I am brand new to this crafting at 67 years old. I've just crocheted my first baby hat and I wanted a pom pom for it. You are such a delight and so clear in your tutorial. Thank you so much for your help!
I am 73 and 2 years ago I crocheted a scarf that needed a POMPOM just need to say it was cute and a failure fell apart during the first wash😞 I’m going to try it this way. Hugs
My favorite pom pom video so far. I learned to do this method many many many years ago from my mom but I forgot and she passed away so not only did you teach me to make a great pompom, you also gave me back the memories of doing this with my mom, whom I miss terribly. Thank you so much! What a blessing. 💜

This has to be one of the easiest, most well explained tutorials I've ever seen for a pom pom. As someone who hasn't made them in 30 years, and needs to make a couple for a beanie, this is ABSOLUTELY the way I'm going to make them, and all future pom pom from now on! Thank you!
You did good. You explained well and I love your upbeat voice. I am 64 yers old and first time making pompoms. I’m so happy I learned from you. God bless you. Thank you.
@@annlalonde6809 , I'm right behind you at 66 and now I know how to make pompoms, too. I love how simple and upbeat this lady's instructions are. Have fun!
I used to make hundreds and hundreds of pom-poms for my grandma when I was about 10-16 years old. She used them for a number of things that she would make. My grandma has passed now, but I will never forget the easy way to make pom-pons. My grandpa would take a block of wood (extra pieces of 2x4's that he had leftover from other projects), maybe about 8-10" or so, sanded any tough edges, then took 2 nails and pounded them into the wood until about 3/4 of the way through. He used the nails that don't have a flat head on them (I'm sorry, I don't know what they're called). Anyways, he would space the 2 nails at different intervals apart, depending on the size of pom pom you want. Then, you start at the top, hold onto about 1.5" of yarn in your left hand, and start wrapping the yarn around the nails to the desired shape you want. You could wrap them in a figure 8 instead of just round and round, as well. Then, you cut off the same length of yarn that you started with (1.5"), wrap it around your pom pom in the middle and tie the 2 pieces together in a knot, nice and tight. Then, you just pop off the pom-pom from the nails and cut the edges/loops apart (that's why you don't use nails with the flat top on them). I know that sounds like a lot, but once you have the pieces of wood with the nails in them, you can whip off tons of pom-poms in any color and size that you want. The cardboard and toilet paper rolls work great, too - in case you can't make the pieces of wood. I just found it to have more steps than the wood chunks, and you didn't have to worry about the cardboard and tp rolls wearing out or bending. I hope this helps someone. Either way, pom-poms are so freaking adorable and you can use them in hundreds of ways. Thank you so much for the tutorial. 🙂💜
New subscriber here. What a unique way to make a pom, I am 71 and have made literally thousands of them and this looks like the quickest way I've ever seen. I have never used a pom maker made of plastic....they just seemed too slow. This is wonderful...thank you from Debbie and Dexter-Dog my amazing. Chihuahua companion living a quiet crafty knitty life in southern California.🙏🙏👍👍🎄🎄🐦🎅🌲🌲🏡🏡😄😃
Thank you for taking the time to share your tutorial. I just tried it and it turned out great. Those that have to make negative or rude comments should just not say anything at all if you can't be positive. Thank you
Yes, Yes, Yes! Thank you so much. Negative or rude people, I do not care for at all. It's so unnecessary & its impossible for some to pass on & not open their traps, literally. They are just that miserable! Do not go there, you're not wanted in or near my life & my happy world! Bless you wonderful people here & I appreciate your kindness! 💖💖😘😘🎼🎶☺
Old school pom pom making, I remember making these at school, nice to know that you don't always have to spend a fortune buying tools to make simple things. Thank you x
