My oldest is 50 , I had cloth diapers for all my children, I remember it well. Hanging diapers on a clothesline to dry and bleach in the sun. Sitting and folding piles . One way for girls and one way for boys. The rubber pants were the worse though.
Hi Lisa! I’m fairly new to your channel and so far what I’ve come to learn about you is very impressive. I really give you a lot of credit. You have 5 children, a husband, a well kept home, you’re writing a book, do RUclips, you sew, make natural foods, and use cloth diapers, of which you make part of...WOW!! Lol, and you never look stressed out : ). You should be very proud of yourself. You’re a rare breed, great job on all you do!! 😉👍🏻
I'm pregnant with my 5th. I didn't discover cloth until my last baby but i became discouraged after about 8 months (lost my snappis, grandma passed, got difficult in public, my other 3 kids are 7, 6, and 5 blah blah) but this gave me some confidence to try again with new baby 💕
I cloth diapered (1985) and we still used pins. I bought these thick diapers that you folded differently for boys or girls. The best little pants to put over them came from Sears, they were nylon I think and not hot and plastic like the waterproof pants that were common. Then we rinsed (and by 'we' I mean I, lol) and put them in a bucket filled with Dreft and water ~ there they were until enough to do a load. One hot wash (as I recall) and 2 rinses. There was something satisfying about folding all those clean diapers. We did have disposables but they were really expensive and kind of bulky so I went this route for quite a while. Cloth diaper technology has come a long way since then ! These new diapers look much improved :)
I’ve watched this video probably 10 times to make sure I understands cloth diapering before our first baby comes 😁 I’ve got my covers, prefolds, and just ordered some fabric to make the extra absorbent layers!
I was drawn to your channel during the early days of my pregnancy with your minimalist baby essentials video. I eventually got to this video and me and my husband made the decision to cloth because of you. Our little one is now 8 wks old and we are going strong. We had econobum newborn diaper covers but now that we are out of newborn stage we are all about thirsties duo wraps with gmd unbleached prefolds. I'm so happy we made this decision.
This video is the best 🙏🏼🙏🏼! I bought a disastrous sio system for my firstborn and didn’t think I’d have the courage to try again with my second. This video helped me out a ton! I’ve ordered the flip covers and a bunch of prefolds 🥳🥳
Oh my goodness this was just so interesting!! I'm a nana now to my 2-year-old granddaughter- no cloth diapers here, lol! But, I just had to watch this as it brought me back to 1975 when my little sis was born! She's 10 years younger than me and 14 years younger than our oldest sister, and although Pampers were just coming onto the market, my mom chose to use cloth for economical reasons. Oh, how my older sister and I fought over changing and emptying those poop diapers in the toilet, lol!! And, rubber pants to stop leaks, and getting poked by safety pins! It's great to see the advancements in the cloth-diaper genre. Thanks for sharing and bring back some fun memories too!
Hey Lisa, I really admire how resourceful you are. When you were talking about making the liner, I was thinking that itself could be an interesting video: Items I’ve made for my Babies. I also love what you wear so seeing a closet tour would be fun too! Thanks for sharing so many inspirational videos. I’m not a mom yet, but seeing you be so resourceful and mindful of what you bring into your home is so unique and inspiring.
Great video! My 2.5yo is potty trained and I just had a newborn. We loved the Flip diaper system too! Hubby and I both work full time and thankfully our daycare will accommodate cloth diapering. We used the flips at home and sent pocket diapers to daycare so they didn’t have any more work than with disposable diapers.
I used cloth diapers for my first 3 babies, but I gave up by the 4th! It just got to be a crazy amount of laundry, and my husband wasn't on board after 6 months of so when they started eating solids. I used the Egyptian cotton pre-folds with the diaper covers. I used disposable s at night and when we left the house. The cotton pre-folds make great burp cloths and changing table pads, which is all I use them for now. Oh yeah, and the Diaper Champ, if they still sell it, is an awesome diaper pail for cloth diapers as well as disposables.
