we pick plantain to make our own anti-itch medicine, we do not make it into a salve, but leave it in oil form, as it works better, dehydrate leave to lessen water content, my husband drinks chamomile/catnip tea to aid in sleeping
I would love to learn all about natural remedies! This is the best video I have seen on how to harvest, dry and use leaves for tea. Just what I'm looking for!
Thanks so much for walking us through these steps! I went out and harvested my baby leaves and out to dry they go! I never thought about harvesting my leaves and I’ve been growing raspberries 6 years! Thank you!!
Yes please! I’m committed to helping my community by becoming well versed and stocked in herbal, natural remedies. We need to be less dependent on corrupted healthcare systems and healthier by eating well and using natures bounty for wellness.
yes please....I try to grow as many herbal plants, bushes as possible. mutiple used is a bonus. I have memory problems so I often forget why I have planted something but I fortunately have many books for reference
Loved this video!! I really enjoyed seeing a real live homesteading garden. Makes me feel better about my gardening when you are honest about how you miss the ideal picking time and what not. Keeps it real. I’d love to see a video about how you water everything.
Yes, i would love to see more videos about this. A goal of mine is to have my own "farm"acy!! Just found your channel, and I love it!! Thank you so much! We need to connect more with our holistic practices!
Happy to see you had this video :) I have two rows of raspberries and realized I can harvest leaves for my own homegrown tea instead of buying it at the store 😁 so I searched youtube and found you had a video on this. Saved it for later when my raspberries have leaves and I can harvest. (Just planted the canes this month)
I would buy red raspberry leaf tea during pregnancy! I now have a red raspberry Kant and I am looking for tips on harvesting the leaves. Thanks for the video!
Yes! I have a home apothecary and started growing red raspberry this year for the fruit & the leaves. Awesome for PMS symptoms & menopause! I wanted to grow fresh instead of buying dried! Sorry, I also meant to add that now that I have the raspberry leaves I, wanted to make sure how & when to harvest! Thank you for this video! 🙏
I would love to know more how to grow and use things from my yard for health benefits. I have a vegetable garden and fruit trees but have just started venturing into berries (currently have blueberries, blackberries, elderberries and raspberries). I grow lots of herbs but don't really know what to do with them except cook with them.
An anti-inflammatory diet (personally I notice my joints feel better when I cut out sugar and flour) and then topically I love a cayenne warming salve and I like to add essential oils of rosemary, peppermint, and wintergreen *never use wintergreen with children or if on blood clotting meds or blood clotting issues
I'd love to know more about this subject. Have you ever grown passion flower? I was thinking about getting a plant. The flowers look really cool and are supposed to be medicinal.
How long do the dehydrated raspberry leaves last? Is there a risk of them getting a white mold. I purchased from a loose herb and tea retail shop, but two weeks out the leaf backs look whiter. Want to make sure not to make myself sick from mold, so please let me know if that is a concern or is dehydrated leaves can last like spices do, a very long time. What’s the shelf life?
I shall go out and collect some leaves straight away - but I was wondering if one mixed with mint or perhaps lemon zest to give the tea some flavour. Is it one of those teas one needs to be careful not to overdo? PS Thank you for your videos. They are fascinating.
Hi @Anthea Morton-Saner I mix my red raspberry with nettle leaves and mint for flavor, sometimes I add in some of the berries too for a fruit kick. Licorice root is one you don't want to use too much of but I'm not aware of any warnings with the raspberry leaves and mint for a cup a day.
This type of thing is DEFINITELY of interest to me...thank you! I have a question: Can I only use the leaves of RED raspberries? I have black and gold raspberry bushes as well.
All brambles (black and gold) have many of the same properties, vitamins, antioxidants, etc. but the red specifically is most used for the hormone/women's aspect.
The blackberry leaves (wild and domestic) have antioxidants, tannins, and the vitamins, and are used in German E (herbal medicine with more research and support than here in the states) for diarrhea help, but they're not used as much for women's issues.
I have tame raspberry plants that I will harvest. What about wild raspberry plants? Are they better or the same as tame ones? Can you make tea from fresh leaves? I plan on harvest raspberry, nettle and oat straw for a tea mix. I would like to see more herbal medicine vids as well. Cheers!
I know that I am late to this video but very interesting. I am interested in growing a lot of herbs for my horses as paying so much money to purchase a lot of herbs that I can grow myself. I would love to know what variety of raspberry this is. I know you say red raspberry but a google turns out may varieties.
Hi and thank you for the video. I just found your channel and subscribed. Is there a particular variety that is the most beneficial for harvesting the leaves? I am putting my fall order in soon🙂
I tried all sorts of teas with my daughter to increase milk supply (didn't have the issue with my son) and honestly, none of them seemed to help me personally, but I had a lot of underlying hormone and gut health issues I didn't know about at that time which I'm sure played a larger part. But red raspberry leaf isn't usually listed as a top herb for milk supply and I haven't researched it enough to know how much comes through the breast milk and if it would be appropriate for the infant. I would definitely check with a natural path or certified herbalist on that one.
Thanks so much for the reply! My daughters is 14 months old and feeding less often, so I’ve had a decrease in milk supply. I haven’t seen much difference when I take fenugreek. So I will try to find out from an herbalist 😊
I put them in sauerkraut because they're high in fibre which protects the heart, and you're kind of missing out just using them in tea. I'm not sure all the benefits you mention are water-soluble either. To get all that in your body you need to brew or ferment.. :)
Hi Rebecca, usually it's the Echinacea angustifolia, echinacea pallida, and echinacea purpurea, or the purple coneflowers for medicinal properties. Inside the Pioneering Today Academy we have a full natural medicine and herbal series, it's not open for enrollment currently but you might want to get on the notify list for when we do here --> melissaknorris.com/pioneering-today-academy-notify-me/ The great thing about harvest echinacea is you can use the flower petals, leaves, and roots (roots depend on age of the plant before harvesting).
Do you make or grow any of your own natural herbal remedies? Would you like to see more videos on growing your own herbal tea?
we pick plantain to make our own anti-itch medicine, we do not make it into a salve, but leave it in oil form, as it works better, dehydrate leave to lessen water content, my husband drinks chamomile/catnip tea to aid in sleeping
@@jackeekp all awesome remedies. I've got my chamomile planted for this year's harvest too!
@@MelissaKNorris mine started blooming about a week ago, slow getting started, but I absolutely love the smell of the blossoms drying
Any thought on how to safely dry the leaves without a dehydration machine?
Living in Oregon we have blackberries growing wild everywhere! Do blackberry leaves also make a good tea or are they something that should be avoided?

I’ve heard that red raspberry leaf tea is good to use for increasing milk supply. Have you heard this or know if it’s used for that?

Wow I make sauerkraut never realised I could put some in. I will do next ferment thanks
@@TheGreenPond-nature you can ferment anything, but there's no guarantee you'll like it. I do a lot of wild edibles because I am unemployed.. :)
I wonder if a food grade desiccant placed into the mason jar would aide in drying further and extending the shelf life of the herb.
I haven't found it necessary but it certainly wouldn't hurt, especially if you live in a humid climate.
more please!
Can I harvest now in September or too late? How come this tea doesnt look like the kind you buy in a store? Thanks!

I don't have red raspberry
But I have a boysenberry, is there a difference as Boysenberries plants are a combination of red raspberry and BlackBerry?
Can you use leafs from others color raspberries? What's the difference?
