Six days sober today. I’m a 56 year old lawyer. I got whatever I wanted because as a Federal Prosecutor I had “credibility’”. Now I’m a grandmother. No one can avoid struggle and pain. It comes for us all, it’s supposed to. I’m going to be the calm in the storm when it comes for my two boys. One is already struggling with addiction. I’ve never admitted to this to anyone. This is my first time.
Hey hows it going?❤
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
ESPN is committing a crime by not playing his 30 for 30 at least once a week
Thx for cheering 4 US
watched this video a year ago 30 for 30 on espn i was a drug addict and tattoo artist...today i go to church and gave my life to christ was baptized aug 3rd 2013 this is the first story i ever heard and it changed my life
Yea, I'm a former drug addict myself. It all started with oxycontin also. Just about everything that happened to Chris happened to myself. I never was a basketball player but, the rest of the story is the same. Good luck
i would really like to me him in person one day my name is Daniel Caffey glad you are doing good Scott
GAMERSRUS Amen.. Praise the Lord!!
Wow! That is amazing! Praise God!
My brother had problems with drugs and alcohol. Every time I see this video in health class, I have to hold back tears. Chris is so inspiring and I wish my brother had seen this. I hope others see this. I hope they get better, and I hope they live a happy life. ❤️
He visited my school today!!! He literally brought everyone in my school to tears! Very inspiring!
Same
same!
I went to see him speak a couple years ago. There were people in the audience nodding out, presumably having been brought there by concerned family/friends in hopes that his story could get through to them.
I hope it at least worked for a few of them.
Me to
Ok.
He came to my school 6000 kids all stood up and clapped, inspired and it changed me. I'll never do drugs. I'm a freshmen.
Gordan Ramsay please don't, i was the kid who sat in the bleachers and laughed at the guys who came in. That wad 9 years ago and have lived a live of misery and addiction. There's no good in it only short term relief after short term relief
Peezy Smith I hope you stay that way
i will and already have taken up on my curiosity with drugs, but i don't think i'll ever get to the state of addiction. not after things like this and especially not after watching the movie "beautiful boy"
Damn, I’m a freshman now
Peezy Smith - you are the reason Chris Herren goes around the country devoting his life to this. If he can keep one person from going down that road, he has done something spectacular. I know he has affected many more lives than one, but knowing you'll never do drugs because of his story is a testament to his charisma and devotion as well as your dedication to live a life free from the chains of addiction.
This man saved my life, his book "Basketball Junkie" I read front to back on a flight from Boston back to San Francisco and have been sober since. Thank you Chris for helping me get help.
I hope you’re doing well! And I hope you’re happy wherever you are in life rn! ❤️
Some people are just meant for something else. He is helping many people in ways he could never had done as an NBA hall of famer. Might not be as flashy a position, but in the end he found his purpose and that's worth a lot more.
I believe that all schools need speakers like this because people are still clueless about the power of addiction. They dont know how low the lows are and how high the highs are. Only the addict knows how it feels. The family knows the hell, but only the addict knows the pure desperation of addiction. The Herron Project is doing god's work.
We were lucky to have him at our school in Pennsylvania. :)
Keith Mikell he just spoke at my school in Seattle
I bet it was awesome!
Keith Mikell he came to my school, it was really powerful when he talked to us
Im struggling so bad
U spoke to my class freshman year and I waved u off as a cult leader. Junior year I started substances and was quickly hooked. I got sober sophomore year of college and now have a podcast doing what u do. Thank u Chris🤞
My teacher assigned me to watch this video. I'm very against drugs. But this I needed to see.
he should have gotten a standing ovation
he got one at my school, saint johns shrewsbury mass
I just recently relapsed after 7 months:/ I feel so hopeless right now, but Chris gives me hope.
Dobbys Vlogs
Hang in there man
You can do it. I believe in you! I hope you’re better wherever you are rn. 💛
Head up
Hello Chris, thank you for your testimony about your struggle with addiction, I too am an addict . On day 3 of sobriety from hydrocodone after more than 30 years. 3 days ago I was on the verge of losing my wife due to my choices of substance abuse! After hearing your story, it brought me to tears because I wish I had been sober sooner, your story touched me in so many relatable ways but the fact that you figured it out at 32 and I am now 53, it broke my heart! I started my journal today and overcame another hurdle by admitting to my wife and family that I had been stealing pills from my sister we care for who has bone cancer. I have a long road to recovery from this addiction so again thank you for touching my life! I will celebrate one year alcohol free in 4 days, just wish I had done this sooner! God Bless!
Mr herren you may not know me. you went to my school and I respect you a lot. Many people ain't as strong as you. You never gave up on yourself and you succeed.
My GOD! This should have 100+million views!!, I'm a grown, 40 yr old man, and this hit home. Cause I was just like Chris. Though not a great as an athlete, but pretty damn good. And well, I'm in 😢! This is the RAWEST TRUTH!!!!
THIS GUY CAME TO MY SCHOOL THIS YEAR!!!! He literally brought most kids to tears in just 30 minutes in!!😭
i was crying the second i saw him
He visited my school today, and honestly I wasn’t expecting much. But his talk was amazing! Such an amazing story!
i remember when Chris Herren came to my school and talked, afterwards i went to talk with him and i started to cry while talking with him, he gave me a hug two times, it was really nice of him to come to my school and give me a hug when i was talking to him about what's happened in my family and stuff
and i never did anything bad like doing drugs, drinking, or anything harmful, but what i told him, was about my brother, about what had happened to me during the years i was in elementary school to eighth grade, during that i started tearing up
Mystic Blue he told us about your story when he talked to us
When he talked to my school, he told us about you
Chris, I have struggled with addiction through out high school. I have been kicked out of schools, lost friends and I have put my family through hell. I have been sober for 2 years now and sometimes I tell myself I can use again. Whenever I get those feelings, I watch one of your videos and it reminds me of what path I need to go down and that I need to keep working on my sobriety. Thank you
Same here. I've been sober for 63 days now. It'll only get better.
@Blaine DuBose, @Eric kiyo, I hope you're still doing okay!
Im right here with u Blane, in Cary, NC 22 months TODAY!!!! Im with u sir.
It does get better. I’m even on a new career path, and I became certified as a SMART Recovery facilitator. I cleaned up my act 17 months ago. It’s all about filling the void.
I believe in you! Wherever you are in life rn, I hope you’re doing well! ❤️
He came to my school. He is incredible
Omg he came and talked to my school and everyone was in tears
“If you were a kid would you look up to you”. That’s so deep!
why would any dislike this? wtf. I swear this man went through so much.
They liked it so much they flipped their screen upside down.
Chris I watched your 30 for 30 doc when I was in treatment. It changed my life. I am 6 years clean. Thank you for your experience strength and hope. You have helped so many addicts and I wish you all the best with your own recovery
Chris had to put himself through hell to find his purpose in life, and he has arrived there with such courage, humility, and dedication. What a voice, what a speaker. You are doing God's work Chris. You are sober today. One day at a time brother.
So beautifully said! I was going to write something similar, but I stand down in the face of your eloquence. He is All That.
Chris, you are a great man. Period. Keep up this mission.
Fantastic presentation Chris, I saw you play in high school and your college days and my daughter listened to one of your talks when she was in high school a few years ago. You are still a game changer...
I would show Unguarded in the Juvenile Detention Center I worked at every 2 weeks. I know it impacted kids. I appreciate your honesty and desire to remain sober. I see Chris Jr is playing well at BC. Glad he made it too. Keep up the great work. I wish my stepfather was this strong.
I watch this video everyday to remind me how thankful I am for the life I have thank you Chris love you brother
My 47 year old alchol addicted daughter is at your rehab in Chris in VA. Alcohol has taken her marriage, 2 children, and family from her. I her 77 year mother have spent more hours in prayer before God.
Chris and his counselors already are helping to reclaim her life!!
She has been in 7 rehabs and in the hospital for 13 times detoxing in 7 years. How I pray Chris's program in Warminster, VA along with thousands of prayer warriors on their knees will change her life and bring her back to God and her family!! God bless you Chris and your workers!!!
Alcohol and drugs destroy lives!!!
God I wish my loved one would get it!!! Every single minute of the day our hearts walk around outside of our chests "wondering when the call will come' This is such a strong story- I pray that he could stop lying to himself and really "see" that he is worth it.
Got to watch him give a presentation at my school today 1/14/2020 . His speech left me with no words at all. I deal with my mother being a drug addict and she tells my sisters and I not do ever do any kind of drugs because she doesn’t want us trying out like she did. I told her I don’t judge her by her past. It’s all about what your actions towards your future are! ❤️
No pun intended-a very sobering talk. "Whoever saves one, saves the world entire."
What an amazing man! He came to my school in New York and seeing him truly changed who I am & how I party. He's one of the sweetest men you'll meet too. Had me in tears and the other 1,000 of my classmates!
He is the best speaker I’ve ever seen
He came to my school today and only sophomores got to go here him speak, but I skipped class and went anyways. Worth it.
He came to my high school last year and he told us his story and so many people stopped doing drugs and respected him and some people were in tears
I'm seeing him speak in less than an hour!
my name is josh Chris u have changed my life thank u
Very powerful speaker; most addicts never have an inspiring story to tell. Their families usually talk about “what if’s “ and they were amazing people when not high.
Chris is an angel. A very very special and unique person. We're lucky to have him from Fall River.
Chris, Your a game changer in so many ways!
Thank u..
Thank you for this!!! You are amazing and I needed to hear this!!! God Bless you Sir, I pray my son has the same message someday soon!!!
Chris, I'm proud of you and the work you are doing. I regret that I missed your presentation in Fresno last month. A friend told me it was the best thing he had ever experienced. Just watched your Tark tribute and it's nothing short of fantastic.
He visited my school today and was so inspiring!
INCREDIBLE STORY!!
Been watching him all week. Inspiration
You’re a great speaker with a story that touches all of us addicts!!!
I’ve been sober for 14 years, I have a 15 yr. old granddaughter that saved my life when she was born!!!
I wish you could come speak at her school!!
She attends school in North Carolina. If this message finds you could you please let me know how to go about having you here??
I’m going to get purple shirts for her and her friends!!!
Thank you so much ….
God Bless you and your family.
Chris is long revered in Fresno, CA where he starred in college basketball, and as he admits he was high during most games. He is as honest as they come. Love you, Brother Chris.
My school watched this video, I believe. It was tearing in my eyes. This is so inspiring. We have shirts that we were told to wear every Tuesday. That was last year. I still wear it to this day every Tuesday at school. They also had us sign a poster type of thing, each grade signed it. I believe they also gave us bracelets. But anyways, I will never forget this. EVER!
You are an inspiration !
Great job Chris! This guy was a very, very special player back in the day. Great comeback
I got sober Aug 1 2020. One day at a time.
I know this has been in here for 3 years, but Chris spoke at my school my junior year, you could full on hear a pin drop
I watched this video 7 months ago and because of this video and the connection I had with it I’m proud to say I’m now 7 months clean from drugs, I lost everything and this gave me the hope and courage to be the man I am right now
I have heard some iteration of this speech by Chris Herren on TV, now on RUclips, and in person, and I can only say one thing: this man's story is life-changing. I am moved every time I hear him, and I know many others who can say the same. I hope people like Chris keep spreading the message, raising awareness, and thereby reducing the stigma regarding alcoholism and addiction. God bless the Herrens!
Thank you
Beautiful story
He came to my school yesterday alot of people walked out crying it really touched umy school actually a girl from my school told her story nor ablut addiction but how she gets bullied and everyone walked down and made a huge giant group hug.

