A bit of a new way to go for Nightwish, with the children choir, having as much singing time as Floor almost i belive, Floor is doing some fast phrasing here to, something like she does in the song Shoemaker, kind off i think. The Ill starred kids of your junkyard thats us humans right, People today are getting told all kind of doomsday things, AI and war will end the world, but this song says, the end is fear, its not near, armagedon aint coming tommrow, so life your life, hide the unshot guns doomsday predictors tell is gonna blast. Also notice that Floor joins the kids choir at end and connect that to her charecter she is in video, she realize something during video, Toumas said so in a interview i watched.. I didnt read the book 1984 written by George Orwell, but the song got reference to that book i belive. At first listen i needed another listen, at 3th listen the song got me, and i started like the children choir, i actually think its a pretty good song, and something not heard like this from NW before, now i listened to the song many times! This is not a Empuu shine song, there is heavy guitar rhytm in the middle section and end, but not the big Empuu solo, but i also think this song dosent need it, because the Children choir takes spotlight instead,.. The title the day off.. is missing telling what its the day off, so i think this is where you can put in the optimistic view of the song, as a listener, if you like to, and hear the song that way, the listener decide what its the day off. The original idea was this one to be 1st single, but then Tuomas decided it should be Perfume of the timelees, and this 2nd.
Thanks, love you're reaction. This song is one of my favorites, so many good small sounds from Nightwish early days, Emppus good old quitar riffs, we heard back then. Floor is an amazing storyteller. They are falling out of the fear matrix that we are trapped in ..so good.

It’s about the fear mongers of all times trying to manipulate the people to do what they want. In the thirty years I teach there are always pupils asking me if there’s going to be a war or if the world will end. I’ve always assured them it will get by, but it hit me every time to see their fear. So this song is wonderful to enlighten them they are being manipulated.
Phenomenal song, love Floors rather deep voice here, it supports the meaning of the lyrics so well. Also the levels of reverb and delay on her voice is near to not present. Also, did you realize, that this song is mostly just drums and bass, supported with more sound effects than keys. Very well mixed / mastered and produced! Only Nightwish can deliver such an full-sounding (mostly drum & bass) song. Hard to find one that comes at least near to this. One negative side effect: You need a really good sound reproduction system to catch all of the very deep bass and vocals in full glory. Nothing for the mobile-with-cheap-earpod-generation ;-) Side note: Something went wrong with the sound of this first upload. Nightwish corrected it afterwards in their official video.

If you like this song and the direction that Nightwish has taken since Human Nature good for you and God bless. I don’t. I hated Human Nature. It was the worst album of their career and yes I’ve heard all of them. This song could have easily been on that album as a leftover. The first thing I miss in this song (and most of Human Nature) is Emmpu. Did he have the day off? Did anyone bother to check if his guitar was plugged in? Nightwish seems to have forgotten they are a Hard Rock/Power Metal band and a guitar is essential. Second thought is boy is Marko Hietala missed. Imagine his voice teamed with Floor again. I miss the Endless Forms Most Beautiful Nightwish. This effort is pale in comparison. Sad!
As much as I loved "perfume Of The Timeless" - both musically and visually - I was jazzed to see another release. Wow...what a letdown. I give it 2.5 stars out of 10. Sorry.

I love Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation. Love how each one evolved. These three are so different then when they started. I love and respect that. It is like I look at myself continuously chancing due to life experiences etc. It is they are growing and I'm growing alongside with them with my own life.
i love the 80s style beat at the start, and floor sounds good but ill be honest i don't like the choir it takes me out the song completely, and the song has decent build up that doesnt go anywhere, i really wish the kid choir was not there and we can more powerful parts of floor, the whole song has this build up to nothing..
In the past, both Marko and Floor had some input in the final phase. With Marko gone and Floor otherwise occupied, this is what you get when the "Metal Mozart" is left to his own devices.
Didn't fall for it (or the other one), cuz this is just plain boring. Fortunately, Floor has started pushing back a bit (read her Aug/Sept Aardschok interview about missing Marko, overusing a mediocre vocalist like Troy and the touring hiatus). Hope she leaves the Metal Mozart to his devices after their 30th anniversary.
Floor not gonna leave Nightwish ,she like new album,for many of you who do not understand Nightwish evolved, so you just have 2 choices,one accept new style of Nightwish or just liesten old staff

Hard stuff from Nightwish; a song that I have to listen to 3 - 4 times to be able to enjoy it.