Oh girl! I just made 120 smaller pom poms but I used 2 fingers to wrap around and it worked! But this idea 💡 for a rug I want to make is PERFECT!!! I’m so glad I found your video!!!! I can’t wait to start mine...thank you sooo much...
I am loving it! Perfect pom pom for my beanie, thanks, hun! Now let me share with you why you may have dull scissors. I sew as well as crochet. We seamstresses have a strict rule about our fabric cutting scissors; we never use them on paper or cardboard because paper will dull the edges. We keep an extra pair of scissors just for paper, but guard our fabric ones with our lives, lol! And too if you want to sharpen yours, there are inexpensive sharpeners [$10-20] that can be purchased at a Joanns Fabric/craft store or ? in your area. Hope this helps.
I'm a beginner knitter and I just made a tea cozy that needed a pom pom topper. The first pom pom I made looked dreadful. Then I found your tutorial and now I have a perfect, multicolored pom pom! Your instructions were clear and they made the process easy and fun. Thank you so much!
I started crocheting just 2 or 3 months before everything shut down. I had just enough time to learn the basics and build a decent yarn and hook stock but hadn't gotten to anything extra or fancy yet, I hadn't even heard of a pom pom or tassle maker. I used this video and a paper towel roll cut in half for my first attempt and got it done beautifully the first try. I deeply appreciated this video, thank you
After 5 years of crocheting And watching crochet RUclipsrs. Second time watching this. Your still awesome. You're personality and how you speak in a good way reminds me of my favorite crocheter Fiberspider. Hes awesome
My first PERFECT pom pom - Thank you!! This came out so nicely. I am new-ish to crochet. Used to do granny squares as a kid and now wanting to make cool things for my 3 month old grandson. Just made an elf hat that requires a pom pom at the end. Just done that and now to attach it and send across the pond in time for Christmas!
I absolutely love this tutorial. I needed a refresher to make a pom pom for my granddaughter's Christmas hat that I'm crocheting and figured I would need to buy one of those tools from a craft. How lucky for me to find your video! None of the pom-poms I have made by hand in the past looked like these. Using the two toilet paper rolls was new to me as was trimming around the circle templates. Absolutely genius. I subscribed immediately to see more fun craft ideas.
also, certain parts of the scissors cut better, but try not to cut so much in one hit..if you use the point more and cut less bulk you may find they'll cut better..
The trimming part was so helpful...I made a hat and then it showed me how to make a pompom but the trimming was free form and Im not good at that so the card board template made all the difference....thank you
The easiest and best way to make the exact size pompom I need! I bought a pompom maker back a while and I just did not like it. This works sooo much better, thank you! 💜
The toilet paper rolls is the best method that I've seen. I'll try it next time. Those scissors were killing me though! 😄 I hope you have new ones now. ❤
As a 65+ year old woman I made pom poms as a child but they always turned out floppy. I tried making one again on my own just before viewing your video. I was so impressed how you explained so thoroughly step by step!! I never knew the final steps about using the two discs....What an amazing finish it is!!! Thank You for your youthful instruction!! I made my own PERFECT POM POM!!
I just finished crocheting a hat and this video was very helpful on making a pom pom with things you have around your house. I used kitchen paper towel roll cut in have instead of toilet paper rolls cuz I didn't have any at the moment. Thank you for sharing and explaining it so thoroughly. 😍👍👍♥️🌷⚘
I started crocheting a bag at the beginning of this video and was finished before the video was over. Great video though, I make pin poke for my daughter, and I am a man. So I needed this video very badly.
It is a good video and I loved the way you explained everything. My kids are exited to make these pompoms and they have made such beautiful ones watching your as it was my birthday today thank you for what you have done for us
