Everyone is asking how Peach ever gets kidnapped. But I think this just explains why Bowser is so busy he can't fight Mario until the end. They're busy duelling while Mario is tackling the lackeys.
I just finished playing that AA game for the first time, so while everyone else is calling her “Persona 5 Peach/Phantom Thief Peach”, I CANNOT stop thinking of her as “Mask ⭐️DeMasque Peach”
I'm about a half hour into the video, and I must say that I love it. This really feels like a game that the people working on it wanted to make, and that they put heart and care into. Peach looks fabulous, in her different costumes, and just in her different dresses. I think you're right about the Smash Brothers team having to put more stuff into Peach's move set. I've never seen a game with her at the center (I know they exist, but I've never interacted with any of them) and this is just wonderful, I feel like it adds a lot to her character. Plus, this whole game just looks gorgeous. Thank you, of course, for streaming this, and to Chloe for editing it. Not the longest video you have, but still must have taken a lot of work. (also, the person who told you to stop using "cooking" like that around the fourteen minute mark, the fact that their name is puns_and_anxiety feels both ironic and fitting.)
See you're correct that games focusing Peach existed already (or at least, the one game) but it just...isn't something you really would want to extrapolate from because it revolves around Peach using wild emotional shifts to solve puzzles, and while the point is *ostensibly* "Bowser stole the magical vibe wand so no one has control over their emotions but Peach" it just comes off as a very shallow mechanic. The magical girl transformations have a lot more potential for interesting depth and are just more fun to begin with, and I'm kinda surprised that it took this long to make a game like that
fr!! its especially annoying/embarrassing coming from men who jumped at mario wonder and new kirby games ... like cmon! this is no different! but having a Girl is just Too Much ...
@@matthewlarson738 naah, the game's not full of smarmy dialogue, shallow pop-culture references, and abundant microtransactions. This game isn't made for kids.
Everyone who is like "where is all this when Peach gets kidnapped?!" seem to forget that this is all the power of the theater and that she didn't have it before... In fact, this might be similar to how in the movie Peach by herself was competent, but needed items or weapons in order to actually fight Bowser (also, he probably take Toads hostages constantly too).
He did explicitly deal with the Toads in the original Super Mario Bros, and not just by capturing them: he turned them into the floating blocks and background plants spread throughout the game, according to the instruction booklet. I don't know if that applies to any of the following games, though.
@@55alegria They actually hadn't written him to have a crush on Peach yet. The actual reason he first kidnapped her, according to that same booklet iirc, was because she was the only person who could break the spell that turned everyone into blocks.
I’m glad they managed to correct the flaws of Super Princess Peach without just making it “oh she can’t be feminine.” This game is incredibly well made
It feels like Nintendo is finally taking full advantage of what Peach could be as an icon for girls in gaming I don’t hold the kidnapping against them since it’s way more a tradition than anything at this point, like how Link is still silent, but there’s a lot of potential for Peach to headline more stuff. Heck if anyone could compete with Disney Princesses, it’d be Nintendo Princesses
“What kind of Shakespearean play do you think Toad would enjoy the most?” I imagine Toad is into the super gross revenge stuff. He regularly watches Titus Andronicus.
I've heard someone describe this game as "Balan Wonderland but good" Which isn't a very high bar, since a score of even just 1 is infinitely higher than 0.
38:28 I'm convinced that every Mario game is just Mario and friends from around the world LARPing. I mean think about it: because of the one-up mushrooms of the Mushroom Kingdom, death is no longer an issue, so they can have absolutely CRAZY adventures using all the magics of the world. Thing is, what does that mean Bowser does? Well, he's the Game Master or Dungeon Master, who sets up these vast quests across distant lands full of minigames and power ups and puzzles, with the key always in reach and no enemy unbeatable. And sure, he plays the villain, he 'Captures' princess peach, but at the end of the week, they still go gokarting together, they still have fun on their massive magical board game parties. Sure, he's a bit crass and antisocial, but he's still their friend.
I assume that the whole Bowser kidnapping thing either really is just routine, or Peach gets taken by surprise and is unable to defend herself. At almost any and every opportunity, its demonstrated that Peach is not weak and is in fact very competent.
I don't really think peach help fund the play, cause its from another kingdom. Princess Peach is only sanctioned in the Mushroom Kingdom and according to the mario universe, there are other kingdoms that have full royal leaders. She was actually invited to the play from another kingdom which is populated with Theets.

Has Bowser ever been kidnapped? Who saves him?
Everyone is asking how Peach ever gets kidnapped. But I think this just explains why Bowser is so busy he can't fight Mario until the end. They're busy duelling while Mario is tackling the lackeys.
24:14 Oh no! Mask🌟DeMasque strikes again!

The funny thing is that Peach is capable with magic and with some hand-to-hand combat. This is too weird for Princess Peach?
Why would anyone complain about a game made for kids because it's feminine?
@@matthewlarson738 naah, the game's not full of smarmy dialogue, shallow pop-culture references, and abundant microtransactions. This game isn't made for kids.
@@sponge1234ify You sound like one of those "a minor beat me up in high school" people.
@@Dinoman972 see? He took her people hostage and probably was like "I'll return them back to normal if you marry me"
@@55alegria They actually hadn't written him to have a crush on Peach yet. The actual reason he first kidnapped her, according to that same booklet iirc, was because she was the only person who could break the spell that turned everyone into blocks.
@@Dinoman972 oh ok
my personal take is that peach and bowser are running a racket together and she's his beard
I’m glad they managed to correct the flaws of Super Princess Peach without just making it “oh she can’t be feminine.” This game is incredibly well made
they corrected by making her Nintendo Barbie and tbh, I'm all for it
It feels like Nintendo is finally taking full advantage of what Peach could be as an icon for girls in gaming
I don’t hold the kidnapping against them since it’s way more a tradition than anything at this point, like how Link is still silent, but there’s a lot of potential for Peach to headline more stuff. Heck if anyone could compete with Disney Princesses, it’d be Nintendo Princesses
That toad who got the crown can finally become the real princess toadstool!
“What kind of Shakespearean play do you think Toad would enjoy the most?”
I imagine Toad is into the super gross revenge stuff. He regularly watches Titus Andronicus.
There is what some Royalty does to be a patron of the arts, and then there is Peach. Her method is more violent.
I've heard someone describe this game as "Balan Wonderland but good"
Which isn't a very high bar, since a score of even just 1 is infinitely higher than 0.
On the other hand, a realized version of a high-concept, badly executed game is always a bonus.
I hate to be that person, but it's actually balan wonderworld, not wonderland for absolutely no reason except spite, I'm pretty sure.

Did not expect this to end with peach using a kamehameha but at least it didn't end telling kids to look for their mother's vibe wand like last time
38:28 I'm convinced that every Mario game is just Mario and friends from around the world LARPing.

You'll join us soon, my friend.
