This game gets alarmingly dark and Kirby lore is terrifying. But we've worked hard regardless to condense my entire playthrough of the game into a single video! This took a huge amount of work from myself and my editor Cloé, and I hope yous enjoy it. You can watch more long playthroughs of games videos we've made here: ruclips.net/video/O0o8_SE_U98/видео.html
The entire game is technically an isekai. The main character wakes up in a new world at the beginning. But only at the end of the main story does someone end up getting hit by a truck.
@@TornaitSuperBird Just goes to show how strong the final boss was, so powerful that even someone as powerful as Kirby needed the infinite power of truck-kun
Kirby is literally "what if a cosmic horror likes sweets, naptime, and friendship" and I love that. Kirby sees some truly messed up stuff and is like "lol ok" and is only ever visibly upset when his snacks or his friends are taken away. It so cute.
the pause menu description for the other Kirby boss, void termina who seems to be the polar opposite of kirby honestly captures the vibe well "The final battle at hand, Void takes his first steps toward a new age. In place of tyrannical rage, will he find... naptime? Gentle breezes? Treats? He may even dream again... a dream of friends reunited!"
You need to understand that somehow "Kirby Overthows Dictator Monarch to Liberate Starving Population", the plot of the first game, is the tamest Kirby has ever been
Friendly reminder that Fecto Elfilis is so ungodly strong that even when physically falling apart due to losing Elfilin, it had the strength to *wrest a massive planet from its orbit and hurl it towards another one, AFTER HAVING OPENED A PORTAL BIG ENOUGH FOR PLANET POPSTAR TO FIT THROUGH.* And the original inhabitants of the Forgotten Land *beat* this thing and *contained it.* Kirby lore is unhinged.
I love how in the other Kirby games, the last power is like “Kirby becomes a black hole” or “Kirby uses the power of friendship and also the entire galaxy” but this one it’s just “Kirby becomes a fucking 18 wheeler lmao”
I mean, iirc in "Call of Cthulhu" they kill it by ramming a ship hull into it and impaling it, so it checks out. (If you've seen the Disney version of The Little Mermaid, this is the same way Ursula goes out).
"You shouldn't have upset the Space-time Continuum, Kirby." No, Daniel, you have that backwards. _The Space-time Continuum shouldn't have upset Kirby._ "It's just a butterfly, right?" I AM CACKLING THIS IS SO MUCH FUN-
what's ironic is, despite Dan's disbelief of Kirby canon going from adorable fighting to metaphysical god fights of depressing existential calamity, he was so close to effectively summarizing the entire series with that line of "you shouldn't have upset the space-time continuum, Kirby"
Me: Seeing that happen to Galacta Knight in Kirby Star Allies is perfectly accurate. (Doing Guest Star with King Dedede after doing one with Blade Knight was not fun at all.) Daniel (Elfilin): It's just a butterfly. Dan (Bandanna Waddle Dee): What are you scared about? Morpho Knight? Rockman Zero Modern Day (Kirby): Oh my sweet summer childs, that butterfly has caused more damage than some of the gods in this game.
Kirby fans back then: Aw, a butterfly’s on Kirby’s head, that’s cute Kirby fans now: NO NO NO NO NO NO GOD NO KILL IT WITH FIRE BURN IT CRUSH IT NO NO NO
The “RTGame plays a game that seems cute at first but actually has incredibly terrifying lore” trilogy consists of: -Turnip Boy: Commits Tax Evasion -Bugsnax -Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Turnip Boy is the first hit that was just really straightforward with its premise Bugsnax was the sequel that went for the subtle and serious route. And Kirby was the trilogy ender that just had to go all the way because it was expected at this point but they still somehow defied expectations by having the final boss be killed by a semi truck for no reason.

This game teaches us a valuable lesson, which is, no matter how much of an ultimate life form unkillable God you are, you're never safe from vehicular manslaughter.
@@ConnorLinley Well most of what I'm about to tell you is just a theory but Sakurai (Kirby's creator) approves of that theory. So the creator of the series says that this is true but Nintendo doesn't cause, you know, they still market Kirby as a kid's game. Anyway, basically, every god in the series (including Kirby) are just part of an Elder Chaos God who died a long time ago and had his soul split into many pieces. Every part of his soul then started to take on new forms, abilities and emotions depending on the place where they ended up. Since Kirby ended up in Popstar, pretty much the happiest and cutest planet in their universe, he ended up becoming a cute, happy and nice Chaos god. But almost every other part of the Chaos God's soul ended up becoming evil and they all find and attack Kirby simply because they want to be whole again, to absorb the part of the Elder God's soul that's in Kirby.
@@giantWario when has Sakurai ever approved anything of modern kirby? He hasn’t directed a kirby game or been involved at all since air ride. I think you mean shinya kumazaki
I love how you can tell RT hasn't played much or any Kirby because of his abject horror reacting to Kirby inhaling enemies. Kirby fans have just grown to not question his vore-based powers.
1:29:37 Fun Fact; this track is titled "Two planets approach the roche limit". the Roche Limit, is the proximity a mass can be in orbit of a larger mass before it is torn apart into a ring; for example, Saturn's rings are rings and nit a moon because they are within the roche limit of saturn, and so the gravity conflicting with the orbit tear any rocks too large apart, leaving the small rocks of saturn's rings. Two planets the size of earth in orbit of each other are DEFINITELY in each other's roche limit. Fecto Elfilis is RIPPING EARTH AND POPSTAR APART
I loved it when Kirby was the lone survivor at the start of SSBU's story mode. Of all the creatures to survive unimaginable horrors, of course it'd be Kirby!
@@nativechatter999 there were three characters Sakurai claimed could have survived. Palutena, a literal god, Bayonetta, a god killer who can stop time, and Kirby, who is both.