I have been making Pom Poms for years and have used all types of ways and store bought Pom makers and this is the absolute easiest and best way I have come across thank you!
This was a brilliant tutorial, very clearly demonstrated. In no way was it too long or wordy, according to some negative people here. Thankyou for posting.
This is the best tutorial I’ve found! I made my son a beanie and wanted to add a Pom Pom with his college colors. I’m new to crochet and still learning so much. Thank you!
Absolutely AWESOME!! In addition to the toilet paper rolls being pure GENIUS, I especially love 2 other things: the cardboard templates for even trimming... and most of all, the double wrapping to keep the yarn TIGHTLY in place while making the double knot. BRILLIANT!!!! I just recently started working with yarn, to make various kinds of cat toys, and the knotting has been my biggest problem with the pompoms. I need them to be completely safe for our "babies" to play with so they don't pull the yarn pieces out while kicking and tugging at the pompoms. You just made my life a lot easier!!! LOL. Our 9 kitties and I THANK YOU so very very much!!!
And I never thought I could learn great and beautiful things cuz never before knew how to knit or do crochet, but love it ! Even my son learned how to make pom pom, and first time loved it thanks!!!!
Nice video, I'm a 46 year old guy making a baby beanie for my nephew on a circle loom, almost done. I"v got about 6 more months before he's born. My next project! Baby scarf to match the hat
Great tutorial! Thanks 😊 I will get some plastic pipes with different diameters at the hardware store, cut them so I have two pieces of 5-6 inches in length, then get rubber bands to hold the matching pipes together at the ends (after I put the starting string between them) Voila, I can make Pom poms in any size I desire 😁
I think you did a wonderful job in explaining how to make a pom pom. Yes it seems like it takes a lot of yarn but I'm pretty darn sure it's worth it. Plus I would keep the stuffing and use it for either pillow or making some sort of bear crocheting. As for scissors 36 years ago I bought these scissors that has a scissor sharpener, you put it in and out of the case as you do it you sharpen the scissors so yes my scissors are sharp at all times. I'm pretty sure they don't make them anymore or if they do they're very expensive because my was only ten bucks. Thank you once again for your tutorial, have a wonderful day sweetie.
OMG! I love you! It's so hard for me to make them look all round and even, but that "sandwich pompom" idea is BRILLIANT!!! And the doble knot!! THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!
EXCELLENT video!!! So thorough and precisely stated. I enjoyed it immensely and made a pom pom right along with you and I'm thrilled!! My best pom pom yet!!! AND, I've been making them for years. I think I have tried every method out there and yours is the best!! THANK YOU!
You can sharpen your scissors by "cutting" the mouth of a glass jar. It doesn't cut the jar but it sharpens your scissors. I sharpen all my scissors that way.
Thank you for the pom pom tutorial... Very informative! I wanted to make the best pom poms I could for the Poncho that I just crocheted for my Grand Daughter. Thanks so much!!! 💜
I have learn to crochet since the lock down made 5 blankets granny squares. My grand daughter has one, my grandson has one. So then I had a ago at golf club covers, success, but did not no how to do pom poms til now, watching your video. Thank you so much. Never knitted or crochet in my life. So learn 2 things. Happy bunny.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I couldn't understand why my pom-poms were coming out terrible and you have explained everything to me perfectly. I love how up beat you are too! I'm definitely subscribing to your channel, you're amazing!
Yes, she is positive & I enjoy the tone of her voice! I cannot listen to everyone in these videos at times. Its the tone in their voice & it makes such a happy difference to me, bless you dear for being so kind, sweet & amazing!
