Dear Frederico, I wish I could give you a thousand likes for this! What a wonderful and inspiring video. It was like watching a great artist (whom you are) painting a colourful masterpiece. Thanks so much for this, and please - NEVER, EVER stop making music!!! You rock!!!!! Will now binge watch all your videos over the coming days. Love and light from sunny Thailand 🇹🇭 ☀️🏝
@@OoraMusic Nice! Thanks man. I’ve been playing around with the OP-1. Surprisingly powerful tool! & so much fun. It just works. And is easy to use straight out of the box. I also enjoyed your talk about how actually minimising your kit can make for more creativity as it allows you to ‘let go’. I’ll be watching your videos going forwards. Cheers from England!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The past two years I have been searching for ambient op-1 tutorials. This is my fav. So simple and informative. Hope you make more!
Totally blissful ambient moods. Nice walkthrough. Love these layered textures you're getting with the Mood and Microcosm. The Microcosm is on my list to purchase next, along with a Digitakt and a Make Noise Strega. I think that will cover all of my generative ambient needs for the future!
This video is incredibly useful. Thank you! Do you have other videos similar to this where you build ambient music with the OP-1 and walk us through how you did it? I want to create washes in the background while I noodle on my guitar on top of it. I’m dying to recreate some of the ambient work by Robin Guthrie. Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing your process, I have been a fan of yours on Instagram for a while and always enjoyed your work. I just got recommended your channel. It is really inspiring to see how you create your pieces. I will certainly try to bring some of it into my own experiments! Subbed! Keep it up
These are all great pedals. I do find that you have to keep the gain on the Rooms really low with synths or the output is too hot. OP1 isn’t my jam, but there are a lot of other great sound sources that will work just as well. Really enjoying your videos, thank you for sharing 🎛🙌🏻✨
This sounds incredible. What a great tutorial! I recently got an OP-1 and have been struggling creating my own ambient tones with it aside from the preset synth sounds. For the sounds you used, were they sampled?
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been playing with my OP-1 a bit and it’s amazing for this type of music indeed. Norns Compass on top of it is also a winner, when used sparsely!
Federico, dude. This was amazing. Thank you for making this. Just ordered an Op-1 and ended up on your channel from looking at Bliss Mood pedal videos. So stoked for my Op-1 to arrive :-)
Such a cool collaboration of pedals! Makes me excited to save up and buy some of these awesome instruments and pieces of technology to use them to make music myself!
Hi Federico, thank you for this nice video with a wonderful musical outcome. This question may sound odd, but where did you get these angled trs connecters/ patch cables?
That was absolutely fantastic. Great setup, very informative, beautiful ambient music. Just a great video and thank you for introducing me to a couple of new pedals I didnt know about!
What kind of cable do you need to run from the out of a effect pedal to your mixer/interface? Do you need one of those ones that go to dual 1/4 or XLR, or can it just be 1 mono input into an interface? Thanks!
Wow, I use a very similar batch of pedals with my OP-1. Just curious, do you run your pedals directly into a mixer, or do you place something else in the chain between the pedals and mixer? My output signal seems weak at times and curious if there's a fix for that. A great multi FX you may want to look at is Cooper FX Arcades. Since it uses many different cartridges/FX, you can do a lot with it for a small amount of space. Cheers!
Dear Federico, you are an inspiration to me. But today, may I simply ask the name of your cables please? I’ve been looking for hours for something similar. Thank you! Hugo
I like this a whole lot! Very nice video indeed! Would love myself an OP1, and a Hologram Microcosm. Got a Mood, and it is one of my favorite pedals of all time.
Great explanation on the pedals, love my Microcosm! Curious, on your Shallow Water, do you notice crackling in the audio out when turning the mix and volume knob that only goes away if you touch the casing while turning?
So lemme see if I understand the cabling - mixing and matching mono & Stereo pedals always gets a bit messy for me.... : OP-1 mono to Mood; Mood mono to Shallow Water; SW mono to Microcosm; Microcosm mono (why not stereo, since Microcosm can really play with the stereo space?) to Rooms....Rooms stereo to DAW?
Cool! I was looking for something to combine with the SP 404 mk2 (most use it for lofi beats but it’s a secret ambient powerhouse)- I won’t need that first pitch efx because the cassette and vinyl simulators in the SPmk2 will provide lots of wobble on their own. Im going with the Mood and microcosm - I think they will be perfect for sending SP loops through. Thanks!
Fantastic video! That’s a lot of pricy gear there too. I’m still hurting from my op1 cost. ;) anyway super clean setup and I’m dying to know where you got your cables. (I know, odd question). Please link!
Amazing sounds. Loving your videos. Where did you get the piano/vibraphone sounds for the op1? Are they your own samples? And pointers welcome! Keep up the good work
Heeey! Love the vibe man! ☺️✌🏻✨It is lush and sticks like a magnet to my ears! I was wondering when you turned on Rooms the stereo image just opened up so widely, from the video i get that you go through with a mono signal and in the end on Rooms you go mono/in, stereo/out is that right? What about phase?
Love your videos...I would like to replicate this arrangement but could you tell me this...are you connecting the Op-1 to your audio interface? And I see all the pedals are connected to each other, but then are are too connecting them to the Op-1? Or audio interface? Thanks!
Man this is the video I just needed. I’m doing a lot of meditation. Would love to start making ambient music. I would like to buy a kit like this but visual wise I want to choose for the Moog Grandmother. Is there a reason why you would choose the Op1 over the Grandmother?
Hi man --trying to plug my guitar effects pedal into my op-1 and get playback from the op-1 speaker. Is this possible? If so what cords should I plug in and where? Thanks.
Hey Federico! First off, great video - thanks so much. Quick question: the felt piano - did you create that patch with one of the OP-1 synth engines or did you load samples? If it was samples, which pitch did you load? Thanks again!
Could you recommend me a great effect pedal to use specifically with a digital piano? (For Piano, Rhodes, strings and synth sounds) I want an interesting sounding expression but with direct tactile control over everything. Thanks!
A delay or reverb would be a great place to start with a digital piano/synth. both instantly get you to spacey places. tremolo is also a good tool to get movement in background of your playing. i love my Tacana tremolo I got from Sentimental Bob electronics. Super versatile. I also love my dd200 delay from Boss. Reverb can be subjective, but the Rv5 reverb from Boss is awesome, pretty versatile, and cheap (in price, not quality).
This may sound crazy, but would love to see a video about how to actually cable, set a set up like this up and get it into a DAW....know that sounds basic but would be great to see
From what I can see, and what happened in the video he is using this path: •OP-1 or “sound source” into mood (loop/freeze with color) •Mood into Fairfield (eq, warmth) •Fairfield into Microcosm (delay/pitch shifting) •microcosm into Room (reverb) This would then run into your audio interface for DAW or a mixer for live performance. If you look at all the cables in the video there is only one in and one out, so nothing seems to be using stereo pairs or splitting the signal path. Just a standard pedal chain, with each pedal having wet/dry knob, and mixing that till you have the desired result at the end.
Unfortunately, the hologram is a bit bugged, sometimes few algorithms have no output volume and you need to restart the unit. I hope it will get fixed soon
I wish I could like this video a second time. This is one of the best ambient tutorial video's on youtube. Thanks for sharing your process.

yes, never had a di box, sometimes would be better to use one, but i never had the real needs..
