- 2024 Blue Devils Drumline hosting their nightly Flam contest in the lot at the DCI Walnut show on night 2. This was incredibly fun as there were numerous BD alums adding commentary throughout the entire contest.
From the surprise introduction by Quad Technician, Rudy Garcia, to the unofficial allocation of the Best Section Award by Matt Regua, the entire crowd was enjoying the contest.

Maybe it’s because I’m a tenor player but the tenors were super clean. !!! They all were. The entire battery is clean as a whistle

Although I like the sound of the snares, I think the tenors nailed it. Being able to do it without looking down to make sure where they are hitting is a deciding factor with many rims in the way, where snare and bass, there's only one. Bass second because it's multiple people playing separate parts in unison. Snares 3rd, even though there's multiple people, they're all playing the same thing. Not that any one section was better than the other, they're all amazing, but it's the difficulty of the challenge to over come to play the part that takes my decision.
Being a quad player for bd is a bitch!

Carpe Diem everyone! Kinda dirty snares. Finals are Aug 10 so help each other get cleaner!
They usually start dirty and get clean by finals, least that seems to be the trend for about 15 years

Truth is, even when Blue Devils finish 3rd, they’re still better than me, you, and nearly everyone else on the planet at what they do. Have some respect or take a hike.
