno in oggetto, inoltre, effettua lunghissime soste, non giustificate, in ogni stazione, forse temono che potrebbe fare una seria concorrenza alle autolinee?

Questo video lo aspettavo da tempo. A mio parere andrebbe rifatto in pieno giorno per poter apprezzare anche ciò che circonda la linea ferroviaria e il paesaggio e poter osservare le varie stazioni.

Meravigliosi! Stupendi! Cab ride "PERFETTO" (fotografia, riprese, sound, luce, orario, documentazione, note) come non se ne trovano tantissimi. Conoscevo la vecchia linea ma questa è tutta un altra storia. Moderna, con lavori ingegneristici importanti forse tecnicamente ancora poco veloce, è la linea che unisce i due mari, Ionio con Adriatico. Il versante ionico mi è sembrato più lento (chissà 🤔). Da Taranto avete l'imbarazzo della scelta 😉. Ottimo 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Piccola precisazione. Poco prima di entrare a Taranto, la linea che costeggia a sinistra è la linea dell'ormai ex deposito locomotori.

In effetti quella linea permetterebbe anche i 180 km/h se si procedesse all'eliminazione di qualche passaggio a livello e all'aggiornamento della segnaletica. Preciso che sto riportando considerazioni di persone competenti
Non è possibile che la velocità massima dipenda dal tipo di materiale, e non dalla linea? Lo domando perchè, in molti tratti, mi pare che la linea possa tranquillamente "sopportare" velocità maggiori

Video stupendo che spiega nei minimi dettagli la linea Bari Centrale - Taranto. Unico errore che ho riscontrato: al minuto 40:36 il locomotore accoppiato in coda alle carrozze con pianale ribassato guidate da un pianale ribassato semipilota è una E464 invece di una E403. In Puglia tutti pianali ribassati utilizzati per servizio regionale sono solo accoppiati con E464.
Apparte questa svista, ottimo video, davvero! Aspetto prossimamente la tratta Foggia - Bari Centrale! (Ci sono vari treni tra cui scegliere; lo so da studente universitario pendolare che viaggia su questa linea 8 volte a settimana, 4 per andare e 4 per tornare).

Ottima anche la linea, se pur con alcuni appunti: 1) dopo Gioia del Colle cosa è quel tipo di LA ? 2) i binari troncati ed abbandonati sono la "targa" di FS ! 3) a cosa serve la doppia palificazione, dopo Massafra, per "tenere" la sola fibra ottica ? Nel testo della descrizione la lunghezza della linea non è 104 km ma 114 km.
Ottima qualità del video e dove in meno di 5 minuti si passa dal buio al chiaro.
Linea molto moderna, dopo decenni di ricostruzione, insieme a stazioni tutto sommato moderne ma desolatamente vuote con pochissimi viaggiatori. Purtroppo la rete snella ha tagliato anche qui molti scambi e binari di scalo.

Da notare le stazioni ristrutturate della provincia di Bari mentre sulla tratta taranto brindisi abbiamo stazioni antiche o chiuse. Plauso alle ferrovie e regione. 👏
Hanno fatto anche stazioni inutili come quella di Sannicandro che e' lontanissima dal paese o quella di Grottalupara dove il paese non c'e' proprio.
E vogliamo parlare degli incomprensibili marciapiedi della Madonna della Grotta?
Tra l'altro il tracciato e' parecchio tortuoso per abbracciare i comuni di Grumo, Bitetto, Modugno e Acquavia e piu' giu' quelli di Castellaneta, Palagianello e Palagiano, la cui stazione e' anche in questo caso lontanissima dal paese.
