    Very helpful video! Thank you! I was just wondering as you mentioned natural materials being gentle on baby's skin, the fleece liners are made of polyester, would you still recommend them for newborns?

    • @aboderie
      @aboderie  Год назад

      It depends on what you're looking for! Personally I don't use fleece liners for newborns for the reason you give, but some people like the fact that fleece has a stay-dry effect.

  • @LaConfessional
    @LaConfessional 3 года назад

    For inserts/boosters, what is the recommended material and number of pieces to stock up? I currently have a mix of hemp, bamboo, bamboo cotton, and mix of bamboo + microfibre with some diaper covers. Is Elf Diaper's bamboo inserts good in absorbency? As I am planning to move into pocket diapers too.

    • @aboderie
      @aboderie  3 года назад

      It's difficult to say without knowing which inserts you have, but you'll need enough for about 20 nappies, so if they're thin you might need two per nappy whereas a thicker one you might get away with one. If it's your first time using cloth it's a good idea to have a mix of materials because it will help you work out which you like best. I don't know Elf Diapers so I'm not sure about those, sorry!

      @LaConfessional 3 года назад

      @@aboderie thanks! I guess I will be using prefolds and flats mostly (since that's what my mum prefers) and use the inserts as boosters! Me and my mum really like your videos, it's so helpful!!

    Very confused whether I should go for prefold or pocket diapers?
    Prefolds seem more practical but I wonder why pockets are more popular?

  • @christinat5169
    @christinat5169 11 месяцев назад

    What’s the recommendation for a newborn little boy? Angel fold or pad fold? So far we’ve only trialled pocket nappies and all in ones. No leaks yet. But also have a couple of covers, and a fair few Prefolds so these are next to try, and wanted to see what others have found that is best for containment

    • @aboderie
      @aboderie  11 месяцев назад

      Angel fold will give you better containment for poos!

    I don't know if you'll see this, but pregnant with my first and a little overwhelmed at all the options !! 😅 I know that Nappy Gurus do bundles (only one type of nappy) which appeals to me, but seems so many mums (on youtube) have multiple options of types of nappies they use. Is it worth getting some pocket nappies and some pre folds? or will I be alright just going for one type or the other??

    • @aboderie
      @aboderie  9 месяцев назад

      When you're starting out I'd always recommend getting a range of different kinds to try, either by renting them through a nappy library, buying secondhand or just buying one of each kind. You don't know what you'll like until you try them! If you'd like more guidance I have an ebook that walks you through the whole process so you don't feel overwhelmed! ❤ aboderie.co.uk/shop/10-steps-to-cloth-nappy-success

    Are prefolds included in the modern cloth diaper lingo? And how often do you need to change the covers?

    • @aboderie
      @aboderie  Год назад

      Sorry I don’t think I understand! Do you mean would prefolds be considered modern cloth diapers? They probably wouldn’t be, because I’m pretty sure they’ve been around in some form for decades! The cover will need to be changed about every 2-3 hours for a newborn or up to 4 hours for an older baby 😊 but if they’re not dirty you can just wipe down and reuse without fully washing

    I am looking at thirsties hemp pre folds and since hemp absorbs slower how would you stack the pre folds? Is hemp not best for a pre fold and better for pocket diapers?

    • @aboderie
      @aboderie  3 года назад +1

      Even though hemp can be slow, it's almost always blended with cotton so a hemp prefold on it's own in a pocket or a wrap would work fine ☺

  • @ishka3405
    @ishka3405 Год назад

    Does this variation keep it leak proof for you?

    • @aboderie
      @aboderie  Год назад

      Whether or not a nappy is leak proof depends a lot on whether you've got enough absorbency. I find they work fine as I've shown, but heavy wetting babies might need more absorbency

    • @aboderie
      @aboderie  3 года назад +3

      For a newborn, probably 8-10, and for an older baby a few less, probably 6-8. It does depend how much they poo though! More frequent pooers would need more 😅
