Once again impressed with Tuomas' lyrics and even more so with Floor's ability to sing them, because boy do they make a complicated vocal line 🤣 Loved the song, my excitement for the album keeps growing!
The feeling of falling throughout the entire film makes me uncomfortable, and I love it. It fits the music so well! I absolutely fell in love with it, you have deeply affected me with this one. Well done Nightwish, Stobe and Khimo 😘
I'm glad to say the song has grown on me, it has lots of Song of Myself and Scaretale vibes, I picture it in my head like an eerie puppet show or a dark carnival made of AI characters (Tim Burton, or Neil Gaiman's Coraline style) but it will probably be a red version of Matrix (sorry but that's what my mind instantly went to) mixed with the somber world displayed in Noise video
Great song. Great message. Tuomas has always expressed himself and the world around him so beautifully through his music. Thank you for sharing it with the world.

Thank you, again, Nightwish. Also, my impressions from this single, are that it was meant to be a single; and I believe that the contract with the producer must include short length songs. So my take is that Tuomas is taking this "opportunity" to share a message to the world. It reminds me of "Noise", and it was also a single, and also short length. :)

Wow, love how this song has a fresh feel but still has that unmistakable Nightwish sound. They’ve managed to evolve while staying true to what makes them great, and the music video is a masterpiece, perfectly complementing the song’s powerful vibe. ❤
First off I really like this song and its new sound, I love it when they do something new and also try different ways of doing the verses (also great pronunciation by Floor). And as always the lyrics are absolutely brilliant. I also have to say that having the children's choir sing the refrain is a great idea and for those who complain about this, it literally says "We are the ill-starred kids...". The only thing I would have liked them to do more with is the part after the amazing instrumental part. It's such a nice build-up just to immediately slow down again and start with another verse? I know they can do much better. I usually like how they play with qieter/silent moments but I think it doesn't fit at this point of the song. I have to agree with others when saying that Floor's voice is not used to its full potential. I adore her operatic head voice, which I've missed in the latest albums, and I think they could have done something a bit more dramatic after that instrumental part with her voice and maybe some dark violins so it feels more dramatic. But the ending of the song is very well done and sounds very cool. I'm looking forward to the rest of the album!
I'll admit I've watched this when I'm high, and omg every sentence makes sense, the song is amazing, whole video speaks words. Wonderful tune. We are....? Let's exist. ❤️
I have to admit, I really had to sit with the song and after many listens, I was coming to the conclusion that it was one of those extremely rare occasions where I simply didn't like the song but seeing it together with the video music it clicked - I get it and I think together they tell an incredible story. Incredible cinematography and thank you, Nightwish, for another masterpiece 🖤
Exactly the same feeling about the song. Not what I expected, but Nightwish music style evolved. Everyone is evolving, regardless of our expectations. Still trying to figure out how I feel about it, because it's not what I used to listen.
@doriantheelf8242 what a wild ride this band is taking us on, huh? I don't think this song will be in my top favorites but at least with the visuals I now understand it better and I think it's a beautiful piece. Here's to evolution and the wild ride

The lyrics are very deep layered and remind me of personal things and the whole cultural and sociocultural development of the last years. I agree. Thank you to Nightwish and greetings to 1984!
High praise for the risk taking in this track. I love how far from your standards it is while still feeling quite Nightwish at some point. The song confused me at the first listening but slowly starts to grow deeply. And I love how the aesthetics makes it a right succesor to Noise. Looking forward to September, 20th

Always funny to see people comment “it doesn’t sound like the old …”. What do people expect? Do they expect artists to keep making the same album over and over again? It’s like asking Leonardo da Vinci to always paint the same painting, just with slightly different colours.

Hear Jukka groove on that bass btw!! It's even danceable. 😎 My fav part of the song is from 1:14 to 1:19. I really like Floor's vocallines on that part and the way it sounds and then continue singing and hear Jukka groove again.😄
once gain, people, you don't disappoint, you never fail to put a smile on my face, with the music and fantastic musicianship/singing. Another masterpiece. The video is amazing too.
Took me a moment to get into this one on first listen, but it’s rapidly growing on me. There’s something deeply intriguing about this song that I can’t quite put my finger on, and it makes me want to go back and listen to it a dozen more times just so I can absorb what’s happening musically and what is being said lyrically. Like, there’s some serious depth to this one and I’m not quite getting it yet, but I want to understand it. I suspect this one’s gonna be a banger if they ever do it live, that bridge section is phenomenal. - 2nd watch, I am really digging this song, and I’m deeply disturbed by it. There’s something here that’s just giving me dread and I can’t quite put my finger on it yet. The combination of the music and the video images is really something, they do such good music videos these days. I think I’m starting to understand it more, I feel like they’re talking about fear-mongering and how it’s used to manipulate and control people, and how we just lap it up, but it’s hard to tell without the lyrics available just yet. At least, that’s the vibe I’m getting from the music and the video.
I'm with you 100% wasn't too sure when I first heard it, then replayed it a second time, then a 3rd and 4th. And I think you're right about what the meaning behind the song is too, at least partially; it's not just about how other use fear to manipulate us and we're complicit in it, it's also about how we actively find the worst and darkest parts and focus on that. There are a couple of lines in the third verse; 'A need to feel dread, gloom, awe, A lust for never-ending doom porn', which describes this perfectly. And in the clip, the men are sitting down, unrestrained, and raise their hand voluntarily to have eyedrops applied, rather than in say 'A Clockwork Orange' with a similar scene where the main character is restrained and has to be forced in order to watch the horrific images being flashed at him from the screen.
Mankind is wrecking the nature it needs to survive, synthesizing pandemics in labs, technological advances unrestrained, ethics becoming burdens, following dictators twisting complex truths to simple lies, cultivating hatred and greed, succumbing to morbid pleasure welcoming man's self-made Armageddon, their children crying out doomed to suffer a dystopian future, but they are ignored. This song is true art, it comforts the disturbed and disturbs the comforted.
First, this song is way too amazing, the lyrics is spatial and the music video is so on point. The choir part make me fly to the moon and the voice of Floor is such so clear. So thanks, once again, for releasing such a masterpiece. Last note to mention, Floor that dress is omg amazing, I’m so in love. Congratulations guys❤
I wasn't really feeling this song until the abrupt change at "Too late; gather up." That caught my attention, and then everything after that was great. Now going back to the beginning, I like the whole thing.
Tuomas has decided to write songs about mankind, its great discoveries, art, music, science but also its awful sides, manipulation, greed, wars and using fear in societys and as a political tool. All this good and bad we humans do in a paradise planet which could provide meaningful life to all if we come to our sences. Nightwish songs are very positive and greatly layered and leaves you uplifted after listening to it. To make a song of fear itself (or as a tool) makes no sence to write it with positive lyrics. The Day Of...is great in every respect and it leaves you thinking about that fear matter, which is important. Sometimes I think that Nightwish was hired by UN to educate us rockn roll humans.😊😊
Love this song! It's lyrics complicated and I'm sure it was hard to sing! Beautiful. I'm so glad to experience my first album launch like this! I'd love to see the making of the videos!

