    There is not enough improvising within drum corps! I know the soloists werent BD members but I have to think that in most corps there are plenty of capable improvisers and I would love to hear it more

      That’s interesting that you mention improvising. I think that became a huge staple in the 90s starting in the 70s. A buddy of mine talked about this recently and it seems to be a different time now. The focus is more on the side of perfection artistically(nothing wrong) as opposed to taking risks. Back then the members were encouraged to try some stuff, if the staff liked it, it stayed in. I think the last real year of improvisation was probably 2002 BD. I could be forgetting some years later but that’s the first to come to mind.

      That's correct. The soloists are all Bach artists. This was a collaboration between con-selmer and the Blue Devils. A bunch of Con-selmer artists went to help the Blue Devils and coach them for a week and did a collaboration performance together a night.

    Could you imagine making it to BD and your show has one of the most played out songs of all time?

    I noticed the Union Jack shorts, they may well be one of the last in a long line of Brits to march either BD or DCI with the almost complete demise of DCUK

    • @JonasWeckschmied
      @JonasWeckschmied Год назад

      Yeah, I wish it were different, but without high school marching bands, Drum Corps just doesn‘t really work in Europe.

    • @levivalentinovideos
      @levivalentinovideos Год назад

      DCUK managed 40 odd years I think which is quite impressive considering the lack of high school marching bands, most corps had links back to scout and boys brigade bands originally I think, but those activities don't seem to have bands anymore either

    • @JonasWeckschmied
      @JonasWeckschmied Год назад

      Yeah, it’s honestly quite surprising that it stuck around for such a long time. Obviously HS band is not the only factor at play here, but it still feels pretty much impossible to (re)-build something similar these days while also having to figure out how to even get people interested in the activity in the first place

    Soloist to aggressive for this particular song. Approach to this tune needs to be much more laid back I.e. flugelhorn would be more appropriate.