I used eco o in for my first baby. We had 1 cover and used flour sack towels until she got bigger then I cut up a couple towels I got from the thrift store to create more absorbency. 😊 The last two babies I used kawaii baby pocket diapers. I like both methods but prefer the fst and cover for new babies because my kawaii even in NB size were massive and I have 7.5lb babies
For my children I used old fashioned cloth diapers, like the ones my mom used, because they are made at home, so cheap! I carried them and ziplock bags in my baby bag when going out, I would just spray them with vinegar water before putting the soiled ones in the ziplock, so they would be moist until I got home and put them in the diaper bucket. Every night I would run the washer /dryer, and they would all be ready again.
Hi Lisa! Just found out that we are expecting out first child! I would really like to cloth diaper and would love to make a bunch of inserts before baby arrives! I watch all your sewing tutorials and would love if you made a "How to make a cloth diaper insert" video if you have time :)! Thanks for everything!
Thank you so much!!!! I have decided to use cloth diapers every since I saw ur minimalist video. this will be our fourth baby and I don't want to bunch of stuff or stress. Ive been trying to google cloth diapers but there are so many different kinds and brands its over whelming when I know almost nothing about it I'm so excited to start collecting our cloth diaper supplies!!!!
Thank you for making this video and sharing your knowledge. My husband and I want to start a family soon, and I need to be educated on this since none of my family cloth diapered.
I too have been cloth diapering for 9 years. I love seeing what is working for other moms, and sounds like you have come to a similar conclusion as me. My fifth baby is 8 months old. After trying all kinds of diapers, my favorite is organic cotton prefolds with a cotton doubler and flip covers. I never have leaks. I was just telling my sister-in-law the other day that if I could start all over I would buy prefolds and covers and skip everything else.
I find this all so confusing! I'm not even TTC yet but I'm glad I started researching this early as there just seems to be so many options. I did like the sound of the AIO but hardly anyone seems to use them so that makes me doubt. Using covers seemed complicated but you made it look so easy so I'm going to look into that more now, especially since my main reason for going cloth is to save money and this way seems much cheaper than buying loads of AIO or pockets.
The cheapest is definitely covers but it's the most time consuming option along with pocket diapers. I like bum genius aios and diapers with snap in inserts, you can add absorancy as well. If you air dry like me they take up less space and don't take very long to dry. I reach for them first out of the laundry when I'm low for that reason. I also prefer velcro but it's an extra step to use the laundry tabs before washing. Velcro isn't as durable and all brands aren't created equal, I like thick velcro tabs.
this was so helpful. ive been cloth diapering on and off for 5 years now and really wanted to commit with my most recent baby but it gets a little frustrating dealing with leaks. you are so right about these econobum diapers though! thank you!!! ive had way less leaks.....i just wanted to add that i found you can save a few extra dollars by shopping from their "seconds" collection. the "seconds" are still new diapers but they're marked down cause they were just less than perfect. these are the only ones ive purchased from econobums and they looked pretty perfect to me lol. anywho...thank you again!
Love your video. Please, make one about how you keep them until you wash them and how you wash them. Also, tell us how muchos you use during the day, more por less. Thanks!
Ca're Settles start now. Watch for sales/deals. And if you’re comfortable with buying used keep an eye out on apps like OfferUp or Craigslist or eBay. I amassed a huge stash before getting pregnant- all different brands, styles- and I did so for under $200. I was told to buy a few different styles and find what works best on baby and for our family but I ended up having a ton to choose from just because I’d watch prices and buy when it was too low to pass up. Like $10 for bumgenius all in ones. So I had 8 new bumgenius or imagine or rumperroo newborn all in ones, 8 new bumgenius one size all in ones, 24 used pocket bum genius diapers, 8 thirsties covers and a bajillion flats, prefolds, and fitteds. Most of the prefolds actually absorb better after they’ve been used for a bit so buying used is better than new. Because I started early, I could be picky, and everything I bought was so so gently used and I also only wanted white because I have a dye allergy that I didn’t know if it would pass on to baby. So White everything. Which was quite a task when most people love the prints and colors. Again I spent less than $200 to cloth diaper my baby and I had plenty so that I wasn’t constantly reusing them every two days after washing, which meant they have held up longer because I only have to use them one every four days even though I wash every two.
