I love watching victory run head cams! It just looks soooo fun and everyone is having a great time. I dream of recording myself a victory run head cam one day!
It's always a blast! I especially love how the stadium clears out so you're performing for mostly your own fans, family, volunteers, and staff. You can just feel the love in the air because they are the ones that make this truly possible. And keep dreaming big! I never thought I would have had this opportunity yet here we are! Keep working hard and you will do great things!!
I saw this live and god this is like a core memory for me. We had seats on the side 1 end zone during the show but for this we got seats right on the 50 yard line and that first big hit was absolutely insane to hear lol. I know I’m like a year late but amazing show lol.
That was enjoyable beyond belief. Great job to the entire corps, arrangers, directors, choreographers and anyone else involved with this fantastic group. The flugelhorn/trombone duo was excellent and I could tell they both played with feeling from the heart. Can't wait to listen to the next Blue Devils video.
(1) Kudos on yet another championship win!! (2) Sincere thanks for the entertainment, via sheer musicality, you've personally provided during these years. Be well !!
Salut Alex, je suis du Québec, j'ai été Drum Major pour un groupe près de Montréal, il y a très très très longtemps, ton show m'a tellement impressionnée que je le regarde tous les jours depuis le DCI, i love it, il love your solo, i love Both sides Now so much. Thank you for allowing us to see what you are experiencing on te field, it's very special. It's probably the best show i've seen so far. Congratulations to all of you, Greetings from Québec, Canada 🥰
I know it means nothing to you coming from me, but watching this I just feel so proud of you. I can’t explain how beautiful it sounds, and it truly inspires me to get better at trumpet. Congratulations on an amazing year!
This looks so surreal I wish to do this some day but I don’t play brass I play saxophone so sadly I couldn’t unless I learned a brass instrument I am currently learning trumpet at the moment though
For some reason I did not struggle with it until finals week. On semifinals night I actually wasn't even able to get it on before I had to go out and play the quartet at the end!
Still cannot get over how beautifully you played the solo in the ballad. Absolutely amazing, definitely my favorite solo of this year, honestly I'd go as far to say the decade it was that good. BD always has the best ballads and overall just such amazing shows, I know I've been working my tail off to hopefully join y'all this upcoming season.
@@alexjgiffordI saw BD live back at the DCI Summer Games, I was honestly surprised at the 92 BD got early season. You played beautifully then and even better late season. Should’ve said this earlier but congrats on the win! I have to ask, seriously, are you not marching with BD in 2024?
@@hunterward9137 Appreciate the kind words! Although I have another year of eligibility, I will not be marching in 2024 as I shift my focus to my professional career
@@alexjgifford I understand that, you’re also leaving on a high note (quite literally!). Thank you for what you’ve done for BD. If you’re ever interested in watching a good DCI opener I would recommend Crossmen 2012 “Fragile” if you’ve haven’t seen it yet.
Bro keep it up you deserve more reginition for this I have been writing down your guys trumpet three music to learn from both parts of this yeah and the opener feature from 2019 and I’m planning on not this upcoming season but the next going after cascades
Of all the headcams I’ve seen, this is perhaps the one that I relate to the most. My high school played Both Sides Now in 2022, and I had a mello solo in it that was not unlike this one. Also, one of our techs, Anna Gullet, was in this show. Also, for my solo in 2023, I stole the little horns down thing that you did where you held it to your chest (not sorry). Great job!!!
Love this cam! The run at 9:12 reminds me a lot of the run Mikey did at the end of the Blue Devils 2017 ballad. Also before your guys last scored run, me and my friend yelled your name and Daltons. I don’t know if you remember but we still talk about how we got the Flugelhorn and Trombone soloists to wave at us multiple times during finals.
Proud of you!!!!! Gonna have to tell Kenny you need to come back to SLHS to review how yardlines work though 😂 That being said, stellar season! Can't wait to hear more about it in the future 💪🏼
Thank you! The show this year was entitled "The Cut-Outs" and focused on the later life and artwork of Henri Matisse as he would cut out painted sheets and put them together to form colorful, lively pictures. We included several of his actual paintings in the show such as "Icarus", "The Cut-Outs", and "The Snail". The uniforms were also cutouts of past BD uniforms and had subtle references to Matisse's later works. This video from insideBD360 does a great job explaining all the little details: ruclips.net/video/cjNxsq2G-rc/видео.html
Hey Alex I have a question on how you or your fellow members are paying for drum corps multiple years in a row. I come from a slightly above average family financially so they can help but they would find it hard to help every year. I've been putting money away but at the rate I'm at I could only march every other year with some financial help with a top 12 group which is scary cuz I only have 5 years left to do it and I feel like with my experience and technique I could march a lot of places
The financial struggles are real for everyone in this activity, no worries! I was fortunate enough to have parents that were willing to help me throughout high school and a little once I got to college as well. We came up with a deal that I would repay them everything they covered once I get a job after college. I also got into an accident where I got hit by a car a couple of years ago and got enough money from that settlement to cover 2 years of BD tuition and travel expenses so I was very lucky (and unlucky lol) in that sense. There are also many scholarships out there that are available too!

same here bro, hopefully we both make where we hoping!
I love the silly little jazz licks the flugel always does in the ballad hits, literally the best part of these cams lol
Best part of the show for me too! It was so much fun getting to improv beneath the amazing sounds of the rest of the brass
@alexjgifford Was it fully improvised or was it written out in sheet music?

7:00 is the best entrance to any ballad I’ve ever heard. I get emotional every time I listen to this

Did you play that lick 9:13 throughout the whole season or was this a Victory Run only thing? Also Congrats On the great season!
Thank you! Yeah, I played that lick throughout the season but it was hard to hear since Pat was blasting a super high note
I don’t know if I’m slow, or I don’t get it, but did you not make blue devils for next year?
No worries man - I never planned on doing BD again in 2024 so I did not reaudition
Bro alex you are always amazing, but did patrick ever make a headcam.
He told me back in Roseville he’s not going to and I didn’t see him at encore have one on

Bro alex what happened to the flugel's third valve slide. Did you break it?
The trigger broke at the Rose Bowl show last year and they were never able to fix it so I just took the wooden piece off haha
