I could be wrong, but the shirt might say st baldricks on it, I know a friend who donated hair to them. My guess is that they donated hair and got a shirt
Amazing to watch. This performance gave me a tiny insight into just how much information a conductor gives to their team. Are your movements universal? Could you stand in front of a completely different orchestra and have them play exactly the same? Many thanks, Pete
This is a great example of how luve performances could never truly be replaced buy online and movie theater viewings. We can't all go to Indianapolis, but I highly recommend going to the closest competitions in your area. Nothing like it.
Holy Out Jazz Batman! How did that I missed this until now? I remember the day space chords was started. We were tuning our Timapni at Los Medanos camp in 78 and Frank asked if we wanted to hear something neat. They played this dissonant chord and then Jack did a "Hold My Beer" with it and now his son John took it to the moon and back! What an amazing organization.
Beat My Heart Skipped was by far one of my favorite shows to listen to, like while I'm working out, driving, etc, so it's so cool to see it played again
This is what's called a drum corps. They're the most talented marching bands in the world and have crazy sound. I'd suggest searching up God's Hornline by the Carolina Crown if you want to hear more of this.
I'm so glad bd did the beat my heart skipped, it's so warm and relatable compared to their artsy stuff (of which i think they're one of the few corps to do right/tastefully)
To be fair, 2011 was an iconic show that probably would have won against anything but between angels and demons. That show was just so creative and cool.
0:34 Dude the moment i heard this it just sounds like the BEST opener for like a hard bass hard lyrics rap song. Like you cant tell me that aint some hella potential for the hottest track to be spat after that build up.
Kinda wish we did a transition into some music when I was in the corps in 84....then again, the white noise resolving into a major chord and the "Close Encounters" motif moving through the voices was fun to play.
'The showband fanatic in me loves watching the moment at 2:10-2:14... Just as the chords stops and still echoing throughout the stadium, you're thinking, "Wait, why did they stop playing?" Then they hit you with that wall of power through their horns... I had to stand and cheer at that!
Love the guy with the shirt that says “go bald or go home” then he has the audacity to have a full head of hair.
Lmao great spot

@Kryzix Right
the dynamic range of this video is pretty typical
No speakers really do
They don’t. Been watching corps for thirty years and I’ve never heard speakers do the same thing.
I know mine didn't

I saw this in person, and trust me it was even better listening in the stadium. It sounded like the different sections were moving around you.

Trevon Hayes me too I would like the sheer music for snares
I'll see if scojo still has some that he'll give me

Trevon Hayes by burt bacharach* many other people did their own, but the 2011 show was based on lots of music by bacharach
