I wish I had had someone like you, and the internet, 60+ years ago. I find myself learning to understand and save my hair now at the ripe old age of 70. Thank you so much for all the light bulb moments you have given me since I found you on RUclips. I'm a new subscriber. ❤
I just moved to the UK from Nigeria and I've lost half my hair. I searched the internet for tips and boom, I'm here. Any suggestions on products to use for growing and maintaining my hair
I just found you in my feed, and phew… have I needed your help! I have been binge watching several of your videos that I feel apply to my current issues. I have to say I watch SO many hair care channels… they have helped me some, but nobody has explained things the way that you have. My hair is dry, but not everything helps me. I now think it’s because I have a lower porosity type. Now I feel like I FINALLY know what to do to really keep my hair as healthy as possible. Thank you! ❤
Hi Ms. Karen. This is a great analogy to teach the moisture cycles as it relates to our hair. Thanks for sharing and TEACHING!! I love the purple... my favorite color :-)
If you haven't figured it out my now -- purple is my FAVORITE color too!! Just bought some new purple glasses 🤓. And thank you so much! You know I like to incorporate visual learning tools in my teaching, and I have gotten really creative with some of my recent videos! 😂. More to come!
This video has really helped me so much on , how often I should moisturize . Out of all the videos that I have watched everyone is saying the same thing . But this is some different content I will definitely subscribe to your channel. Thank you !
Video is on time and on purpose! I have been thinking about this for several days now! Thank you for breaking down the time cycle! PS, even when you kill a plant, you know what NOT to do next time!
Oh my goodness my hair is dry I Been paying attention every since I subscribed a few days ago to ur channel thank you. I have to moisturize daily its to dry. I am graying in the front on the crown only. You break these videos down so we'll a child can understand it. Your channel is the only one that I can understand my low porosity hair. I try and watch your videos atleast once a day. Thank you!
You are so welcome! I'm so happy my channel is helpful to you!!! And yes -- my gray hair is gray right in the front too (although it gradually spreading) and the care is so different! If I can help ONE PERSON understand their hair then my mission is fulfilled! 💜
Thanks for the information I have gray hair so thanks for turning the light on 😘 So now I'll spray everyday with a leave in do I need to seal that with oil
Im bringing everyone into the gray family! Lol 😂 The recommendation is to seal with oil if possible. But even if you can’t, hydrating regularly and consistently is step in the right direction! 🙌🏾
Thank you. I had frizzy ends and got the trim you discussed previously. Problem solved. Now to moisturizing. COVID made me so lazy. My hair was thicker and longer. Now it is broken off and thinner. I am 68 and VERY gray.😂I will check my moisture more. I tried glycerin and water, and I ended up looking like a gray cotton swap every day.😂
OMG, I never thought of a drying or hydrating cycle...this is very good instruction and right on time. I gave my hair a clay treatment today and while I twisted my hair I watched your videos... I'll pay close attention to when it feels dry...not like your orchid tho, lol 🤣
Have you tried Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker 14n1...that moisturizer holds me for a week. Everything else makes me go daily. I think it's the glycerin.
Hi Karen, this video just popped on my recommended RUclips videos! Thank you for this wonderful demonstration. I personally moisturize my hair everyday to have a sort of routine/consistency because I know if I start skipping days, I will forget. However, I was wondering if it is possible to over-moisturize your hair? If so, is it bad?
Hello Haisha! Thank you so much! Yes. You can experience moisture overload. I see this a lot when people take rinse out conditioners and leave them in overnight OFTEN. If you are applying a little moisturizer daily and if your hair is thriving, then I wouldn't be too concerned about it. LISTEN TO YOUR HAIR. I actually did a video on moisture overload. I think this will help: ruclips.net/video/r3uxeb9fh6Q/видео.html
Hi Madrid! WELCOME! Believe it or not - it’s just put in a puff - well I have gel in it to enhance the curl, laid the edges down with edge control, then I took a stretchy band pushed it all up. Now, my hair is kinda long so the puff doesn’t sit up this high, so I used some Bobbi pins to give it some shape. I know that was a lot - lol - but it takes 5 minutes to do 😂 I will do a video soon to demonstrate 🤗
You ain't right! 😂 Well if your hair is anything like Ciera the plant -- make sure moisturize that hair regularly to keep it strong, healthy and growing!
Wouldn’t this lead to hydral fatigue if the cuticle has to open and close often if you’re always moisturizing the hair? Like, how can you tell if your hair is DRY?
Hello Gods of Standard of Beauty (love this name by the way) ... very good question. My daily or every 2 day moisture cycle is more specific to the top part or gray part of my hair. I can tell if my hair is dry by they way it looks, feel, and its elasticity. I am actually working on another video to release month that will answer your question in more detail. I've gotten several questions around 'how can you tell if my hair is properly moisturized', so I will do part two to this video. And in terms of my hair, I give it a light mist as opposed to getting it saturated wet. That part of my hair is more porous as well, so if I layer it with heavy butter (or even hair grease), then it locks the moisture in more, but it may compromise the look of the style depending on the style. Video coming soon! And thank you for your feedback! Keep the questions coming -- it gives me something to talk about! LOL!
Have you looked at either of my two videos on low and high porosity hair? I teach you how to properly moisturize the hair and apply oil or butter to lock in the moisture. Otherwise, water in and of itself will simply evaporate and you're back to dry hair.
My moisture cycle is every other day, but how do I do that without destroying the definition? As you can see from my profile picture my hair is Salt and Pepper.
Hi Doretha! I think I overlooked this one. I believe you asked me a question about porosity earlier. So that's the thing, some styles mess up with too much water, so if you are trying to keep the style, then you may have to "mist'" the hair every other day, as opposed to moisturizing and sealing, or you can allow the steam from the shower to hydrate your hair OR -- you can seal with a thicker butter after you moisturize so you can be able to stretch your moisture cycle. I just posted on how to do a wash n go using seal butter to seal hair. I am going to do a video on how I maintain the wash n go now that my hair is longer.
Deep conditioning is essential to healthy hair! Find out why! ➡ruclips.net/video/ZNkx6sg2KaU/видео.html

