  • 🎛️ Let’s create some ambient loops with ‪@HologramElectronics‬ Microcosm and ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ Mood Mkii Pedals using ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 Field Synth! 🎶🎚️
    Hey fellow sound explorers! Today, let's dive into the captivating world of ambient music and unleash the creative potential of the Hologram Microcosm and Chase Bliss Mood Mkii pedals, combined with the versatile Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field Synth. Brace yourselves for a sonic journey like no other! 🌌🎵
    Both the Microcosm and Mood Mkii pedals are renowned for their ability to generate mesmerizing micro-loops that transport you to ethereal soundscapes. When paired with the OP-1 Field Synth, the possibilities for crafting ambient textures become limitless. Let's explore the key elements and features of these pedals that will help you unlock your sonic imagination.
    One of the fundamental elements of creating ambient loops is the ability to capture and manipulate sound in real-time. The Hologram Microcosm offers an array of lush reverb, delay, and granular synthesis effects that can transform ordinary sounds into otherworldly textures. Its micro-loop feature allows you to capture short sections of audio and loop them endlessly, adding layers of complexity to your compositions. By experimenting with the various parameters and exploring the freeze function, you can create sustained drones and evolving sonic landscapes that envelop your listeners in a sea of tranquility. 🌌🎛️
    The Chase Bliss Mood Mkii pedal, on the other hand, takes an innovative approach to looping by combining three distinct modes: Micro, Judder, and Sustain. The Micro mode, in particular, excels at creating intricate micro-loops that blend seamlessly with the OP-1 Field Synth. By tweaking the various controls, such as pitch, density, and tape age, you can sculpt delicate and intricate ambient patterns that transport your audience to sonic dimensions beyond imagination. The Mood Mkii's freeze function adds a captivating layer of textural depth, allowing you to sustain and manipulate selected portions of your loops in real-time. It's a playground for sonic experimentation! 🎚️🔮

    I love this. I am going to try the same microcosm/mood setup with my Moog grandmother. Do you know if there’s a way to sync the clock between the two pedals?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  Год назад

      Why thank you!!!
      I have the Mood and Microcosm synced to a midi clock coming from the Microcosm. (MIDI clock coming is different than the Mood’s Clock knob).
      I have a 5-pin from the Microcosm into a Disaster Area Designs Midi Box and from there a TRS into the midi on the Mood. The DA Midi Box has a 5-pin thru so you could send that to the Grandmother.
      Both Microcosm and Mood receive midi clock so you could use any source. The mood receives it automatically. The Microcosm would need to make sure it’s configured to receive in the global settings

    are these pedals capable of doing anything else than ambient?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  9 месяцев назад

      Yes 100%. The ambient is more the “common” use. The Mood Mkii can be a basic reverb or delay. The Microcosm the a looper, reverb, chorus, or patterned delay plus more!
      It’s really more what you put into it, which most people do ambient, but I get where you’re coming from!

    Would you say that the Microcosm and the Mood are completely different or is there some overlap?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  Год назад +4

      That’s a really tough question! There is a bit of overlap in that they’re both in the glitch/granular realm, but I’d say they compliment each other more than anything.
      Mood is really an effect + micro looper capable of passing audio back and forth and really great for experimenting and finding different sounds. You put something in and get something out based on your settings…and there are a LOT of setting options making the possibilities nearly endless. That being said it still feels like an effect, but a really really good one (One that brings a smile to your face). You dial in the sound you want (or discover something new) and then play off it.
      The Microcosm on the other hand is like a computing machine. There are less overall controls but that doesn’t matter. To me it feels like the Microcosm thinks and listens and responds. It takes you along for the ride and you get to play along. The Microcosm actually does listen to your playing and give you the effect based on your playing. Most of the algorithms are wonderfully unpredictable. The Microcosm has added features like on-board tap tempo (which yes can act as a master clock) and a 60-sec looper.
      If I were to only put one on a show board it would probably be the Mood as it’s smaller and more predictable. But if I could only have 1 for the creative process it would probably be the Microcosm.
      I hope that helps! I love them both and highly recommend them if the space and budget allows for it.
      Thanks for the question and for watching! Let me know how else I can help!

    Can you please advise how you have this connected for recording? I have the Mood running into the Microcosm via TRS and then two mono cables from the Microcosm to my mixer; the stereo field on the Microcosm sounds normal, but the wide field/ping pong of the Mood is completely absent, even with the ‘spread’ and ‘MISO’ dip switches engaged. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Also - amazing track!

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  Год назад +4

      Thank you!
      Sounds like you have your Microcosm set to be mono input. Go into global configurations on the Microcosm and turn the “activity” knob. Then turn the preset knob to the right making sure lights 3&4 are lit. That will tell the Microcosm to look for a stereo signal.
      My signal is: out the op-1 field (which is stereo) via a ⅛”-¼” TRS cable (the MISO dip switch is NOT on my case), TRS cable from Mood into Microcosm and dual mono cables to the mixer.
      Hope that helps!

      @@thepedalcollaborative that helps a TON! I had no idea the Microcosm had mono/stereo input settings buried away in it. I have the manual but was too dense/lazy to dig it out of the attic where it’s stored lol
      Thanks so much, and keep making these awesome tracks! Subscribed!

    Is the field that much better and worth double the price? Thinking I should probably get the first one.

    • @thepedalcollaborative

      You know me and stereo dude! Ha!
      Honestly I can’t directly compare. I never got the OG simply because it was mono. I think if you don’t have an op-1 and want one and stereo is a thing then get the field. If you have an OG I’d say look at what you’d be gaining by getting the field. My buddy has an OG and is plenty satisfied with it.
      Either way the op-1 is a great take around synth!