Oh, awesome! I've been scoping them out a lot recently and it looks like most of the big sites have Earth Day sales going on right now. Maybe I'll pick a few up and start practicing folds. ;)
This video is so helpful! I am definitely looking forward to your wash routine video. I have a huge stash of AlvaBaby (pocket diapers), and I love them! What I don’t understand is WHY do the inserts that come with the covers suck 😩 They may work for others, but my daughter is a heavy heavy HEAVY wetter, so anything less than hemp is problematic after an hour or so. I have been wanting to try making my own inserts to see if I can just come up with a concoction of different materials to help with the leaks, and this video has really helped feeling more confident with it! Thank you 😊
Thats what I totally find! Like who are these kids that barely ever wet their diaper?! That's why I like the covers, so I can stack in as much as my kids need to keep them dry. :)
They are likely microfibres microfibres is prone to compression leaks, and it isn’t a natural fiber so it doesn’t hold as much but can hold only Stink 😥
Thanks so much for these videos! I just had my daughter on Thursday and am ready to start her in cloth! I was hoping you would share your homemade laundry detergent recipe that is cloth friendly, so can’t wait for part 2! :)
This is awesome! My first is due in July and I just placed an order of prefolds and covers. I've been looking at some absorbent inserts but it's nice to know I can easily make my own.
Thank you!! I have been going back for and forth between covers and pockets. I love covers, but I have a couple pockets that were gifted. Just made up my mind!!
I do the same exact thing, I add a doubler or something (I actually cut up my old gerber prefolds and use the thicker middle part as an insert LOL) inside the prefold and use covers. Works great. and really easy, i never have used a snappy or pins and Ive cloth diapered 2 babies so far
Yes I was growing up wearing cloth diapers in a Chinese village. It wasn't any disposable diapers back then (27 years ago)... My diapers were literally made of my elders sister's old clothes and tighten around my waist by some kind of strings ... Having a baby now doing a little research about diapering, it's convenient to use the disposable ones for sure but it's kinda pricey for long term. I think I would stick with cloth diapers and use disposable ones while going on a trip... Great channel great live style and great video again Lisa! Thank you!
hy!! I'm new to cloth diapering and was wondering if you could share how you wash you inserts and covers, and if you stripp them every now and then, what do you use,to avoid ammonium burns/odor. thanks a lot, I really enjoy your channel!!!😊
Double gusseted covers are so much better. No double stuffing needed. On the rare occasion of leaks for us it was always user error of us not tucking in the insert all the way. You should try some out.
I have been cloth diapering my second for 8 weeks now. He’s growing out of his newborn cloth so I got some flip covers. He’s not really fitting into my pockets and AIO. So the flips are fitting great. I got them for super good deal on earth day for $7 a piece.
We cloth diapers as well...i really came to love thirsties covers with prefolds and snappi's. But I think I tried just about every kind of cover with prefolds options. Yea you for doing it with all five! I did it with both my girls.
Hi am new first time mum! Just wondering because I’ve been looking into thirsties covers and prefolds as well, did u find that when ur baby peed their bum would stay very wet if they weren’t changed straight away?
The baby’s bum only gets really wet if the cotton diaper underneath is completely saturated. But there are insertthat you gan get that give a stay dry liner effect as well.
I recently found your channel and have been so inspired by you and your ideas! My Einkorn flour just arrived today so sourdough here we come!! 🤗Thank you for this video I am going try this out! *Also please tell me how you stay so tiny and fit after so many babies??! Thanks! ❤️a momma of four boys
I’m a fan of the thirsties covers and hemp cotton prefolds which are pretty cheap on Kelly’s closet website. A similar system, but I have a heavy wetter and I don’t have to add layers.
Hi Lisa, do you use extra inserts for when baby poops? Here in the netherlands i use thin fibery disposable inserts, makes cleaning with poop verry handy ♡ i have 5 kids and use prefolds to! With blumchen covers...
I love Flips!!! I use Flips and Thirsties Duo Wraps mainly, but that extra flap to tuck the pad folds in on the Flips are great! Another great economical option for inserts are cotton flour sack towels. $1 each or less (I got mine on sale at Target). I like to boost them with an extra insert for naps or going out. Only time we ever had a leak was with an AIO!