It’s true … If your hair is breaking and you are not retaining length you may need to moisturise more frequently , maybe every other day !
Yes yes yes!!
Am high porosity and my moisture cycle is everything 😊i have to Moisturize everyday, if i skip a day my hair dries out so bad
I totally get it! I'm working on a video related to moisturizing high porosity hair. Coming soon...

This video was right on time. I literally had this question on my mind today.

I moisturize my hair sometimes everyday and sometimes twice a day. Great video!
Yes!!! Thank you so much!
Me too. Finally someone who has the same issue as me. My hair very rarely stays moisturized even for a whole day 😢
Video is on time and on purpose! I have been thinking about this for several days now! Thank you for breaking down the time cycle! PS, even when you kill a plant, you know what NOT to do next time!
😂 😂. I learn a lot of what NOT to do with plants!!!! Thank you so much!

Please don't EVER let it get my orchid! LOL! I know your hair is flourishing! Keep it up!!!
@@KarenofCurlHouse 🤣🤣 but Ms. Karen how you take great care of the other 3 (family member names), and just let the orchid go dry? Lol
Have you tried Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker 14n1...that moisturizer holds me for a week. Everything else makes me go daily. I think it's the glycerin.
Hmmm....Now I've heard of it but I have never tried it. Let me put it on my list!!!!!! Thank you!

Fabulous!!! Let's Get Growing!
I think I’m low porosity however, I feel like my hair looks dry unless I put moisture in it every day. Any tips
Put Deneta in center…deco tip, great hair tips 🫶🏼
Yes!!! It will bring balance!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Hello Karen, I am new to your channel. I find your content very informative. How did you style your hair for this video?
Hi Madrid! WELCOME! Believe it or not - it’s just put in a puff - well I have gel in it to enhance the curl, laid the edges down with edge control, then I took a stretchy band pushed it all up. My hair is dyed and dry. What do I do differently when it’s dyed for moisture?
Try CurlMax curl activator or carefree Gold activator for moisture, you only need a little bit, with Blue magic castor oil hair grease
It’s an Orchid..3/4 c water every week☮️
PERFECT!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!
I made a water-based product and like you, I do every other day Cloves, oil and water in a bottle. It really works for me and my scalp feels so good.
Thanks Karen
Great tip! Fabulous!
I sweat in head. on my dyed dry hair. What to do?
i have high porosity and i moisturizer every day
Yes! I can relate! I started applying heavier oils to my hair and it actually elongates my moisture cycle.
oh great thank you @@KarenofCurlHouse
It requires a few ice cubes weekly. Sad orchid 😊
Oh my! Thank you! Just got a new one for Valentines Day!!! I will try my best to keep it alive this year! Thanks for the tip!!
When you come to look at a moisturizing video for your dry 4c hair, and the plant has your name… “Ciera”… It’s a sign 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You ain't right! 😂 Well if your hair is anything like Ciera the plant -- make sure moisturize that hair regularly to keep it strong, healthy and growing!

My hair is challenging. Its bone brittle dry and water makes it worst.
