Interesting procedure, but why punching the cards like that when there are cheap hole punchers for knitting cards available? I am myself using thick plastic sheet covers when I don't get real punch cards, and use templates to punch the holes with my hole puncher. Well, just my thought.......
Hi! I did end up buying the dedicated puncher. I wanted to show how you can do it without. I love options and hacks and workarounds and DIY in general. Do whatever suits you! Happy crafting! ^__^
Hi Gem, do you sell these? I have the print outs of the 18stitch punchcards but without the guide holes it's difficult to centre the holes, even if using a punch tool.
Hi! Thanks, no, I don't sell them. My designs are original and personal, so I made this video to show how to DIY your own original punch cards. If you have a premade/factory punch card, of course you can do just as I did, using a copier or a scanner. Good luck!
You can use any size printer paper, but you have to cut it to the width of the punch card, which is about 5". If you have a long punch pattern, you can tape the paper together as long as you need.
Hello... i'm trying to get a card for a Brother KH840 but there is no in my country..... could someone share a punch card scanned normal size by email? Thanks!
everyone recommends the hole punches that are make for knitting machine punch cards. Are there any other hole punches that are compatible? I noticed you used the 1/8 one only for the registration holes.
+Lorann Harris Hi! "Handy Punch" punchers are available online specifically for punching knitting machine punch cards. I don't have one of those so I improvised using what I've got. ;)
+Lorann Harris Oops I didn't finish what I was trying to write. I'm not sure what size punch I used for the design, it's part of a set for punching leather. The 1/8" paper punch only works near the edges since it doesn't have a long reach.
GemFOX Food and Craft sorry I mean the blank one you scanned in the beginning of the video I don't want your design, I'm asking about the mylar punch card with nothing written on it. I don't have my own punch cards but would like to make a design. I have looked online but I can't find blank ones to print off. thanks!
Oh I see hehe! The punch card I scanned was one that came with my machine. There may be something online. One sec. Ok here I found this perfo.12rus.ru/i12.php?key=view&file=59&font=1&visible=none&type=silver
@@gemfoxfoodandcraft You might also try: machineknittingetc.com/ they have all sorts of documentation on various machines. Sometimes the cards, sometimes just the punching pattern, and lots of KM manuals.
