    I did flats and covers and I got the walmart flower sac towels $7.44 for a dozen and I got 3 packs they are actually cheaper than normal flats and cheaper than prefolds. I've found they work amazing for me it's like 50/50 for people to like or not like them. My covers are the happy flute ones I paid 5$ for them and I got 6 of them. I spent like around 60$ for my whole stash. Cloth diapers are so so amazing. I love them.

      @@marleymommie7567 my mom got me 8 of them for my newborn stash they are so so so tiny and cute.
      Amazon has a very nice amount of them but they are renamed "sig" something idk how to say it or spell it lol 🤣 but you can find more prints on the happy flute website.
      I want to get some of the nicki covers and rumparooz covers I love them they both just feel so much better than the happy flute ones they have a silky feel to them.

    In wish this would have worked for us. My newborn (currently 7 weeks) goes through 15 changes easily in 24 hrs. On occasion we hit 20. I couldn’t keep up with the laundry.
    I decided to add on 2 dozen flats. I find them a lot easier. Yes it takes time to fold them, but in the long run you don’t need to buy different sizes and can just add boosters if needed. for us they will wash easier and dry faster. Plus when we leave our land life and return to boat life with remote sailing I imagine they will wash and dry more easily and faster by hand. Which is a priority for us.

    With my first baby I was super minimal. I somehow made 4 thirsties size 1 duo wrap covers & a couple dozen prefolds work for the first few months. I also had a sprayer & cloth wipes and nothing for cloth diapering came out of our pockets since we had gift money. I ended up hating prefolds so when my son outgrew the small size we had I switched to a pretty big stash of gmd flats, receiving blankets from my baby shower & about 12 one size covers. I also had about 6 pocket diapers (most were freebies) which I used for night stuffed with doubled up flats. I'm pregnant with #2 buying more covers & pockets this time, mainly for fun because I think I'm only having the 2 kids.

      Wow girl! You definitely made the minimalism work! I completely understand grabbing a few extras for the last baby. I thought this was my last so we got some splurge "cutesy" diapers that we didn't really "need" but we use and love!

    I got the 3 pack of Biubee cheap wet bags ($11) from Amazon 4 years ago and used them for my cat's incontinence diapers and my cloth pads and family cloth. I would say that I've washed them about once a week for the last 4 years. Just a week ago, my husband was carrying down laundry for me and said that the outside of one of them felt damp. I would say that $3.50 for 4 years of use is a pretty good investment. I also recently got the 3 pack of Damero wet bags from someone off my registry for my first baby and I loved how thick and well made those seemed. $13 for that 3 pack seemed like such a good deal that I went ahead and added another 3 pack to my registry.

    Hi Marley! I'm new to your channel. I cloth diapered our first until we started potty training. I'm glad you mentioned hemp boosters. My son was such a heavy wetter at week one that I eventually went to a prefolds and hemp for all changes. I had no hemp at first though, so that was a huge transition. :-)

    Thanks for this video!! I'm due in November and want to start at NB stage. Question: how many days will 7 covers last? I could ideally wash every 3 days. I have 4 of the thirsties duo wraps on my registry, 8 AIO, and considering 10 pockets. Should I add more covers to ensure I make it to the 3rd day?

    • @marleymommie7567
      @marleymommie7567  4 года назад +3

      I'm so glad you found my channel!!
      So 6-8 covers depending on baby will last 2-2.5 days. I would be careful washing every 3 days, sometimes if diapers sit for too long they can start to mold, develop really bad odors, etc. But as long as you're diligent and have a great wash routine, you should be good. If possible, I would consider adding a few more covers as newborns tend to poop a ton and you can't always reuse the covers. But you could always start with what you have and if it is not enough, just wash a day more frequently until you get a few more covers. I hope that all made sense!! Good luck and if you have any more questions I'm happy to help!

      @marleymommie7567  4 года назад +3

      Yes pockets are also a great choice! 💕☺️ Just not quite as minimal or affordable. If the the wetness bothers baby, use some fleece liners, they will create the same stay dry effect of a pocket and keep baby's bum comfortable 😁

    very informative video.... roughly how many times do you change at night with prefolds for a newborn? have you used liners

    • @marleymommie7567
      @marleymommie7567  3 года назад +2

      My babies were changed every 2-3 hours at the newborn stage at night. Honestly, could have made it longer but they would get up to eat so we would change too. If you're exclusively breastfeeding, you won't need liners because you don't need to spray off the 💩. I've tried disposable liners with newborn just to make it more clean, it wasn't very affective because their poop is so runny that it ends up all over the liner and in the sides. BUT stay dry liners are great for newborns so they feel nice and dry so I'd recommend getting some fleece ones and skip on the disposable liners! Hope this helps!!

    • @marleymommie7567
      @marleymommie7567  3 года назад

      Hey there!! I'm so glad you found my channel! They will fit up to about 10 lbs depending on the shape of baby. So roughly 6 weeks depending on baby's weight and shape. We actually used them longer than this just not snappied on. I used a padfold/trifold and layed them in covers and also use them as boosters later on in cloth diapering for nighttime. So overall, a really versatile buy! And you can also use as spit cloths when baby outgrows them!

    Have you experienced prefolds “staying wet”? I’ve heard they don’t keep baby dry

    • @marleymommie7567
      @marleymommie7567  3 года назад +3

      Absolutely! Now that doesn't seem to bother my newborn but if it's a problem, I suggest stay dry liners. You can buy premade ones but I just get a cheap fleece blanket from Walmart or the dollar store and cut them myself. The fleece material will wick the moisture from baby's skin and leave them feeling dry. Once you cut them to size, just place on top of your prefold after you start your fold and ta-da!! ☺️ Thank you for asking that! I should have mentioned it. If you have any other questions, always feel free to email (email in description) and I will respond as in depth as I can!

    • @marleymommie7567

      Hook and loop: simple to use for dad's/grandma's/etc; more customization; but can wear out quickly (not bad on newborn diapers since not long wear time). Snap: last longer; still relatively easy to use, just different than disposables; last longer; but may be a bit confusing for anyone else. Personally, I liked a mix! (My newborn stash was about 60% snaps/ 40% H&L). Hope this helps!