Tip for trade.. Might i suggest as well.. I have learned the hard way that pom poms loose yarn as time goes by.. So... What i do is take a yarn needle n zig zag through back n forth until i feel it is secure enough.. No one will know and your project lasts longer.. I also keep the trimmings for stuffing in a plastic bag.. I just trim it straight into the bag.. Easy peasy clean up.. **GREAT VIDEO** TY
Thank you for this video🧶. It’s a time saver! I just made two pompoms and took me forever to form the shape! I just used the paper rolls, but not the circles. Next time I’ll be prepare. GREAT IDEA Thank you for you time. 🙏🏻
Best technique I’ve seen. Thanks for a very informative lesson. I’m making some Staci Perry hats and the pompons are great finishers. I also have a disgraceful amount of stashed yarn and I think a Pom rug might be in the making.
Loved the tutorial. I've been wondering why my pom poms never turned out right. It's the final trimming that makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to get started....again. 😀
This is by far the best instructions for making pom poms I have found. They have come out so much nicer than any other. Love 💕 you're instructions and use of every day items. Thank you!
I’m about to make my first one. I’m glad to have found some Pom Pom veterans who use this method. The information about the Pom Pom maker is especially good!
Thank you. This was my first successful attempt at making a Pom Pom. It all relies on the trimming. I never understood that before. Clear instructions and a great guide.
This is something new, I’ve never seen the second disks used for trimming before. I wanted to make a bathroom mat, this video makes it seem more possible.
Very nice! I like how you trimmed with the templates they come out nice and round and even! Just a hint for even more "fluffiness' I use a pet hairbrush..the kind with the wire bristles..to lightly brush the Pom Pom and they come out really fluffy.
Best way I've found to sharpen my scissors is to take a piece of tin foil and fold it a few times. Cut through it a bunch of times! Viola! Sharpened scissors!!!
Am sure they showed me something like this at school in the seventies, however I had forgotten how and all my pom poms were floppy nowadays. Thanks for this it is really good.
Gosh, I haven't made a pompom in years....so I went to You Tube for a refresher on how-to...and I must say, YOUR tutorial was the best!!! Love it! It will be the way I make a big fluffy pompom for the top of a hat for a good friend. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing ! I recently did my first one and it was not perfect. I did not know how to trim it. And now I know ! I am sure my next one will be perfect, thanks to you.😄
I love the idea of templates. I've always had a hard time getting mine to come out nice and round and yours look perfect. More work than most pom tutorials but WAY better and consistent results. Maybe I won't hate making poms anymore! Will definitely give this method a try. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much for this brilliant tutorial.... you've just taught an old girl a great new trick. I love it. And I love the tip for bird's nest lining with leftovers. 💓
Before I made a pom pom i was like, "i can make a pom pom in 30 seconds!" 😂me now.... has unfinished beanies laying around because I refuse to take the time to make pom poms. 😅
This is perfect... I'm going to try this. Another tip that works perfectly is to use long tongs and hold the pompom over a steaming kettle for a min or so... makes them look fluffy.
O M G This is the BEST video on You Tube. I bought a pom pom maker that makes MEH pompoms, but with this method the very first one turned out awesome! Thank you thank you thank you!
Got a huge tub of yarn at yard sale for a buck, going to make pom prom buddies put Google eyes on them! Not a waste of you are using it for something..if you throwing it away then that's a waste. She can make things with these , justice stores sells these type of things for 5$ they are key chains, little kids can put them on their school bags, I'm 53 I have a tye dye one on my purse!
im 58 and i made a red and green one. put a keychain on it , it was so easy to find my keys in my purse .i loved it.and like you said i saved some money.

