Being a black man and growing up on southern rock, i got a lot of strange looks. The music just spoke to me , so i didn't even care. This was always one of my favorites! Such a simple message that means a lot. Music with heart and a message. That's what keeps it real. Thanks for venturing out beyond the hip-hop of today for a look and listen to the past.

Lynyrd Skynyrd grew up near Jacksonville, FL. They pretty much introduced the world to Southern Rock with some blues thrown in. Ronnie and one of the other band members wrote this shortly after he lost his grandmother and the other person (sorry, I don’t remember which one) lost his mother. They were sitting around one night talking about how their loved ones would give them life lessons, and that’s how the song came about

The rendition of T For Texas is awesome. Steve Gaines had just started with them. In a Skynyrd Documentary they said during that song Ronnie was watching Steve solo and big smile came across his face.

I love how you two get into these great songs! There is so much more to Ronnie’s story being the oldest son with 2 younger brothers. He also was one of 3 killed in their plane wreck. He was a boss and made sure the band all played great. Watch some live shows. He will look at you while you are doing your part serious. So great he and the band was… It’s still tough hearing them… Thank you again ☘️😎

I'm a southern white boy. Grew up on old school rock and old school rap,R&B and blues. There's a realism in that music whether you're from the streets or the hollar that is genuine and it's all struggle music. For blues check out Albert Collins or Leadbelly. You can feel everything in their music. Love this reaction channel.

You are listening to the music during my times. The music from the 70's will be around forever. The band's from our times will be known forever. I might be old but I got to see the best rock bands to ever play.

I'm gonna comment before the song starts. It's at:43. Ummmm, this was my dad's favorite song. He passed away in a car accident in October 1978. I happen to like this as well. Good song. I was a toddler, so I loved this song independently.