I'm getting ready for my third baby and I am planning on cloth diapering- using flats and hemp doublers. Flats require some folding but, I'm a fan of folding, I find it meditative. I did one child with all disposables and one with half and half cloth in the day, disposables at night. Have you talked about how you wash the diapers? I have problems remembering my laundry is in the machine. So, It takes me all day to get a load washed and dried. I'm wondering how you stay on top of ALL the washing you have to do. You mentioned your older kids put the clothes away- but I'm sure that diaper washing is still is an orchestration. Do you use a diaper sprayer? Also, have you tried Thirsties diaper covers? I like their double gussets and the fact that they come with hook and loop. I hate snaps! The snaps probably kept me from- full time cloth diapering last time- I couldn't take the snaps with so little sleep...
So happy you made this video! I invested in the econobum cloth diaper box set and also a few econobum newborn covers per your advice in your minimalist baby essentials video about a month ago in anticipation for my first baby coming sometime in May. I've been watching other insert videos on RUclips but much prefer your straight-forward and informative videos so I'm thankful you took the time to make this as an add on to your last video! The newborn covers do seem very tiny but like you said, I have no idea how small baby will be so I also think it's a good idea to have.
I think you will really love them, especially if your baby is average size. Mine just keep getting bigger every time! If we go for a 6th, I'm probably lookin at a 9 pounder. Ha!
Wow, won't that be exciting! lol At least your body will be somewhat ready for it after 5 babes! Awesome you guys have such a large family, my hubby and I would love many children if the Lord permits! Get the tribe going ;)
So I have also some flip diapers (use it already for the second child) but the really anti-leaking covers are blueberry capris. For the inside we use “cheesecloth”
Man I wish i had this video before i bought my stash 1.5 year ago. I got some covers second hand like what you have and I just prefer them compared to my pockets and aio. We caved and use disposables now but I am really wanting to get back into it. Thanks for inspiring me.
I really like organic cotton flats (I pad fold them to fit into covers). I also love wool though so I used fitteds with wool covers. I have "big babies". Smallest was 8 lbs 1 oz and biggest was 9 lbs 10 ozs.
Cloth diapers are great I did it for 14 years the only child I didn’t was the hardest to potty train. I luv the organic bamboo liners on eBay. I actually started using washable period pads know to for my self there organic bamboo also found on eBay and I luv them there even panty liners and there waterproof feel like just cotton underwear. Highly recommend you try them for your family.
Excited your doing this! I use Thirsties covers and prefolds with a snappi (it's time consuming but I use a jelly roll fold because it keeps the poop from leaking out) but I've been having a hard time recently with the front of the prefold getting it out if the front of the cover and leaking on to his clothes so I've considered trying flip covers.
LeahAtHome I find out Thristies covers leak really bad too. Like my 18 month old is peeing out of the front. Not the legs but like through the front ☹️
I got the Thirsties because of the double leg gusset. But I've been hearing such good things about flip that I am going to get a couple. Plus, trying to jelly roll fold and snappi on a squirmy 7 month old is nearly impossible...I have to be able to do a pad fold and be done with it. 😣
Did you use different sizes of prefolds?i kinda thought you just bought one size and folded them different ways depending on the size of the child, but now looking into them there are a few different sizes. didnt want to have to buy multiple sets of them. wondering your opinion?
Hello Lisa, I was wondering if maybe you can do a video on how a Flip Diaper should fit on a baby. I've purchased the Flip cover that you mentioned in this video, but I haven't found a good source as to how the diaper should be on baby properly. Thanks!!
My baby is 7 months old now (second baby) and I am just starting to use some clothes diapers. The only “issue” I see is that since they are much bulkier than the disposable ones, she seems uncomfortable. I’ll try this Flip ones and see how it goes. Thank you for this video!!
