Can I just say thank you ! So many mommy’s just use all in ones with newborns. I tried them with my son and he would out pee them. This time around I wanted to prefold and flats , most newborn cloth RUclips videos are all in ones :( This video is so helpful thank you
Exactly!! We always outgrow the absorbencies of the all in ones way before we outgrow the size! I feel like people get intimidates by the prefolds but they are SO easy! Thanks for watching 💕
Jess is blessed has an hour long video on different folds you should check it out its kinda fun to try all of them lol 💜 I was so scared of flats I never knew I personally could use them I thought they were going to be messy and sooooo much work.
I definitely will! I love jess is blessed ❤️ ya my first little guy I pretty much only used pockets and inserts because everything else freaked me out haha!!
I have 12 newborn prefolds and I do have many boosters but I’m not sure what should I get to have a total of 24 (12 prefolds size newborn or 12 size small)? What do you recommend? It’s going to be my first time cloth-diapering a newborn and my babies tend to be heavy wetters! Thank you so much for this video!
If your babies tend to be heavy with the small! They will be a smidge bulkier for the first couple of weeks but you'll be glad to have them! You can always use the newborn size during the day so it doesn't look as bulky and save small for night changes. Hope this helps 💜 Marley
Thank you for posting Marley. . I have a few questions please. How long does your lo stay in the prefold for before changing? Is it right that it’s soaked through and do you use any boosters and/or liners?
For the newborn stage, I typically always changed every 2 hours on the dot. As they get older, I will let them go a bit longer if I'm able. These cotton prefolds are incredibly absorbent. I've never had one soak through at the newborn stage. However, if you find that you have a heavy wetter, you can lay a booster in the cover before putting it on (I recommend hemp boosters!). Or you could also find that it's time to move up a prefolds size and that alone solves your problem! If you ever have any other questions, comment back or you can email me as well 😊 happy to help, good luck!! 💜
Hey there! So if you're starting cloth diapering from the newborn stage, I would recommend 24 prefolds and 8 covers. You can get away with about 20 prefolds and 6 covers but I would recommend getting a few extras if you aren't going to be washing every other day. Let me know if you have any more questions, always here to help 😊 and good luck 💕
Also, I would be careful not to go over 3 days without washing. I've done it on accident before and had to do a little rehab on my diapers 😅 not fun lol!!
Would it be possible to use a size medium and fold it to fit a newborn? I have a huge stash of pocket diapers that probably wont fit til later but I’m planning to stuff them with prefolds and hemp inserts. Since I am buying medium prefolds anyways, I’m wondering if they would work for a newborn.
Probably not for most average babies. If you had a very large newborn, then maybe but they would still be incredibly bulky. And even then, you'd probably have a really hard time adjusting to get a proper fit. Newborn fit is best but small ones do work and lasted us until potty training (I have small toddlers). I also have a video on a minimalist cloth diaper stash that shows you can get away with very little. But I would recommend getting at least 12 small prefolds
Thank you, your video helped so much, your anwers in the comment section, too! German mom who loves cloth diapering but haven't used cloth on a newborn before. The products available here in Germany are slighty different (no hemp flats!), so prefolds are my favorite!
Your intro is really REALLY loud compared to the rest of the video. I was startled and had to turn my volume down, and then I couldn't hear you at all lol. Just letting you know :)
Oh my gosh 😂 I'm so sorry!! Thank you for telling me! I'm going to have to get that adjusted..for some reason, it isn't that loud on mine! Thank you!!!!

I love rolling up the sides. Bullet proof against soupy poops. 💪. And congrats!! ❤️
Absolutely!! Especially if I can get a good fit on the squirmy little guy 😂
I'm excited to use newborn prefolds with my baby expected next month! 💜 Heidi
Oh it's getting close!! Enjoy those sweet newborn snuggles 💕
@@marleymommie7567 Thanks! 💕 I know it goes by too fast!

I personally Love prefolds and flats!!
Me too!! I just started dabbling in flats with my last baby so I'm excited to use them more this go around...now that they aren't as intimidating 😂

@@marleymommie7567 Thank you so much!! And wow, small ones until potty trained that sounds awesome.
@@Ana-jacomini yes! Did have to use boosters for long trips/overnights though! I should have added that!
