You Tuber, So you're saying the cop was behind the dashcam driver the whole time, watching all these dangerous moments innocent people could've been seriously injured or killed just so he can have more evidence to convict the intoxicated driver? A field sobriety test + the dashcammer's testimony would be plenty evidence. Also, at 5:18, the dashcammer even says the cop is coming up about a mile behind him.
To the Gentleman who dash cam the incident and was able to stay with the vehicle without causing other unsafe acts - Thank You! More than likely you save casualties.

Back in the late 1980's a family that am am friends with were hit head on by a drunk driver in a pickup truck who crossed the center line in a 55 mph zone. In my friends car, the mother was driving, her daughter riding shotgun and the daughters 3 kids,7, 3, and 1 yr old in the back seat. The only one in the car that survived was the 1 yo in a car seat. OK, so this was 30 years ago, and the DUI laws were not no tolerance like they are now, but the drunk only got 5 years for involuntary manslaughter. WTF kind of justice is this?? Just a little over one year for each life he took??? One of them 7 yo and one 3 yo!!! In my opinion driving drunk isn't much different than shooting a gun down a busy street...sooner or later you will hit someone and kill them! BTW, this happened in Michigan!
This is because there were no vehicular homicide laws back then. But us have seen trial results recently where a vehicular homicide resulted in a 1 year stint.
I'm down with mandatory confiscation of whatever vehicle they're driving. If someone that lent it to them has a problem with that, they can change the charge to grand theft auto.
I mean it's not like there's anything super threatening going on to him. He's a healthy distance away from this car. He's just observing a situation. Not like someone is trying to kill him or something.
Any person who bitches someone out for "snitching" probably has a million things that people could snitch on him/her for. Only criminals and bullies use the word "snitch". The people who say that are most likely the first people to snitch when it suits them for their own selfish reasons, rather than this guy who was just trying to save lives, of the driver and other people on the road. All the morons who just be drop kicked into the sea. Get rid of them.

It was an automatic loss of liscense(6 months) , $4500.00 worth of fines, had to attend a safe driving course (another $500.00) and 1 year probation after restoration of liscense($150,00 fee).

I have a notion to second that emotion ! The driver with the camera did the right thing by notifying the authorities about the out of control driver ! He's a hero !
The camera he used wasn't so good so we can't see the details but his eyes weren't behind the camera so he saw everything clearly. The human eye captures higher definition images than most cameras. Around 195 and 295 yeah there are a few.... WAZE, people. WAZE. They like to sit around Trenton and they have a few spots. Common sense driving should keep you out of their hands, slow down where they sit.....

@Rata 4U Versions of snitching, 1) Witnessing a crime you have no gain in and relaying it immediately to law enforcement ( like in the video) 2) The criminal version of snitching, witnessing a crime and using it to gain "good points" with law enforcement (IE:) getting yourself out of a trip to court by snitching about criminal behavior you know is happening or had a part in or about to happen and snitching on others in prison you know are committing offences in prison to get yourself less time in prison. I would like to congratulate John Barrett, for his calm and precise description, and remaining at a safe distance while on the phone with the NJ State Trooper's dispatcher. Good job, you probably saved many lives, and prevented a tragedy.
Excellent work man. Most people refuse to get involved, which is why we have so many of these dangerous drivers on the roads. Thanks for being one of the few who care.
Joeteck its not a negative spin, that's what happened. Believe me, I know he had good intentions but this driver was probably trying to get away from him. Not saying I would've had any better ideas, but chasing a drunk driver is a lose-lose situation.
flip pino, I'd say there isn't much difference in reaction time requirements between the two speeds, besides, 65mph roads are freeways and there's limited opportunity to be cut off. I drive about 500 highway miles a week in NJ, let's say at the higher end of the typical flow speed of traffic, without much issue. And if 80 is a problem for you, please stay out of my passing lane, thx.
Finally, a state trooper caught up with the driver and pulled him over. Joseph Scott, 29, was taken into custody. Inside Scott's vehicle, police found heroin and a syringe. He's facing criminal charges for those, in addition to citations for multiple traffic violations. Attorney information for him wasn't immediately clear.
Got to love it. Criminal charges for drugs, but the whole wrecking havoc, causing damage, crashing into cars and signs, and nearly killing people parts...traffic citations. Glad to see where the state's priorities are.
Reminds me of a time when I tailed a drunk driver, reporting her to the police, she parked up and I stopped her from going any further, she was apprehended by the police and was found to be at least 3 times over the drink drive limit.
I called in on an impaired driver once. They told me to keep following him until the police could get there. The police swooped around me real quick and pulled him over. They asked me to pull over as well and stay a bit back. One of the officers came back to my car and thanked me for getting a known felon, with a warrant out for his arrest, off the road. My young son was in the back seat, super excited about what was going on the entire time. I used that story a few months later to get myself out of a ticket!