I will get some plastic pipes with different diameters at the hardware store, cut them so I have two pieces of 5-6 inches in length, then get rubber bands to hold the matching pipes together at the ends (after I put the starting string between them) Voila, I can make Pom poms in any size I desire 😁
love your adaptation! thanks!

Hello how're you doing hope you're safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
OMG! I love you! It's so hard for me to make them look all round and even, but that "sandwich pompom" idea is BRILLIANT!!! And the doble knot!! THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!
Double Knott. It is cute pompoms
EXCELLENT video!!! So thorough and precisely stated. I enjoyed it immensely and made a pom pom right along with you and I'm thrilled!! My best pom pom yet!!! AND, I've been making them for years. I think I have tried every method out there and yours is the best!! THANK YOU!

Wonderful idea! Thank you.
You can sharpen your scissors by "cutting" the mouth of a glass jar. It doesn't cut the jar but it sharpens your scissors. I sharpen all my scissors that way.
I've never heard of that. Thank you
I suggest just buying a well made pair of scissors!
Tysm! It works!
Aluminum. Foil fold it and cut it and it sharpened scissors
Thank you for the pom pom tutorial... Very informative! I wanted to make the best pom poms I could for the Poncho that I just crocheted for my Grand Daughter. Thanks so much!!! 💜
Hello how're you doing today hope you're safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
I have learn to crochet since the lock down made 5 blankets granny squares. My grand daughter has one, my grandson has one. So then I had a ago at golf club covers, success, but did not no how to do pom poms til now, watching your video. Thank you so much. Never knitted or crochet in my life. So learn 2 things.
I love your tip about trimming it in a plastic bag. Thank you.
Thank you for this video🧶. It’s a time saver! I just made two pompoms and took me forever to form the shape! I just used the paper rolls, but not the circles. Next time I’ll be prepare. GREAT IDEA Thank you for you time. 🙏🏻
Hello how're you doing today hope you're safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
Wow! That was so easy! I’m going to teach my nieces how to do this today, thanks for the video xxx
Thank you for making this video! I was struggling with the other tutorials. I’m happy Pom Pom making over here 🧶 God bless you!
I used this tutorial to make two pom poms for child's hats and my pom poms turned out beautiful. Thank you for sharing this tutorial.
Hello how're you doing today hope you're safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
This is by far the best instructions for making pom poms I have found. They have come out so much nicer than any other. Love 💕 you're instructions and use of every day items. Thank you!
So far this has been the best tutorial I’ve seen!
I want you to know that I tried several ways to make pom poms and your way was BY FAR the best
Same here. I have all the different Pom makers, they quite often are duds and fall apart. This method is by far the very best.
Wonderful Pom Pom tutorial! Thank you!!
This is something new, I’ve never seen the second disks used for trimming before. I wanted to make a bathroom mat, this video makes it seem more possible.
Hey how are you doing
الله ينور عليكي 👍
This is the easiest, best way to make a pom pom! Thank you for your video!
Hello how're you doing hope you're safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
Very nice! I like how you trimmed with the templates they come out nice and round and even! Just a hint for even more "fluffiness' I use a pet hairbrush..the kind with the wire bristles..to lightly brush the Pom Pom and they come out really fluffy.

This is the best way I have seen pom poms made. You do a very good job.

Wow worked perfectly!!
I tried it and they look very pretty. Hassel free and saved time. Thank you.

i made my first pompom today using this video. it came out adorable! gracias.
Great video. I have made pompoms for hats but your way us easier and more fluffy so thanks for the lesson.
Best way I've found to sharpen my scissors is to take a piece of tin foil and fold it a few times. Cut through it a bunch of times! Viola! Sharpened scissors!!!
Thank you
Am sure they showed me something like this at school in the seventies, however I had forgotten how and all my pom poms were floppy nowadays. Thanks for this it is really good.

Oh this is great! My first pom was limp and sad looking but now I've seen this tutorial I'm excited to give it another go!!! Thank you so much!
I love the idea of templates. I've always had a hard time getting mine to come out nice and round and yours look perfect. More work than most pom tutorials but WAY better and consistent results. Maybe I won't hate making poms anymore! Will definitely give this method a try. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! Excellent demo/video.
Before I made a pom pom i was like, "i can make a pom pom in 30 seconds!" 😂me now.... has unfinished beanies laying around because I refuse to take the time to make pom poms. 😅
Beanies don't have to have pom poms!

This is perfect... I'm going to try this. Another tip that works perfectly is to use long tongs and hold the pompom over a steaming kettle for a min or so... makes them look fluffy.
Elizabeth C or you can spray them with warm water and stick them in the dryer ... it works like magic!

Awesome video. Very informative. My first time ever to make a GREAT pom pom.
I made the pom poms and they worked out very well! I also made two white ones and stuck them in a bandoo. And I wear it to school every day
