I noticed that poison ivy seems to grow among wild raspberry and I wear garden gloves when picking the berries because of the thorns. so take care. I am excited learn about the leaves!

Great advice! There is a local graveyard where raspberry and blackberry are abundant near me… it is also where I experienced poison ivy for the first time. It was a good lesson in spotting the difference and learning a bit of caution. :)

Great video! 3rd one I've watched and the most enjoyable ❤
Legit thought it was poison ivy bc of the 3 leaves but some have 5 so i was very confused. I took a pic searched it on Google and bobs your uncle! Never thought it was a fruit bearing plant cuz of the prickers. Super exciting finding this little gem in my backyard!

Will both raspberry and blackberry leaf have close to the same flavor and medicinal properties?

I cannot speak on the flavor, but the two do have very similar medicinal uses. Both have similar vitamins and minerals and both are astringent and can be used for mouth sores and diarrhea. Many use the two interchangeably or as a “Rubus mix.”

Is all this true for non wild raspberry ?

It’s hard to say since there are so many species bred for different purposes, bigger berries, disease resistant varieties and thornless varieties. Generally when one quality is bred to be more dominant, other features tend to get watered down. For example wild rose is usually much more fragrant than show-bred roses. But I say try it out and if it works, it works! I’ve used both wild and garden raspberry leaves and both have worked splendidly for me.

I make sure I use my phone app plant identifier. I am horrified when I see leaves of 3 😂. Poison plants are not my friend I can’t even be near them in the wind. I was happy to discover 3 different raspberries growing on the side of my house not poison oak 😂

Lol raspberry leaf is definitely my preferred find! I have found blackberry, raspberry and poison ivy all growing together, which was helpful for learning the difference!

    Can you eat raspberry leaves?

You sure can! Fresh or powdered. Many folks like to add it to their “green powder” mixes for smoothies and added minerals in different meals.