Whoa out-of-control wasn't even an exaggeration for once. It says something for interstate design that he could completely spin his car off the road at that speed, then just keep going afterward like nothing happened.
Everyone thinking it took the trooper too long to get there. Do you think there's a cop on every ramp or something? Troopers regionally work the whole state. The reality of it is a 15-20 minute time frame to catch a moving target going 80-100 mph from wherever he started from is pretty damn good.
Thanks for pointing this out. I'm just glad that cop was there pretty quickly, and the druggie didn't try to flee. If you want a cop on every street corner, move to North Korea.
It doesn't take a *TROOPER* to handle a bad situation like this! At least it shouldn't. The ONLY reason he stopped is because he hit a car, then saw the police behind him.

Darn drunks killing ppl and destroying property... All drunk drivers need jail time
Back in the late 1980's a family that am am friends with were hit head on by a drunk driver in a pickup truck who crossed the center line in a 55 mph zone.
And to get rump wrangled while in said jail!
This is because there were no vehicular homicide laws back then. But us have seen trial results recently where a vehicular homicide resulted in a 1 year stint.

Sounds like an average white man to me. TBC, I simply mean he came across as intelligent and polite/respectful....So, again, a white guy.
@@Known2God I tried goat farmin but i kept burying em too deep. Never would sprout.
Bro good on you for stopping that guy! You might have saved a life that day.
agreed! I am an EMT and have seen children with their heads bashed in due to people like him.
Kyle Macfarlane pity it was the drivers.
You must be Aussie.
He didn't or couldn't stop that driver.
He reported it, gave a description of the vehicle & the plate number.
After that, pure voyeuristic endangerment.
Who cares about the driver? Save your concern for his potential victims.
I was behind a jeep driving the same way, a few years back - I didn't see him take-out a sign, but he spent more time on the shoulder than in the lane. I called the HP and reported it right away and called another 6 or 7 times to give them updates. 40 minutes later, I realized no one else cared so I took an exit and went home.
This guy most likely saved many lives by calling this in . Much respect to this man.👍🚔
Ridiculous! I was behind a drunk driver drinking a 40oz on the freeway from Mohave desert. I called 911 with highway patrol. After 50 miles. I gave up.
But you go 76mph and there right there lighting you up
djgynee “AND THEY’RE RIGHT THERE” 👍🏻🙂
I highly doubt you've been pulled over more than like 2% of the times you've gone over the speed limit.
djgynee try the one time I decide to go flat out 110 in a 55 in literally middle of no where and guess what 70,80,90,100,110-friend- that’s a cop me-oh shit welp
I've had officers from the Dallas Sheriff's Dept. accelerate behind me like they're about to rear-end my vehicle, then tailgate me as closely as possible to try to get me to speed up while in a construction zone. Fk those crooked sociopaths.
Stephen Malturin happens in New Jersey all the time too, those guys are jerks
"I'm in a red Kia Optima" followed by *8 seconds of silence*
And never tells them that the car they are looking for is blue.
@@davideats9255 Yes he does - he tells them the suspect's license plate is ******** and is driving a Blue Toyota.
What's your point?
Well? What if he had said he was in a Barney purple Yugo?
Impossible, the speeds reach 80mph. @@richardskola6982
Trixiegirl88 besides they were all at the donut shop
It doesn't take a *TROOPER* to handle a bad situation like this! At least it shouldn't. ANY police officer near any of the On-ramps should have been on the job.. regardless of what you might think, and yes I would know my Uncle was a state trooper, it's a necessary call to make to any and ALL police OF ANY SORT that happens to be close. This was a travesty and sad display by the dispatcher.
Trixiegirl88 cop on every ramp in uk !!
Trixiegirl88 guarantee if i was going 12mph over there would be a trooper on every ramp
Wow! The guy who captured the video with commentary is beast!
Best, even!
I didn't like how every time he hit the dirt he was like "HE OF OFF THE ROAD AHHHHHH" chill out bro
2:15 at least he used his blinker. Thats better than 90% of the other drivers in NJ
NJ: The Garbage State.
Sorry stupid I 195 does not run through Jersey.
@@Mrdilla56 uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... are you joking?
@@paintball130 No I am not. I'm from Jersey.
Facts
I've done this a few times ... calling in a drunk driver. In every case there were no cops to be found and after several miles the drunk dude just took an exit and that was the end of it.