Only fan for few years now, though as a Finn heard them all the way from 1990's. This song has been an earworm for me since it came out. It's very catchy to me.
The feeling of falling throughout the entire film makes me uncomfortable, and I love it. It fits the music so well! I absolutely fell in love with it, you have deeply affected me with this one. Well done Nightwish, Stobe and Khimo 😘
Me too, uncomfortable of how bad this is
Kinda like being aboard a Boing 737...
Some songs you figure out by the chorus, but masterpieces require a lifetime of listening to catch a glimpse of the genius within.
Great song. Great message. Tuomas has always expressed himself and the world around him so beautifully through his music. Thank you for sharing it with the world.
Music for the uneasy minds. This is a masterpiece. Cannot wait for the lp.
Incredibly good evolution into heavy melodies, and a good stance on the chaos of existence within this century.
I've heard the song more than 10 times it's amazing, Floor's voice, the chorus ofI've heard the song more than 10 times it's incredible, Floor's voice, the children's choir is spectacular My favorite part is the chorus at the end with Floor's voice Super powerful with her great Belting she is amazing and the whole band with that great sound 😊❤🎉
And if you listen to it now, it's even more so - the original had some technical issues, they've fixed those now
Inspirational: YES, Artistic: YES, Cinematographyc: YES...All is there, and I will always listen to Nightwish, which I have since 2002. Although I appreciate it, this song won't be my favorite.
Long live Nightwish!

As someone who's been a Nightwish fan since 1999, I am so glad to see that the band evolves and still creates wonderful music that we all can enjoy.
Yes ...since 1998.
wonderful music??? shame on you
I agree and this ending is wonderful. Congratulations on remaining a loyal fan to this day, many fans throw cheap tantrums.
Boo!
as someone who´s been a NW fan since 2000, I am very dissapointed with actual songs.
Wow, love how this song has a fresh feel but still has that unmistakable Nightwish sound. They’ve managed to evolve while staying true to what makes them great, and the music video is a masterpiece, perfectly complementing the song’s powerful vibe. ❤
We are the ill-starred kids of your junkyard, Nightwish now and forevermore since Once. I cannot wait for the rest of Yesterwynde ❤
Would've loved a more operatic Floor but her voice, the symphony and rock mash, the music and lyrics!!!! So much to still love and enjoy!
Dear Nightwish, please don’t stop creating masterpieces. The world needs more of this.
I'll admit I've watched this when I'm high, and omg every sentence makes sense, the song is amazing, whole video speaks words. Wonderful tune. We are....? Let's exist. ❤️
Apparently lots of people are straight edge who commented lol,, but I'll try it and see if it improves.
@@emmason8237 i generally find that so fascinating about NW - just look at their discography: EVERY TIME they're trying sthg new. No song, no album is like another. It always evolves and I believe that's what keeps NW alive, even after so many years.
@@lioness.moon.goddesss2402 I agree 100%! @@emmason8237 totally! What an amazing song! I love the music, the dramatic development, the instruments and the climax. The contrast between the increasing moods of lyrics and instruments, and the innocent seeming choir is stunning! The lyrics are very deep layered and remind me of personal things and the whole cultural and sociocultural development of the last years. I agree. Thank you to Nightwish and greetings to 1984!
The grave new world of 1984
As a music educator, I’d rather be able to watch the band perform. I always learn something new every time I watch. Love the new sound.
High praise for the risk taking in this track. I love how far from your standards it is while still feeling quite Nightwish at some point. The song confused me at the first listening but slowly starts to grow deeply. And I love how the aesthetics makes it a right succesor to Noise.
Looking forward to September, 20th

-
2nd watch, I am really digging this song, and I’m deeply disturbed by it.
Just a big thank you from me to Nightwish, you bring joy and inspiration to my life. Helped me get through some dark times too! Thank you
Tuomas has decided to write songs about mankind, its great discoveries, art, music, science but also its awful sides, manipulation, greed, wars and using fear in societys and as a political tool.