I used bum genius free time. They were great! Hardly EVER had leakage and she was a heavy wetter. It's a one size, all in one diaper, and it has two absorbent layers. If you have another babe maybe give one a go. 😉
Hi Lisa, I would like to ask you if it is OK for a baby to be in this type of cloth diaper (kind of plastic covers and inserts) over night. I like this concept very much and plan to do it this way but I am not sure if it is safe for their skin overnight... Are these covers breathable enough? Thank you very much for the video series about diapers, really useful! Have a nice day :-)
Hello! I have a question, but first -I am so grateful for your videos. I thought I was a crazy person for wanting to avoid using disposable. I don't know anyone who has used cloth diapers, so you have give me loads of hope. Thank you! QUESTION: Have you experimented with different types of folds (other than trifold) and fasteners to avoid leakage? Or do you simply find the trifold with additional inserts sufficient?
Hi Lisa, I'm new to your channel and lovin' it! My baby is 6 weeks old and I cloth diaper. I use the cover type but now it's leaking a lot bcs baby is getting really active. So i'm changing to the snap one (is that the name? It's where you put the insert and have to change the whole thing). My baby starts having rash these past 2 days, so I check on YT how other moms do cloth diaper. Hope you can share your thought on this one! Would be great to know your tips like how long before you change to the next diapers, etc. Thanks a bunch! Xoxo
Do you ever notice that your inserts move around in the diaper while they wear them. I notice this with my daughter, she wears my homemade flipcovers with flats that I fold into a rectangle. But sometimes her poo gets on the back of the liner making a bigger mess then usual. Love your videos btw they are so relaxing.
This is a great follow up to your minimalist baby essentials video. I was wondering how the cloth diapers you recommended were holding up. The videos you have planned would make a awesome series! Do you/would you sell your homemade diaper inserts?
Did you ever have to buy different sizes of the prefolds? Did you have poop blowouts when trifolding the prefolds during the newborn stage or early on? Thanks!!
I use cotton prefolds hand made by me 4 or 6 layer flannel boosters that lasts my daughter 2-3hrs definitely not an over night solution for us. 😂😂 it's crazy how different baby can be.
Hello, do you make your own diaper rash cream too? (Or what do you use?) If you do make it, do you have a tutorial on it? I would love to see you do one!
Hi! Thanks for the super informative video. One question I still have about these kinds of diapers, how do you actually do a diaper change? Seems like you would need an extra arm to hold the baby and fold and place the inserts. Do you fold inserts ahead of time? Would love to hear how you manage this
I have a question! which size of organic cotton prefolds do you recommend if we would like to avoid switching as baby grows? I see that in the one you recommended there are two sizes (7-15lbs or 15-30lbs)? Thank you!
Hi Lisa, Have you ever changed out the elastic on the Econobums? I just bought some (used) and am thinking they need a refresher, but don't really know where to start. I'm a pretty experienced sewer, but I'm 39 weeks pregnant and don't have a lot of energy to be innovative and figure it out myself. :)
Hello! Do you have any suggestions on all natural covers that can repel liquids? I know there are fleece and wool covers. I am trying to stay away from plastic and polyester (petroleum) and go more natural, eco freiendly. PUL material just seems too synthetic
Hi Lisa, do you have any favourite diaper cover like Flip that you'd recommend for smaller newborns? (7lb-8lb) I hear the Flip one size is too big for most newborns... looking for suitable alternatives until baby can fit into Flip!
Hi Lisa! I came across your channel a couple months ago and am hooked! Thank you so much for all the content you post, it's all so helpful and inspiring :D I wanted to ask: What do you use to clean your baby's skin when diaper-changing? Is warm water enough or do you use a homemade cleanser for their skin? I am expecting my first in 2 months, God willing! Xx
I'm preparing my cloth diaper adventure and would like to make some flannel inserts like you did. Is it just two layers of flannel or is there another layer or flannel or different fabric in the middle? Thanks for any advice! No one cloth diapers here in Spain so I'm on a solo venture, basically hand making my covers (flip equivalent), cloth wipes, inserts, nursing pads, etc and everyone thinks I'm nuts. We are very minimalist also and I'm happy I found your channel! Oh, I almost forgot, how many newborn covers do you think are necessary?
