Exactly, some of them looked very soft. I mean accelerating slightly harder or going slightly above speed limit in an motorway or empty road, I mean we are clutching on straws here.
Commodores are an increasingly endangered species, they keep getting crashed by hoons & some models are automatic write-offs with insurance companies, due to a lack of spare parts.
They can be, as most of the lights at intersections are programmed to maximise the movement of vehicles through the intersection. doing a u-turn can interfere with other traffic that has been given a green arrow. As an example, think of large motorway off ramps, where you get the 2 right turns off the overpassing street getting green arrows together, allowing them to enter the motorway. At the same time, those leaving the motorway and entering that cross street both get green left arrows. Many times these are multiple lanes too. If one of the right arrows was to do a u-turn, they would collide with those coming off the motorway who have a green left arrow.

As a Victorian, I don’t understand the no u-turns law in NSW, are they really an issue?
They can be, as most of the lights at intersections are programmed to maximise the movement of vehicles through the intersection. doing a u-turn can interfere with other traffic that has been given a green arrow. As an example, think of large motorway off ramps, where you get the 2 right turns off the overpassing street getting green arrows together, allowing them to enter the motorway. At the same time, those leaving the motorway and entering that cross street both get green left arrows. Many times these are multiple lanes too. If one of the right arrows was to do a u-turn, they would collide with those coming off the motorway who have a green left arrow.
As a New South Welshchickie, I don't understand the u-turn law in Victoria 😂❤
@@grooviechickie It's pretty easy in Victoria. Chuck a U-turn at _any_ intersection, as long as its not signposted that you can't, and you have to give way to everyone else.

At the risk of sounding ignorant of the road rules; why was 10:15 an illegal U-turn? It is not at a traffic light, there was no 'No U-Turn' sign, there are no solid lines on the road being crossed.
i was under the impression u-turns are illegal at most places unless there is a u turn permitted sign but i have no idea?? i do that sort of thing heaps 🤣😅😅
Answering my own question, perhaps the road was considered a highway or freeway. With no on-coming vehicles it appeared a safe maneuver. I'm all for enforcement of unsafe or illegal actions but hopefully that vehicle got a warning and not a ticket.
@@mitchellstyles96 At least in NSW that is not the case. @@EvilOdysseus Should be clarified that in NSW, it's illegal to do a U-turn by default at most intersections.
@@EvilOdysseus Why is it an illegal u turn? They have a green arrow.
U-turn, I guess.
The reason it’s illegal in NSW, it’s because that guy doing the u-turn could have collided with someone turning left out of that side road, who would have a green left arrow at the same time. It’s the way our lights are programmed. It gets more cars through the intersection at each cycle.

Tis a rolla.
New driver here. Aren't both leftmost and rightmost lanes called emergency lanes? And Yaris gave way to the cop car, how's that wrong? Going left would've been better choice but aren't vehicles supposed to move away from traffic lanes when a vehicle with lights is coming up while middle lane can remain in middle or if the emergency vehicle is in middle lane the middle lane traffic can chose any side to turn into to give way.
@@gurugulab1414The Corolla was failing to keep left unless overtaking which is a road law. Even when the cop was screaming up behind him, they didn’t move into the middle lane, which they should have done earlier since they’re clearly not overtaking anyone. Bumbling along in the right hand (overtaking) lane is against the law.
@@gurugulab1414 Couple things to consider mate, 1. As you mentioned it is an emergency lane, however giving way to a police care wouldn't constitute use of it one on its own. 2. The left lane was clear for him to merge to give way to the police car and he should have made use of the open and clear road space to do so. 3. You never should merge onto an emergency lane for any reason other than coming to a stop. If someone was stopped for an emergency up ahead and old mate in the Yaris was too busy focusing on the cop car and giving way to it he could have easily collected this theoretical person. @@andjelkojovanovic2852 The speedometer on your dash is designed to read high. There are very strict laws and severe punishments for car manufacturers if a speedo reads low, i.e. if you're going faster than it says. So, the manufacturers build in a buffer, just in case it's a bit off. This is typically 5-10%, i.e. when it says you're going 60km/h, you're really going 54-57km/h.