i remember getting the alert for this, saw "the kirby game where you kill a god" or something like that, and thought "do you have even the slightest idea how little that narrows it down"
Yeah, I remarked in some video somewhere I think on a video about the final boss ost, something like "Oh phew, it's just a god. Time to put in my shift."
1:44:50 Not gunna lie, I *adore* that little bit of animation there. Seeing Leon just stare at him initially almost menacingly, then curiously following him, then that really subtle little blink as his head starts bobbing right before he joins in? They didn't *have* to add every little detail in those steps, they could've just shortcut him from skeptical to funny, but they really committed to the small things and made that five second sequence incredibly endearing. 🥺
I love that Kirby games have 2 kinds of players, people who know what a clusterfuck the lore is and people who don't. Like I think we were genuinely surprised when Elfilis *didn't* turn out to be an outright eldritch god with nefarious intent. Fair he was half of one but still
I think Nintendo had to make elfilis not betray us because after like, 2 betrayals in a row it starts to lose its impact. But now that elfilis didnt betray us, that counter is effectively reset, and we're free to get marx the trilogy
@@heheheiamasuperstarwarrior9281 But it wasn't two betrayals in a row? And Magolor was ages ago. And while I find it hilarious, the whole betrayal thing is quite exaggerated since Kirby only gets the betrayal thing twice out of a whole host of friends/allies.
I love how everyone was suspicious of Elfilin at first, making the payoff of them being genuinely good the whole time and seemingly sacrificing themselves for the sake of popstar all the more painful.
I have something that I would like to call “The duality of Dan”. On one hand you have Dan/RTGame who knows NOTHING about Kirby and is horrified by the realization that it is NOT just cute and pink. On the other hand you have Daniel/Failboat who knows Kirby lore and is on edge at every single supposedly cute thing. BOTH however, we’re absolutely terrified at the absolute lovecraftian horror of a final boss. Beautiful
Literally my first reaction when seeing the fucking butterfly fly in. The fact that a single red and yellow butterfly can fill a Kirby fan with enough fear, excitement, and depression to fuel the earth 10x over shows that this series is not for the faint of heart.
From the Kirby Wiki: "This particular butterfly is a 'butterfly of paradise' that has the ability to cross dimensions, and has arrived in the present time from another dimension after something has 'ceased to be.' The butterfly is also heavily implied to be a divine being of judgement." Yeah, seems about right for Kirby lore.
Jokes aside, this game has some really touching story moments. Like Dedede sacrificing himself for one of his Waddle Dees, showing he acts like a parent to them. Or Elf closing the vortex where Kirby almost feels like he won’t see Elf again before a light appears behind him. It’s touching, for a game about cake and nap time.
Remember the game where a man recovered a giant ancient wish-granting machine that was also a star in order to get his daughter back but got his memories sapped by said machine so he started a company to mechanize every planet he came across and couldn’t even recognize that his daughter was his own secretary
I love how, only 5 minutes into this video, RT is IMMEDIATELY thrown down the rabbit hole that is Kirby lore; it really shows how much of an influence the Kirby Franchise's story has had Edit: Now that I've finished watching this video, I can say that I loved seeing RT's reactions to the stuff with Fecto Forgo; people love to joke about the horrors of the Kirby Franchise, but jokes aside, the dark aspects are incredibly captivating I'm also just glad that Daniel enjoyed the game throughout this entire video, I think that Forgotten Land is a MUST-play for Switch owners, honestly
Dan. You have to play the other games in the series. You need to see the death cult. The alien jester ripping himself in two. The bleeding eyes of the 90s.
The queen who was driven insane. The robot who according to the lore gets his entire memory destroyed. Literal Satan in the last game. Kirby lore is fucked. And it never ends.
I love how the Waddle Dees have gone from enemies in the 90s, to “yeah, they’re kind of cute, but we’re just giving you Bandanna Dee” in the 2000’s/2010’s, to WE HAVE TO SAVE THE WADDLE DEES THEY’RE SO ADORABLE WE MUST PROTECT THEM AT ALL COSTS in the 2020’s.

