    October 2020- they changed the design and not for the better! There are no longer welded studs on the Barricade bumper. The new design has the bolts mounted to a plate which slips behind a welded piece on the bumper. These move in slotted holes and fall backwards behind the plate making alignment a biach! Also now have to mount brackets for the fog lights using very small nuts and bolts in challenging locations. This video is very good but just know that putting on the bumper is now as challenging as taking off the old
    One hint, if you remove the small fascia behind the stock bumper by removing the retains and sliding out to the drivers side (its tight but it comes out) all bolts and connectors are easily accessible.

    CPO, just installed mine yesterday. Your video made it a flawless endeavor (once I got the inner bolts loosened--what a pain). Like you said in the video, the hardest part is getting the stock bumper off. Getting the Barricade Trailforce on was a breeze. Also thanks for showing us that the wiring for the fog lights do not have to be spliced to work, only extended out of the wire loom a little. Please keep up the great work with additional videos. You are very much appreciated.

    Put this bumper on last weekend. Install took about 1.5 hours maybe 2 but I have a torn tendon in right elbow so I had to go slow. Bumper looks great! Wife wasn't quite as excited but did like the added protection over stock bumper. Haven't put a winch on yet but for anyone wanting to know the weight made my stock jku drop about 3/16-1/4 inch in fender height.

    It's a lot easier to use a ratchet on the two nuts on the inside frame rail by the vacuum canister if you remove the upper fascia in front of the grill first. Then you can access the nuts from the top on the outside of the bumper. This Extreme Terrain bumper has design details almost identical to the Restyling Factory bumpers available on Amazon. I noticed better construction details on the latter, and for much less $.

    Thanks for the detailed remove/install video. The factory bumper is a real PITA to get off and would have been worse if I hadn't seen this. I would suggest to anyone removing the factory bumper, if you have rust on the nuts and bolts, use WD40 or another penetrating spray. That could have saved both time and effort.

    I just finished installing this bumper on my 2016 JKU, it took me 2 hrs. What a pain it was removing the plastic inserts for the wire mold. Removing the 4 (18mil) inner nuts, were also a PITA. The instructions do not mention anything about re-installing the factory brackets. Instructions also mention about cutting and extending the wires, I did what you did and it's a nice fit. The only drilling I did was in the plastic cover. Used a 1 1'2" hole for when I install a winch.

    I just installed my barricade bumper this week, Its a great product. Not that heavy and looks great. Only problem I had, I order the barricade skid plate. once the plate is on and then bumper you cant get to 4 of the bolts. I ended up taking plate off and returning it. I'm going with the Hanson Skid plate. It mounts to the back of bumper bolts.

    Great video, planning on installing this bumper tomorrow, looks easy and should be fun. Just out of curiosity, when you cut the wire covering, and there was that blue piece exposed at 10:58 did you grab that from a hardware store? Also, since you cut off all the clips that connected the wire to the stock bumper, did you find that the wires hung kind of "loosely" since they weren't connected somewhere other than behind the fog light? I'm thinking about maybe adding some zipties to keep it clean and snug.

    • @o3djeeps
      @o3djeeps  9 лет назад

      +Camron Kiekintveld The blue section was some plastic wire loom I had on hand. Not required, but you'll end up with a few inches (6-ish if I remember correctly) that is out of the loom when you separate it out. You can add some loom to keep it all protected as stock -- it'll likely be on the passenger side that you really need to add it vs where I put it. The wires weren't really loose because there is just barely enough to reach....but you can certainly zip tie as you find appropriate.

    Does Barricade make a rear bumper that accommodates the rear hitch receiver for those of us with the towing package?

    • @o3djeeps
      @o3djeeps  9 лет назад

      +Jay Skeetor No, unfortunately. I also have a tow hitch on my JK. There are really two options at present. Remove your existing tow hitch and use the Barricade "unrated" tow hitch...or cut off the Baricade hitch and leave your "rated" tow hitch in place. My understanding is that it's not rated for towing because that requires additional testing and certification of some sort -- you know....rules. They put the hitch on there to support hitch accessories like bike racks and luggage racks. I do know people pull light trailers as well. I'm probably going to install the rear bumper as well, and will have to make this decision soon.

    I think this is the same Chinese bumper that gets repackaged by various sellers. One of which is EAG or E-Autogrilles which are cheaper on eBay. They are EXACTLY the same. If I am correct that they all come from the same place, and they do (China), I can tell you my EAG bumper is a rusty flaky piece of garbage! My Smittybuilt SRC bumper on my other JK was picture perfect for the whole time I owned it.

      Ben Lux It's actually one in the same w/ eBay brands such as e-auto grilles. Just a generic super oem budget bumper used by a dozen budget companies, poorly made, cheap powder coat that will peel and flaked within a year. You have to take product product reviews of items made by people that sponsor the RUclips channel it's being shown on. It's actually sad that people would sell their integrity & put out hyped up, overexaggerated reviews in exchange for mediocre free shit.