i would be dead crying if i see him come into my school to speak to us. this man is incredible
I love u Chris! Amazing story
Chris, if you can could you come to my school. I go to McAuliffe International school in Denver Colorado. We are one on the best middle schools in the grade, but I know many people who do drugs. I've never thought about it, but my best friends was caught smoking weed with 9 other students. They are all good people but they just keep feeding their addiction. Thanks for helping millions of people!
HI mr Herren, I saw you a couple years ago in Schuylkill county ... was really nice ... you should go to N. Schuylkill HS ... they need a Project Purple badly
Chris: God bless you and your family.
He came to my school today, we watched a video on him and he just walked out like “hi” and we all were like “wut” and then he made all of us cry and it was so sad ;^;
he's coming to my school in May and I'm pretty pumped
He came to mine today in New York. He looked okay and clean, but you can tell he's really has used heavy drugs a lot in the past because he had random facial twitches. I think he has permanent damage from his mistakes. But at least he's okay.
💜💜 if you’re reading this, keep fighting.
Tore thru his first book like a mad man❤️❤️
Chris Herren was gonna be an absolute goat.
He came to my highschool today! So inspirational and his story is definitely worth hearing. I think he made an a great impact to my peers.
It's great what Chris is doing. Best of luck to you.
playing this guy's son today, already know we playing pusha t the whole shoot around
Jeeze the Project Purple story and the kids in the bleachers hit me in the gut. This man is a legend.

