RIP Gregg Allman. I've probably seen this group live more than any other rock band. They are what laid back southern rock music is supposed to sound like! Excellent rabbit hole to go down.
One of the best concerts I've ever seen. I was under 20 at the time. Definitely do more ABB. Soulshine is a good one, Not my Cross to Bear another. Really anything by them. Nice reaction. Much love!!
You’re entering rarefied air now. This band does it all. Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country you name it. They’re well know for their live shows. Live At The Fillmore East is arguably the best live concert of all time. “The Whipping Post.”
This is the song that saved the Allmen Brothers band. When Duane died from his motorcycle accident Greg, Dickey, and the rest of the band thought that it was pretty much over, that is until Dickey came up with this little gem and thank God he did because without Rambling man the Allmen Brothers would have died with Duane.
This is their first album after the death of Duanne Allman.Dicky Betts stepped up to the plate and did a great job.Check out Blue sky or One way out or even Midnight rider! So many good ones
Everyone will say react to "Whipping post" (great song and a must reaction) but the song 'Revival" will knock your socks off! Thanks you guys are great!!!
Whipping Post is fantastic, but you also need to listen to Statesboro Blues, and I’m Gonna Move To The Outskirts.Allman Brothers have a VERY deep rabbit hole of music.
Allman Brothers always had more than one guitarist. Also, two drummers playing in sync on this recording. If you hear another song such as Whipping Post, you'll think you've hears two separate bands.
The Allman Brothers were pioneers in Southern Rock. Greg Allman (RIP) was ahead of his time. The artists that they influenced is countless. This was probably the first song I heard from them as a kid. They still get me rockin' to this day.
Duane was ahead of his time with the guitar, no doubt, but Greg was not "ahead of his time" with vocals nor keyboards. Greg and Dickie Betts were amazing song writers.
Glad you found this band. I'm on the "Whipping Post" band wagon with the others that say this needs a listen. Another Dickey Betts great is his instrumental Jessica named after is daughter. Phenomenal guitar work
The greatest American band period ! Their live shows were legendary, and it didn't matter what lineup the band had - they were all true musicians. Yep,that was Dickey Betts on guitar, and vocals accompanied by fellow Southern Rock legend Les Dudek

Ok, I’m definitely jealous. One of my all time favorite bands and I’m from the New York City area. Always caught their shows when they played here, 1973 and beyond. Yearly shows at The Beacon Theater, NYC. Incredible!! RIP Gregg, Duane, Berry and Butch. Terrible losses. You guys are sorely missed!

If you wanna hear the best guitar solos, listen to Blue Sky by Allman Brothers. Duane Allman, arguably the best guitar player ever, starts with a slide solo, then Duane and Dickie sync up, and Dickie Betts plays a solo. One of my favorite songs ever simply because of their guitar play.

Two full drum kits, two guitars, bass, keyboards gives you such a full sound. Duane Allman (RIP) gave them their sound with his slide guitar. He had passed before this song.
Dickey Betts was a prolific writer. He formed his own band with Great Southern. "Atlanta's Burning Down" is a beautiful song. "Nothing You Can Do" will no doubt get you to move.
The Allman Brothers actually bought a ranch 7 miles from my house. They have sold it now, but I went to visit the ranch and the big house they built on it. Sometimes you can't help but be a rambler, like the guy in this song. For me, I was born in Bermuda and was on my first international flight before I was 6 months old. So, with military parents, I ended up going to 12 different schools before graduating High school. Since then I've traveled and lived in various parts of the world, living about half my life in other countries. So, yeah, I have definitely rambled. lol
