Great video. In La Spezia you were received on track 4 because of you had to give right to pass to Roma-Torino train executed with ETR485 class. Normally in La Spezia long distance train to Genova are received in track 2. The line between La Spezia and Genova was very difficult to build. It happened near 1880 but only in 1932 the double track was opened between Framura and Riva Trigoso, from Riomaggiore to Framura only in 1970
Not just interesting for railway enthusiasts, but an absolutely stunning scenic route. It’s the one bit of the northern coastline of Italy that I haven’t visited, and this makes me want to go (not in the height of summer though!).
I have just an observation. Ther train does only a few stops and so I think it's an intercity and not a regional train, so the locomotive should be an E402B like in the thumbnail of the video and not an E464 like in the photo in the preview. Other than that, the video is perfect and so thank you again! (sorry I'm a bit picky LOL)
OK, from the stops and the running time, the train is IC 794 Reggio Calabria -Turin. I did not identify the locomotive. It can be, most likely, one E402. I do not know whether this train is operated with two e464 locomotives, one in the front, the other in the back. The video is gorgeous, like the whole RIAL RELAXATION channel.
For some years now, E464s have also been used to pull night trains, as they were built in around 700 units and are not needed for regional services, where EMU trainsets are increasingly being used.
Enjoy the whole journey and being travelling along part of the coast was something new and so many tunnels that reminds me as a child travelling from Paris to Roma.
The problem with editing tunnels out is that if the editing is too severe then the essence of the journey is lost and can then only be regarded as a rail journey edited highlights. For dedicated train journey buffs (slang - Anoraks) the enjoyment of the journey is lost. Far better to leave the entire tunnels in place and allow the viewer to decide (and edit himself) how much of the journey he wants to see, full or part.