My oldest is 50 , I had cloth diapers for all my children, I remember it well. Hanging diapers on a clothesline to dry and bleach in the sun. Sitting and folding piles . One way for girls and one way for boys. The rubber pants were the worse though.

Donna couldn't have said it better!!!
Donna "You have a husband" like he is another person/thing that can't care for it self?:)))
Nadiya Nanoha are you married?...
😂😂
He is actually a pretty helpful guy!
Your the only person who showed such easy cloth diapers and the basics that you need I wish I saw your videos before!!

That was on my list a long time ago and I forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder! Congrats on the pregnancy. How exciting!
Literally no AIO or pockets. Impressive.
O and for newly moms here, when i am out and about and forgot an extra prefold...i always have hydrofil towels with me...works just fine!
I can't wait for the next video on cloth diapering! This was so helpful, Lisa. So thankful you are sharing!!
Thank you so much!!!! I have decided to use cloth diapers every since I saw ur minimalist video. this will be our fourth baby and I don't want to bunch of stuff or stress. Haha we sound exactly alike!
LOL!! So I would love to hear how you potty train. Child #1 thru #3 were easy. Child #4 has been a challenge.
I just started cloth diapers 4 months ago with my first baby. And I do very similar things. I use the GroVia brand and it’s works for me.
I find this all so confusing! I'm not even TTC yet but I'm glad I started researching this early as there just seems to be so many options. Incredible content. Love your mission ❤ thanks for promoting good family values
Great Great video! You did a wonderful job giving the nuts and bolts to this confusing system!
this was so helpful. ive been cloth diapering on and off for 5 years now and really wanted to commit with my most recent baby but it gets a little frustrating dealing with leaks. you are so right about these econobum diapers though! thank you!!! ive had way less leaks.....i just wanted to add that i found you can save a few extra dollars by shopping from their "seconds" collection. the "seconds" are still new diapers but they're marked down cause they were just less than perfect. these are the only ones ive purchased from econobums and they looked pretty perfect to me lol. anywho...thank you again!
Love your video. Please, make one about how you keep them until you wash them and how you wash them. Also, tell us how muchos you use during the day, more por less. Thanks!
Yay! Thank you so much! I'm currently TTC and can't wait to start buying my cloth diaper stash! I also plan on using covers with inserts.
They are likely microfibres microfibres is prone to compression leaks, and it isn’t a natural fiber so it doesn’t hold as much but can hold only
Stink 😥
Thanks so much for these videos! I just had my daughter on Thursday and am ready to start her in cloth! I was hoping you would share your homemade laundry detergent recipe that is cloth friendly, so can’t wait for part 2! :)
Aww congrats!!
This is awesome! My first is due in July and I just placed an order of prefolds and covers. I've been looking at some absorbent inserts but it's nice to know I can easily make my own.
Congrats Rae!
The magazine explanation is way too funny!😂 Thank you for the info!
Haha thanks for noticing! ;) I'm never really sure if anyone is reading the descriptions. :)
I thought so too. 😂
This is so helpful! Thank you! I'm here as a first time momma!
Such a helpful video for a first time mom! Thank you!
I'm so glad!
Thank you!
Thank you so much Jolene! I think you will find cloth diapers today are super convenient. :)
Thanks this was so helpful!! I am going to go with the Flip diapers because of you recommendation and the prints are super cute too!
I'm so glad!
I love it!! Thank you so much! This definitely has narrowed down the search for me. So looking forward to your wash routine next. 💕
I would like to see some spring cleaning videos on natural cleaning
SO HELPFUL !!
THANKS MOM!!!
Wolbybug are similar to flip covers, and only 10$! I like Kelly’s closet for my diapers. All diapers are compliant
Thanks for sharing! I'm pregnant with my first and your tips and suggestions are really appreciated :-) Looking forward to the next video!
Congrats!
I’m a fan of the thirsties covers and hemp cotton prefolds which are pretty cheap on Kelly’s closet website. A similar system, but I have a heavy wetter and I don’t have to add layers.
We love cloth diapers too!
Great idea!
Love flip covers! My fav inserts were the prefold like you but the Thirsties brand hemp boosters! They are so absorbant.