So far, it's been shown consuming both Galacta Knight and the soul of Forgotten Lands final boss. What it wants and what it's end goals are remain unknown. Kirby's lore is soooo fun because it's 95% cute fun for 4 year olds and above and 5% lovecraftian horror and existential dread. Like Kirby is the good incarnation of dark matter that is either good or bad depending on the dominant feelings of the universe and one of his best friend is the bad incarnation of the same god but he's too dumb to be evil.
My boss told me his wife is playing this with their son and was talking about how cute it is and I cannot WAIT for the family to discover eldritch horror kirby
It's not canon but I remember seeing a comic type thing showing an idea of Gooey's origin, and it just had Dark Matter utterly disgusted with Gooey's existence due to him having his own will and Gooey was completely terrified of the DM he came from
In Dan's defense, I'm pretty familiar with Kirby lore and even I was completely caught off guard by the fear inducing escalation despite fully expecting it.
One of my favorite lore things about this game is that humanity didn't actually die out. They just left. They figured out how to go to other worlds and decided they all wanted to do that. After that, well... who can say for sure?
@@invertebradomind you that leongar was under control, so anything he said was likely quoted from fecto forgo itself, forgo has no reason to lie to kirby and it's intent seems to chase the old habitants through dreamland.
No, that's not humanity, we covered them already. Their dubious fate lies in Shiver Star in Kirby 64, which is literally Earth. Like, there's no tilting your head and squinting, that thing is literally Earth covered in snow and ice. It also lies with Samus from Metroid appearing in Kirby's Dream Land 3 in the most impossible-to-dismiss-as-non-canon way possible: by making interacting with her and the Metroid elements present in the stage _literally unavoidable for the true ending._ This has... implications.
I would too if a pink puffball danced on my grave and then apparently errored out (although to be fair, most of the bosses/minibosses explode when they get defeated so they don't usually get to stick around that long)
I love that the Kirby games always show this darker world through Kirby's limited perspective. It's evident a lot of very dark stuff is happening out there, but Kirby is only seeing little bits and pieces of it every time. These eldritch horrors are having their very souls ripped out and purged by a little pink blorbo because they mildly inconvenienced them, and then there's no further investigation - Kirby simply goes back to bed while the dark machinations of dead empires and primordial beings continue to do their evil work.
@@thenerfkid9228 now I imagine someone having the job of "Kirby Observer" in a Bad Guy Group, their entire job is to make sure that their evil plot isn't inconvenient to Kirbo
Kirby as a series is about having the darkest, edgiest, horrifying Villians and concepts with some surprisingly deep lore and connections get beat up by a pink marshmallow orb of happiness.
@@aymuhspunj Considering that Star Allies has made Kirby essentially the God of Friendship in his universe, I'd say it's gone a bit beyond the logical extreme at this point and has started branching into illogical extremes. Which, of course, is par for the course for Kirby.
It's like the inverse of nihilism. Hope and happiness are coming, you cannot stop it. No matter how deep despair is, no matter how dark things get, no matter how much control the darkest and evil forces bring entropy onto all creation. This cute little puffball will come, you cannot flee, you cannot fight, joy will win and you can either give up and embrace the '"POYO!" or face annihilation.
The best thing about the Kirby Series is that HAL Developers truly care about Kirby. Something I want to point out is the recording in the lab is how it mentions “it laid the groundwork for the teleport tech we enjoy TODAY” meaning that recording is old meaning the 30 year time stamp it sates later is outdated (it only says it as a reference to being Kirby’s 30th anniversary) meaning that Fecto forgo/elffilis probably has been there for centuries this would support that the people who left to dreamland were the ancients and this is their original home world
Or the talking lion isn't speaking literally. He said they left for a land of dreams, not Dreamland. Maybe they went to space, fulfilling a longstanding dream/desire. Or to a new dimension entirely, or ascended to a higher plane, or heck, maybe all of society's greatest dream was to simply kill themselves. This is my problem with most "lore" channels: you can't just jump on the interpretation you want; you have to consider all of them.

If you’re wondering what in the world Morpho Knight is, I think they seem to be something like a Grim Reaper-Esque figure within the world of Kirby, as the characters they go after are ones that refuse to stay dead, like Galacta Knight and Fecto Elfilis. A potential reason for why they fight Kirby is that his friends also tend to be people that are either alive when they shouldn’t be or are one half of the entity they consumed. Thus, they go after his friends and naturally he’s not going to stand for that, hence the Morpho Knight boss battles.

Since Kirby ended up in Popstar, pretty much the happiest and cutest planet in their universe, he ended up becoming a cute, happy and nice Chaos god.

-The leader of the skull troop with a staff so powerfull it divided kirby in 10
-A cute friend that turned to foe when given the Master Crown, a crown of inmense power guarded by Landia, the four-headed dragon.
-A queen who once was calm and friendly, turned mad by a dark mirror, in seek of inmortality betrayed her only "friend" merging herself with the great flower, her power inmense, but when defeated, a fraction of her sould trapped and later made even more powerful.
-Another witch that turned the entire world into her clay art
-An artificial inteligence that was supposed to bring wishes to people, but when it evaluated all lifeforms it found them imperfect, so his mission was now to destroy every life-form to bring peace
- The world destroyer reencarnated, in which his final form resembles kirby, a chaotic unstoppable being.

A potential reason for why they fight Kirby is that his friends also tend to be people that are either alive when they shouldn’t be or are one half of the entity they consumed. Thus, they go after his friends and naturally he’s not going to stand for that, hence the Morpho Knight boss battles.