He's the man
Thinking of switching careers from construction to substance abuse 😬

He came to my school today
incredible story, sad to say, his sacrifice, so kids stay away from drugs, he should b proud
INSPIRATION
he just came to my school today
Hi I always watch your stories, I love you I just want help with my kids who are 15 & 18, I try so much day after day but it's so hard to say sober, I need help, I have a great network but it's so hard to tell them what's really going on, can you help me
And the beginning of his talk is exactly why I'm never going to hide the fact that I am an addict from my children. Of course age appropriate I think by the age of eight or nine my four month old will start to be introduced to it just like my almost 9-year-old already is. Explaining that Mommy is sick and Mommy has a disease and that you guys have the same disease etc the older they get the more they will learn I'm not going to lie to them I'm going to tell them if they try it they're going to absolutely love it and then they're going to want it more and more until It completely destroys their life. See my 9-year-old only has it on one side of the family while my four month old has it on both sides, me and his father are addicts. I am a recovering addict and his father is still ripping and running at the age of 45 and I think he might always be doing that. I'm 29 with my whole life ahead of me still and I'm definitely going to do all sorts of things for my boys. But I do like that you brought that up. Because parents should be talking to their children about addiction and alcoholism and the fact that they most likely are going to get addicted if they pick things up and try it... even alcohol at a party consume turn into them drinking it every single day and becoming dependent on it so far I'm adoring this Ted talk thank you ❤️❤️❤️
I need your help for someone close to me, do you make home visits? Do you have resources where I can find help for my loved one?
august 1st is his sobriety date and my birthday:D
What's up with that Amherst prop?

What finally helped him was a 12 step program...although it’s hardly mentioned...I’d love to hear his experience with the 12 step.
He just went to my school today 🤦♂️

His niece lives with him as well