Donna J Hi Lisa. You should try Ragababe diapers. They're the best out there to prevent leakage and very well made. Excellent customer service also.
So I have also some flip diapers (use it already for the second child) but the really anti-leaking covers are blueberry capris. For the inside we use “cheesecloth”
How many layers of flannel did you use for the extra soaker that you made?
Things have sure changed since I started with cloth diapers 45 yrs ago!
This is wonderful! Thank-you! About to have our first and we’re excited to cloth diaper!
Congrats!!
Man I wish i had this video before i bought my stash 1.5 year ago. I got some covers second hand like what you have and I just prefer them compared to my pockets and aio. We caved and use disposables now but I am really wanting to get back into it. Thanks for inspiring me.
Maybe check out some local buy/sell/trade sites to see you if you can dip your toe back in with a couple of covers. You might really like them!
I really like organic cotton flats (I pad fold them to fit into covers). I also love wool though so I used fitteds with wool covers. I have "big babies". Smallest was 8 lbs 1 oz and biggest was 9 lbs 10 ozs.
Oh wow! Yours are big too. Mine just keep getting bigger each time!
Red of Dead Hard potty train is no bad thing. Kids train when they are ready:)
I use those too! ;)
Is this recommended for new babies? Which diaper doesn’t leak for older babies?
Hello Lisa, I was wondering if maybe you can do a video on how a Flip Diaper should fit on a baby. I've purchased the Flip cover that you mentioned in this video, but I haven't found a good source as to how the diaper should be on baby properly. Thanks!!
Did you ever fold the prefold around your baby and use a snappi? Or did the trifold work well for newborns as well?
Any chance you have updated links for the Econobum or Flip hybrid reusable cloth diapers? Looks like they aren't available on amazon anymore.
My baby is 7 months old now (second baby) and I am just starting to use some clothes diapers. The only “issue” I see is that since they are much bulkier than the disposable ones, she seems uncomfortable. I’ll try this Flip ones and see how it goes. Thank you for this video!!
natusce if you can try different folds to see if the fit is better. The covers are so nice
They are definitely bulkier than disposables, but my babies have never seemed to mind.
I used bum genius free time. They were great! Hardly EVER had leakage and she was a heavy wetter. It's a one size, all in one diaper, and it has two absorbent layers. If you have another babe maybe give one a go. 😉
Oh and by the way, I wanted to say thank you for recommending grove collaborative. I love them ❤️
So glad!! :)
Thanks for creating this channel, I’m enjoying your videos. :)
Would the flip cover work well for newborns or should I buy a cover made specifically for newborns?
SO question! If you already bought the kind you stuff, can you just not stuff them and lay the pads on top instead like you would with your covers?
I haven't experimented with any of that. The extra insert is sufficient. :)
How many layers did you use for the inserts?
I've been looking for Econobum diaper covers and they are very hard to find. They are even out of stock on amazon.
Hmm that's a good idea! They are a quick sew, so I would consider it. :)
Love your explanation...
Would love to hear how you manage this
Would terry square folds work as an insert ??
I have a question! which size of organic cotton prefolds do you recommend if we would like to avoid switching as baby grows? I see that in the one you recommended there are two sizes (7-15lbs or 15-30lbs)? Thank you!
The econobum set up you do seems bulky? Is it!? I could be totally wrong.
Hi Lisa. I'm trying cloth diapers but find they leave my baby's skin red compared to disposables. Did you ever find that happening to you?
Hi Lisa, do you have any favourite diaper cover like Flip that you'd recommend for smaller newborns? (7lb-8lb) I hear the Flip one size is too big for most newborns... looking for suitable alternatives until baby can fit into Flip!
Hi Lisa! I came across your channel a couple months ago and am hooked! Thank you so much for all the content you post, it's all so helpful and inspiring :D
I wanted to ask: What do you use to clean your baby's skin when diaper-changing? Is warm water enough or do you use a homemade cleanser for their skin?
I am expecting my first in 2 months, God willing! Xx
Are the Flip covers now bumgenius ?
"A little over nine years"
Wow, we got a professional here
I'm preparing my cloth diaper adventure and would like to make some flannel inserts like you did.
Great question!
